DeAngelo Hall says he was not at party for Michael Vick where shooting occurred

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall said he did not attend Michael Vick's 30th birthday party Thursday in Virginia Beach during which a man was reportedly shot.

"I'm on vacation with my family and not anywhere near there," Hall said in a phone interview. "None of that has anything to do with me."

A television station initially reported the shooting that occurred outside Guadalajara, a Virginia Beach night club, which was hosting the party for Vick, a Philadelphia Eagles quarterback. Apparently, Hall's name was mentioned on a promotional flyer for the party "but I didn't give anyone my permission to use my name or my likeness on anything," Hall said. "I don't know why my name was out there with this."

DeAngelo Hall stands up for Vick, again

Posted by Mike Florio on June 25, 2010 4:27 PM ET

Three years ago, Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall and others accepted Mike Vick's denials of dogfighting allegations at face value, and Hall and others continued to defend Vick even after he rewarded their blind faith in him by eventually pleading guilty.

So it's no surprise that Hall has assumed an early leadership role when it comes to making excuses for Vick this time around. After pointing out via his Twitter page that he wasn't at the party that ended with the shooting of former Vick associate Quanis Phillips, Hall says, "I would also caution people from making statements and accusations before all the details have come out. I support Mike and everything positive he is doing in the community. Thank you."

But this isn't about whether Vick pulled a Pacman Jones and asked someone else to take a shot at Phillips. The mere fact that Vick and Phillips spent time in the same zip code represents evidence of the kind of recklessness that got Vick into trouble in the first place.

He's on federal probation, and he's banned from associating with his former associates in Bad Newz Kennels, including Quanis Phillips.

This isn't just an issue of federal probation. Upon reinstating Vick last July, Commissioner Roger Goodell specifically informed Vick that "you are required to abide by the terms of the supervised release that were imposed on you by the court, which include not committing any further crime, limits on who you may associate with, prohibitions regarding alcohol and drug use, possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon, and forbidding you to own, possess or be involved with the sale of any dog."

So the issue isn't whether Vick arranged for Phillips to be shot. The question is whether Vick violated the plain terms of his probation and/or his reinstatement by: (1) seeing Quanis Phillips; and (2) not immediately sprinting in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, it's hard to accept Hall's admonition to refrain from making "statements and accusations" until "all the details have come out." Already, it appears that the justice-obstructing cultural phenomenon that discourages "snitching" has kicked into high gear, making it virtually impossible for any details to come out.

Regardless, the most important details from Vick perspective relate to compliance, or lack thereof, with the requirement for residing among the free -- and for getting paid millions to play a game. Based on the initial media reports, it's not looking good.

The kennel was named Bad Newz Kennels...You just can't make that kind of stuff up.

As for Hall..Dude needs to stop talking to the media. This is not the guy you want to be the voice of your organization.

My only complaint is with posters who say "Snider sucks and the redskins will always suck as long as he is the owner."
If you realy believe this statement then you should stop being a Redskins fan and go away.

Posted by: kaasmaster

The pathetic existence of Dan Snyder will never, ever dictate anything to me. So take your silly post out for a long walk and don't come back now, ya hear?

Posted by: Pepper5

Because the solution to any problem is to bury your head in the sand and forget about it.

Posted by: mattsoundworld

Can you read English? Did you bother to read the whole posting, not just the part reposted here? Do you people even have a clue as to what I was saying?

I was NOT saying that I believe that the Redskins will always suck as long as Dan Snider owns the team.

I was complaining about OTHER PEOPLE who constantly put up postings who say that.

People who are constantly saying that the Redskins will ALLWAYS suck just because Dan Snider owns the team PISS ME OFF.

If THEY are so completely HOPELESS about the future, WHY ARE THEY FANS?

Do you get it NOW?

If Vick was at the party, and he became aware of the presence of Quanis Phillips at the party (assuming that Phillips was an uninvited guest), The appropriate action would be to call the police and have them remove Phillips from the nightclub.

Another appropriate action would be to tell Phillips to leave, and if he doesn't, then MV should leave. If he did, and then Phillips gets shot, MV would have been at his own party, but not when QP was shot.

