Donovan McNabb meets the press at Redskins Park

Donovan McNabb opens with a few comments, including: "I'm here with a great ogranization, one that wants to win and win now." (There's a theme.) Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is sitting in the audience, with only Mike Shanahan on the podium with McNabb.

Updated 12:19 p.m.

Mike Shanahan: "Without further ado, our quarterback Donovan McNabb."

Pregame 11:47 a.m.

Counting down the moments until Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb meets the press. Feels weird to type "Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb" but I'm nothing if not flexible. I'll keep blogging the presser. This will be a rough draft, so hang with me.

Big Mike Williams tells Comcast's Kelli Johnson that he at first thought the team had traded for Daunte Culpepper: "Dante. Donovan." We'll let him off the hook; he's looking trim and fit.

He tells Johnson that his preference would be to play right guard.

Or, maybe the REDSKINS aren't negotiating with him at all ... Maybe the Rams are working out a deal with the Redskins for McNabb's services, now that they've cut Bulger. Then THE RAMS will work on extending McNabb. That's why the Redskins are STALLING. Hey, didn't Shanahan just say something about the possibility of Campbell still being a Redskins in 2010??? Just a thought (Hey, I didn't say it was a GOOD thought)....

No, another poster actually brought up this same scenario when McNabb had just been traded, and its a very intriguing scenario. I don't think it will happen, but what a master stroke if it did. Either way, I'm happy.

If the Rams wanted McNabb why didn't