From ESPN:

For other countries, a second-round World Cup match is a big step. For the United States, Saturday's game against Ghana is so much more. The television audience back home could top the U.S. national team record of 13.7 million, set during the 1994 World Cup loss to Brazil.

The TV Gods are thrilled that USA made it out of group play and has a decent chance of getting to the semis. Now if Strasburg can just get picked for the All-Star game ...

Sorry, didn't have the facts straight.
I do believe that people are fully responsible for their actions while they are intoxicated (whatever the substance). They make the choice to use the substance, so they are responsible for all consequences of their actions while under the influence of the substance.

I can't help going back to Mark Bavaro's reference to many of his NFL teammates as 'borderline criminal'. As if it isn't just a matter of the money, the fame, and the posse of toadies, but that there's a defect in personality or character that goes along to the NFL when they do.

Wonder if it makes them better football players?

First of all, it's obvious that white folks are freely using the word thug as "code" for "brothers" who seem to be down, cool, have swag, etc. As it pertains to DH23 distancing himself from this situation, I'm in the nightlife, and, all often times you have people that propmote parties that like to list certain "Special Invited Guests" on their flyers and other promo materials to garner more attention for their event. Get off the dogs for real! White folks been killing deer, moose, bears, etc just to mount the heads as trophy pieces. And, don't give me that crap about what's legalized and what's sport, etc. Basketball is a sport. Soccer is a sport. Killing an innocent animal by any means is NOT a sport. But, the man did his time. If you follow where some of these guys come from, the fact that they are pro athletes or entertainers doesn't change the mentality of those AROUND them. Even if a guy changes, he's usually on an island alone.

Forget this is Vick and replace him with some guy who comes from a less than desirable background who 'makes it'...folks can't change everyone around them; they usually have to disown all they knew and create a new reality. Most folks find it hard to do that because they get it from both sides, the 'you forgot where you came from' or 'you're a sellout that turned your back on us' as well as the pressure to go 'Hollywood'.

We see it whether it's Allen Iverson or Jesse James or Whitney Houston or Britney Spears. They are who they are at their core, their talents and fame not withstanding. Some guys like Corey Haim succumbed while Drew Barrymore fought thru her demons...Anthony Kedis and John Frusciante still fight and fall back into their addictions and they have money and fame and all those things that say 'They've Made It'. LT and Steve Howe and Strawberry/Gooden have had several lifetimes to get it right and look at how many times they have failed. Jason Williams went from 90 mil. in the bank to broke murderer all because of his addiction.

And these are just example of folks we KNOW; what about the anonymous lawyers, doctors, everyday working men and women who fail? It's plenty out there who make those same mistakes and they don't have as much pressure on them as these 'famous folks'. Each of us has an example of this in our family or group of friends or coworkers (if we were HONEST about it)

Fact is, living that life in the public fishbowl is not easy for anyone, even less so without a good support system around you.

.and while MM was here he looked like one of the best WR's on the Skins in practice anyway. That doesn't make me feel any better about the group of WR's from last year. I see why BA and MS brought in so many new/old faces at the position. MK & DT are so average.

"We love to judge people...some of you bloggers have beat your wives, drank and drove, cheated someone out of something or been somewhere you should'nt have been.

He who is without sin...let him cast the first stone."

Actually it really has nothing to do with that because he is not and should not be judged the same as any of us. Unless that is you are someone who has made nine figures in your life, was convicted of a felony, let out of prison under conditions, allowed to go back and again make the money to support your pampered lifestyle, and then you again decide F the law and you will do whatever you like in spite of the requirements of your release from prison, even though it could land you back there. All of the people that fall under THESE circumstances should not throw stones.

Next of course it takes a sick person to torture any living thing. Killing them, if done humanely I do not have a big problem with. The animal control does it hundreds of times a week. Breeders do it all the time. They have a litter, some ar not of show or saleable quality so they euthanize them. But the torture, including a fight to the death or near death is dispicable. That said I have to side with the people who say one human life is worth more than all the animals in the world.

Now I am not saying there is punishment to be had for what Vick did, but I did think it was excessive prison time for the crime. I would have much preferred all the money that was spent to jail him and keep him in jail was donated to the animal organizations that take care of such things. The SPCA in my county has already closed due to lack of funding.

I also say that there should be no way you can kill a human and get 30 days under any condition. Either it should be deemed an unavoidable accident and you get no jail time, or you should be locked up for murder for as long as any other murderer. If you are drunk and hit someone it is murder. How anyone can say that if he had not been drunk that he still could not have avoided hitting that man is beyond rediculous. If your reflexes are not dulled by alcohol, of course you have a better chance of seeing and avoiding a death hit.

Going there was a poor decision. WR might be the Lions' deepest position, and Detroit has maybe the best big WR in the NFL. Maybe he can catch on somewhere else, get a spot on the practice squad for some other club.

Or maybe not.

Posted by: Samson151 | June 26, 2010 11:28 AM | Report abuse

Here's who Marko was competing against in Detroit:

Calvin Johnson, 24, 6'5", 238
Bryant Johnson, 29, 6'3", 215
Nate Burleson, 28, 6'1", 200
Dennis Northcutt, 32, 5'11", 175
Eric Fowler, 25, 6'3", 210
Brian Clark, 25, 6'2", 205

plus a couple undrafted rooks. Northcutt is primarily a returner, but the first three are better than Marko, and the other two play ST. Not playing special teams was a real problem for Marko.

PublicEnemy-

Why does it have to be a black or white issue? Both Vick and Ben are despicable human beings, but I don't choose who to defend or "hate" based on the color of their skin.

Vick got off easy, he financed and operated a dog fighting kennel called the Bad Newz Kennel for 5 years that tortured and killed dogs.

Not sure who is saying what Ben did is "ok". He is a world class d0uche with a 100 mil contract that still finds the need to chase college aged skanks around and only gets excited when they tell him NO.

I think the majority of us don't care what the player's race is, just what the player has done. You apparently are judging us based on the unfounded perception that we (as a group which is mixed race) are behaving in a racist manner by bagging on someone who is black. However your narrow-minded judgement of us (based on what you believe our respective races to be) is itself racist.

FACTS: REGARDING THE SHOOTING

Philadelphia Eagle’s quarterback is infamous for his illegal dog-fighting ring, for which he was imprisoned for almost two years in 2007.
Quanis Phillips, one of the co-defendants in the dog-fighting trial three years ago, was shot three times. Phillips was shot around 2:00 am this morning. Luckily, the shots were not fatal and he remains in good condition at the hospital.

Vick’s lawyer, Larry Woodward, contends that Vick was no longer present at the club when the shooting took place.

Before anyone responds to my post, please read it carefully. I've read all of the above and I'm not surprise of the level of venom that is comming out faster than the BP oil leak in the Gulf. But this is America where we are free to HATE anyone, DEMONIZE someone and sometime LAUD someone who happen to play sports for a living.

I guess the article regarding Michael Vick as being the most hated man in sports in America is correct. I didn't want to believe it, but according to this blog he is and so what? Is Mike Vick also the catch all for people to Hate? Nope he just happen to show what is truly the underlying root behind the hatred for the man that finance, operated a pit bull dog fighting operation. Plus he admitted to killing some of the pit bulls for loosing.

Point of History:

Boil them in Oil. Cut of their foot or feet if they run again. Beat them if they raise their head and look you in the face.

Blood Lines for Dogs regarding their purity and spirit makes them the most attractive to the Breeder's who across the US who engage in the sport of illegal Dog Fighting. But the above references are from a era in this country that we sweep under a rug in the disguise as hate for an athelete who engaged in an illegal dog fighting operation.
"He's a piece of %%%",etc, etc, etc. I'm no bleeding heart but enough is enough. I'm just comfortable Hating someone, including people that have a geological history to the past of Killing, Raping, Beating others into submission for profit during a very sad part of History in our great United States of America. Me I'm just a 58 year, disabled USAF Vietnam War Vet that just happens to be Black American that volountered to go to south-east Asia. I've seen way to much hatred in my time. Hell I just like watching Pro-Football to take my mind off what I've already seen, And hell no, I do not know Michael Vick, never met him nor Big Ben or Albert either. But apparantly you'll have and you didn't tell any of them that you hate them to their face. I wonder why?

"Why does it seem like when Michael Vick does something he's a thug, but Big Ben has two people accuse him of rape it's ok?"

Actually, no one looks down on either of these guys.

The race element is only a problem for people who spend their time obsessing over it.

And if you haven't heard, "thug" is a term of endearment and "rapist" the title of the dude who got some without paying for it.

Remember: troubled athletes keep sports chatta alive.

Back in the day, sports commentary was all about prowess.

Today, it's all about clownishness.

What would we talk about if all multi-millionaire athletes did was go to libraries and tell kids to read?

(If you notice, Jason Reid very rarely highlights those redskin players who help kids as, well, we need another Albert Haynesworth update.)

I scan the sports pages to see which superstar was dumb enough to get stripper pregnant, skip workouts, slick roll a team out of $21 million dollars, or throw a birthday party highlighted by shooting.

Scores? Results?: who wastes his time reading about those things when we can sip coffee while reviewing online court transcripts detailing a drunken star quarterback's 'sausage party'.

So don't turn our jibba-jabba into something which it is not:

Serious.

And that simply because dogs are cute, we shouldn't ignore the murder, raping, etc. that we read regularly about in the newspaper. It's a legit point. And everyone freaked out. I think the people who gloss over the human tragedies because dogs are cute and furry really do a great disservice to everyone. Ending a person's life should not be ignored. And yes the gratuitous use of "thug" does come across as racist. See Arenas, Gilbert. Finally, to those of you who propose torture on the guy who said humans are more important than dogs, look in the frickin mirror. Wanting to torture someone for disagreeing is sick.

Gotta agree with you, Sampson. Delfranklin4 obviously doesn't understand hunting/hunters.

1. Every hunter I've ever been around takes great pride in eating what they've killed. It's healthier meat and you got it yourself. I trust Vick wasn't murdering his dogs for the food.

2. Hunting is extremely important to keeping the animal and vegetative levels in check. Otherwise, there can can be mass overpopulation, starvation, and disease.

3. I don't know of any hunters that willfully would tie their prey upside down with a rope hung over a tree branch and then repeatedly dunk the defenseless animal into a bucket of water over and over until it was dead...among other horrible stories about how those dogs were treated.

4. Ruthlessboinker is an utter POS. Funny how that goes. It doesn't have a single thing to do with the skin color of the "man". It has to do with whether they can make the right choices with their lives or not. Don't bring color into it. Right is right, wrong is wrong...period. Just like you're an idiot or not. Color makes no difference. Clearly this person falls into the 'idiot' category.

I wasn't aware Nas, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, or Kanye West were white.

All rappers use internal rhyme and clever wordplay, so don't sling that tired point about Marshall Mathers' tired rhyme stylings to justify his alleged dominance.

Eminem has hyper-rapped his way into irrelevance.

I can't listen to his stories of a druggie mom, wack stepdad, etc. anymore, thank you.

And does he have any hits where the great Dr Dre isn't involved?: No.

I'll pass on his new introspective 'I'm off drugs now' offering as it's probably about as slim and shady as an underfed confidence man.

And a rapper with a lot of clever wordplay that you can't understand or remember because it's delivered to where its hard to follow isn't worth listening to.

And he isn't all that great.

Irrelevance... I don't consider #1 this week exactly irrelevance. Recovery is a completely different sort of album for M... he's taken it to another level for himself in terms of maturity, still hardcore of course, but different.... no accents, no characters, no skits. Not his best, gotta give that to Marshall Mathers LP, but very good because it is different.

Great track to hear is 25 to life... you think it's just another song about him & his ex-wife kim but it turns out to be about his relationship with hip-hop & how it brought him fame/fortune but also caused him to be a recluse. Furthermore, in a track called "Talkin 2 myself" he looks deep inside himself & talks about how he was jealous of Lil Wayne & Kanye West when they were tearing it up & the attention they were receiving when he was away from the game & how he wanted to attack them but then thought better of it knewing they would destroy him. (lyrically)

Regarding Dr Dre... he only has 1 credit on the entire album in relation to song production (see recovery wiki). That credit was not for the song "Not Afraid" & you cannot say that is not a hit.

Seriously, it's all a matter of opinion... me personally I've always been into Dre's guys... dre, 50, eminem, snoop... but I have mad respect for some of the guys you mentioned because of their view by the hip hop community... but not to get carried away, my first love is Rock in all genres.

I understand that Eminem is going to outdo everyone when it comes to Album sales because he relates to a larger demographic. I get it, but he is still very relevant. If you haven't heard "Not Afraid" check out the video at Eminem.com.

Why do people keep saying Vick shouldn't have been there? It was HIS party. Ofcourse he is going to be there. The other guy should not have been there. Any one wonder why it's said Vick wasn't there? Maybe he asked the guy to leave and he wouldn't so Vick did the smart thing and left. Or maybe he left so he won't be blamed for having the guy shot. Who knows... WELL NONE OF US DO. Shut up every one. Not our business.

And, if you haven't already, you should check out "Glengary Glen Ross. Brilliantly acted, directed and like "House of Games" also written by Mr. Mamet. The second best play/film about selling behind only Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman."

I know Moo's post and mine don't have any business on a football board, but for God's sake, SOMEONE has to bring the level of cultural discussion up a tick or two from Rap.

"How does it feel to know the best rapper in the world is white?"

Gil Scott-Heron is white? Just kidding.

Some music critic claimed that the first popular rap song was 'Subterranean Homesick Blues'. He went on to claim that rap was music for people who couldn't sing or play an instrument, and that alone made it a great gift to young men who were hoping to get laid.

Nope. On the chorus, Dylan actually sings just a smidge. "Look out kids, you donna get hit..." Come to think of it, that line may have predicted Rap.

Bonus point. What sixties Revolutionary movement took its name from something in Dylan's classic, and what was the key lyric that gave them the idea?

Regarding Vick...This is just bad PR ... that's it. Club put out a flyer in which Michael Vick allowed them to use his name & others to bring patrons to the Guadalajara. Vick's real group would usually be in a VIP section that is typically untouchable. Quanis knew about it, so he went... tried to cause some trouble... Vick/Roddy White jump in Mercedes, leave before 2:00 am which the Guadalajara have on security camera... Quanis gets shot at 2:15 am after Vick is already gone.

A Fed stated in an interview that it is not a crime for the 2 to be in the same public location together... only if they were interacting/associating with each other... If you consider a guy possibly yelling/making threats an association then let's throw the book at him. I don't think anything will come of it, because it's a public place & the flyer was available to everyone/anyone. It's not like an invitation for just Vick's guest.

Oh and rap fans, that's not a typo: "Yo Yo Ma," NOT "Yo Mama."

And at times RI can be as positive as mother Teresa's aids test. It's a blog and everyone is entitled to an opinion even when they are completely wrong.

Animal shelters exist because sadly there is no shortage of irresponsible pet owners. I've never met anyone who worked at a shelter who didn't hate having to put animals to death. They do their best to find safe, loving homes for every animal possible. If you can't see the difference between these people and Michael Vick, then you truly are blind.

Kanye West has no talent?

Sit down and listen to "The Blueprint," Alica Keys 2nd album, Common's "Be," and West's own "Late Registration."

West produced a ton of hits for a variety of rappers in the early-mid 2000s.

And btw, Eminem can't sing either.

And when was his last hit?

Like I said.

All I'm saying is that there hasn't been a single performance of Kanye's on TV where I'm just like, "Jezus...him again...he sux!", and he's done anything to change my mind.

I can appreciate the fact he writes and produces for other artists, but he ain't Prince, by a loooong stretch. Prince writes, produces, plays a ridiculous number of instruments...well, sings all over the register...again, well, AND dances.

Kanye needs to stick to being behind the scenes. Again...just my opinion.

Just curious. Did you ASK the gooks if they saw a white light? And how could they or your VN buddies tell you if they did or didn't if they were dead?

Wikepedia and official Navy web sites have SEAL in all caps. Are you confusing your military service with the guy who married that hot model? Or the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program?

Final note. Atheism comes across better when you get your facts straight. It’s “near death” experiences that produce the white light phenomena.

Amazingly enough I almost agree with Cork. Early rap was art. Beastie's, DMC, Ice T, Sugar Hill Gang, even NWA and Eazy E were ground breaking. Now, it's all mocked, rehashed, regurgitated crap that all sounds the same. Tired of hearing about how much money or how many b!tches these retarded clowns supposedly have. You f'in bubblegum gangsters ain't killed no one so stop playing like you're hard. By the way, TuPac was a ballet student and Dre was in a dance/disco group before he was ever a rapper. Pretty hard huh?

Looking at the offensive line, beyond the front six -- Dockery, Rabach, Trent and Mike Williams, Jammal Brown, and Hicks -- it's a bit of a mix-up. Heyer is experienced at both tackles. Ed Williams and Will Montgomery can play both center and guard. There are two rooks who could be practice squad candidates. It's hard to see much room for Oldenburg or William Robinson. That's leaving the ST issue out entirely.

I'm not sure what the problem was with Rinehart. Bugel once hinted that Chad just didn't 'get it', which usually translates to missed blocking assignments. Odd because he's very bright. They started him four games before he went down with injury. Coaches are reluctant to criticize young players in the media, for good reason.

Guess it really will be decided in camp, or preseason at the latest. No trade prospects that I can see.

LOL like you, I'm just guessing, but I doubt they're anything like your average GOP stalwart. As one player put it: "Hey, you know what tax bracket I'm in? I gotta vote Republican." Don't expect to see many current players at Tea Party meets -- the League is what, 70% African-American? And the Teepers really are 90+% Caucasian.

And the only ex-Redskin in Congress, one Heath Shuler, is a Democrat. Let's hope he's better there than as a QB.

all you brilliant professors are reading it wrong. this was not in support of killing animals. but in fact of support of the law. what Vick did was wrong but he paid his debt to society and has been re-instated by the commisioner. therefore to keep bringing up his past is redundant. you're better off critisizing the guy who kills dogs on a regular basis and justifies it claiming humanity. or better yet save a dogs life and adopt one. as far as Vick abstaining from alcohol that doesn't mean his guest have to stay sober and he has every right to rent out a club. some of you folks are just on a witch hunt, I am not a vick fan never have been but let the guy try to redeem himself at least. Now for you fans that claim they have a right to complain abourt everything if ever you were caught not complaining it'd be different, but all you do is complain even when something good transpires you search for a nugget of negativity to whine about. the Redskins finally have the ship pointed in the right direction and can do some good things over the next few years but those of you who want proof first are just fair weather fans. The first game I took my son to was Spurriers last home game against the Cowboys where most of you guys RAN for the exits before it was over leaving a few true fans Surrounded by Cowboys. I told my boy we would never walk out on the skins especially when they needed us most. it's time for those of us who bleed Burgandy and Gold to stand up and for the rest to sit down

Nice French. A troll posts in a discussion forum in order to provoke or disrupt. May not have any other agenda than to start a fight. A sock puppet poses as someone else in order to deceive. Example: a regular poster adopts a pseudonym and pretends to argue with his own positions, just so he can then allow himself to be beaten.

I go to the beach for a week and this is what I find when I return? Very disappointing RI.

(Moe, I think what Cork was trying to say is that he's never really listened to rap music.)

Posted by: Mack1

It’s not what I was saying at all. Cork has listened to rap--tho in most cases believes the phrase “rap music” is a contradiction in terms. Most recently, Cork listened last night to Jayzee and Eminem on Letterman.

But Çork MUCH prefers R&B—the real stuff--Big Joe Turner, The Drifters, Hank Ballard, Huey “Piano” Smith, etc. And Jazz. If you’d tuned in Letterman earlier this week you’d have been privileged to hear Bettye LaVette. Artists like Ms. LaVette work for relative pocket change these days, as the Cultural decline accelerates thanks to a generation whose idea of art is Lady Gaga and fake badazzes like Mr. Mathers.

No argument about Rap’s right to exist, of course, just not a fan of rapidly spewed doggeral using a surfeit of words and images to describe thoughts and emotions more talented artists describe more eloquently with a few well chosen ones, and actually sing, too.

Saying you are a fool is less name calling than speaking the truth. I'm not up here saying that Vick doesn't deserve a chance. He does. I more than anybody on here understands that. What I said about him is that he sure is crossing the line as far as the conditions of his release. And if he's not he's sure treading awfully close. Pretty stupid to jeopardize your newly earned freedom because you wanted to have a birthday party. Your bogus claim about how it doesn't matter how a dog is killed is just BS. That hypothetical you declined to answer speaks to the root of the crap you spew. Indeed, in the end murder is murder, but it ceertainly does matter how it was commited. Especially for the person or animal that happens to experience it. I'm sure if you asked a long suffering cancer patient they would prefer a death during sleep to the years of treatments and pain they are enduring.

I seem to have missed these discussion threads about posters on RI. My position is that anyone should be allowed to post as long as it gets by the editors. Blogs need lovable buffoons. But they also need drive-by snipers as well. The snipers with their so-called "attacks" shine a light on the pretentiousness and exagerated self-importance of some of the posters on the blog. They perform a useful function in keeping some of these excesses in check, although those bloggers who are the targets probably have a different point of view.

Kaasmaster, thank you for asking a question without resorting to name calling first. as you may or may not know this is once again a man made problem. overbreeding and cross breeding for his own sake. obviously spaying and neutering hasn't helped perhaps the answer is man shouldn't be allowed to own pets. while I know that'll never happen it still is no reason to selfishly kill innocent animals. when God gave man domain over all creatures of the earth I'm sure he didn't have this in mind. before I get too deep in this first to scampbell1975 I didn't intentionally avoid your question I thought i gave a sideways answer. but if i must. how could i expect my child to be given a choice in death when his victims had no choice themselves. yes I agree there are cruel ways to die but the cruelist part is death itself. I'm sure if the government allowed the likes of a Dr. Kavorkian to exist there would be a high number of assisted suicides. but for me the bottom line is murder is murder. and if that makes me a retart then darba darba doo. as far as controling animal over populating a good start would be an outreach program to give homes to these dogs retired people, farmers, sanitariums and even game preserves. afterall once upon a time dogs depended on themselves for survival. there is always another answer besides murder. if I missed anyone else in my post either I forgot who you were or your namecalling failed to impress me

remove Ray Lewis poster? How about London Fletcher or Phillip Daniels or even Art Monk's picture, enough fascination with Ray!

Let's say your child (and this is purely hypothetical mind you, I'm certainly not wishing this on you, your son, or anyone) is convicted of murder and is sentenced to death. Would you rather have lethal injection the method or a bunch of rocks tied to his feet and thrown over a bridge?

Posted by: scampbell1975 | June 27, 2010 12:51 PM

This guy sentenced to death recently had a problem...I think it was VA, but someone can correct me....

The first injection used on him was supposed to put him to sleep and/or numb him....guess what? IT DIDN'T WORK...

So, he died in pain....Bet he wish someone would have just tied his feet to some rocks and threw him over a bridge instead...why not? He was gonna die anyway....

And let's not forgot the man who was executed by the shooting sqaud recently. That was waaaaay worse then what Vick and 'em did.

Oh, and that horse @ the Kentucky Derby that placed 2nd last year? The jockey F'd up and she, the only female racing the race in decades, was put to sleep one minute later on live tv.....

And let's not forget deer hunting season.

Or the innocent dogs that police shoot because of the loud barking.

I never knew so many RIers were members of PETA....

I forgot to add....

These lil birds that just hatched fell out of the nest their moms made at my doorstep....

I almost stepped on one....He couldn't move..I didn't what to do, but I did know if I didn't move him now a cat or big rodent would scoop him up....

...So I scooped him up and put him the trash can.....

...It happened again the next day...

..And I did the same thing....

Trust me, I felt bad, but shiiiid...That's how it goes sometimes....

***WINNER***

The dumbest dialogue of 2010. Great Odin's Raven.

How does a NFL QB that financed and operated the Bad Newz Kennel for 5 years and was found guilty of running an illegal interstate dog fighting ring AND torturing and killing dogs garner these comparisons??

Who cares what he did last weekend but the defense of his past attritions and the comparisons have been ITA worthy.

The question is…Is Vick a POS. The answer is without a doubt……..YES.

Hey 4thftoor,

The guy who was executed in Utah by firing squad REQUESTED the firing squad. This goes back to a Mormon belief (no longer supported by the Mormon church) that certain sins require blood atonement. The inmate in question held the belief that he could not be forgiven by Jesus and accepted into heaven without this type of punishment. Utah no longer allows the firing squad as a method of execution, but it is grandfather claused in for inmates who were on death row prior to the ban and have requested this method of execution. There are 3 or 4 more inmates waiting for their turn before the firing squad.

perhaps the answer is man shouldn't be allowed to own pets.

Posted by: nflorida1

I for one believe that that the irresponsible and/or criminal actions of some human beings should not be cause to restrict the freedoms of everyone else. I have four pet cats that I love dearly. All four were adopted from the humane society. All four are spayed and vaccinated. They are well cared for. I shouldn't have to give up my right to be a pet owner just because some other people are irresponsible or even cruel to their pets.

The point is when it's time to go, you go.

The guy didn't 'request' to receive the death penalty.

Firing sqaud may be outlawed now, but it still happened to him and how ever many else going back hundreds of years....

Where do you draw the line...Should someone be locked up for having a 'ant fighting ring'? And the ants who don't do well you stomp em out or put the magnifying glass to them?

The dude had a dog fighting gig.....They get rid of dogs their own way, and yes, it may not have been nice......

But that's life, sad to say...To many injustices everywhere, not enough people to care. And when some people (I.E. Moi) try to point out others of eqaul or more importance, I get labeled a fool.

I would say it's more of someone who knows to much......

You're on crack, as usual. Drowning is supposed to be one of the worst possible ways to die aside from burning. But I'll take your word for it that firing squad is worse. I've read your stuff for a long time 4th and though I have refrained from bashing people on the blog for a while now I will say that you are an ass. I think that your posts are close to the tops for uneducated, uninformed, and just plain ignorant. I will certainly ITA your foolishness from now on because your arguments are weak, clueless, pointless, and pretty well in line with what I would expect from a mentally challenged 4 year old.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion I just think it's a phuked up way to think. Maybe in God's eyes a sin is a sin. But you and I ain't God and sh!t ain't always equal because the result was the same.

I do not support the death penalty. I was simply stating the facts of his circumstance.

There are some individuals convicted of murder that DO request the death penalty rather than lifetime imprisonment. I do not know if that was true for the individual in Utah, but it does happen.

What you say about "Too many injustices everywhere, not enough people to care" is certainly true, but the good people of the world do what they can when they can. Sometimes all you can do is voice your dissaproval, but at least that is better than nothing. Sometimes there are no clear cut answers, but as you say that's life.

It can be very hard to know where to draw the line, but it has to be drawn somewhere. Part of being part of a society is deciding together where those lines should be.

I saw over the weekend that Marko Mitchell was cut by the Lions. I guess he's not the 2nd coming of Randy Moss after all...

This Michael Vick "story" seems to be more of a non-story to me...he wasn't even at the club when the shooting occurred. The only thing he did wrong was continue to associate with some of his "Bad Newz Kennels" buddies that he's clearly supposed to be staying away from. I guess some people just aren't capable of making a good decision...

How many really know Michael Vick to be able to call him a thug. Yes I agree glad we didn't go after him but not because he is a bad person but because he doesn't fit our offense. By the way what makes a person a thug
Posted by: cube757
____
So he was a "bad person" but not a thug??? Look Vick ran a dog fighting ring for SIX YEARS.. during which he tortured and murdered dogs. He was convicted and served time in jail. That is more than just a bad person. Vick is a THUG!! And I don't have to know Vick to say it. His actions prove it!!!

Let's not forget that Vick left the party way before dude got shot. And there are reports that he came to the party to start mess with Vick, but nobody talks about that..

Vick left the party WAY BEFORE dude got shot? Really? I mean, seriously? He left 3 minutes before "dude got shot". Who taught you how to tell time, Tom Caughlin? He thinks 5 minutes early equals late.

So, Vick rolled out walked to one of his flunkies' Escalades, has the driver creep around to the front of the club and someone pops a cap into "Q Dog".

Sounds like 3 minutes to me....

What you don't understand is the "innocent until proven guilty" perspective is really reserved for those who ARE NOT CONVICTED FELONS.

Yes, I know, I know, he did his time but the dude is on parole. This means he has almost no rights to privacy or perceived protection under the terms of his parole. In fact, if the popo even THINKS he MIGHT have done something illegal, they are well within their rights to lock his azz up and ask questions later.

This just proves the age old axiom....

"You can take the pro athlete out of the ghetto......"

I'm sure you know the rest. Thanks for playing.
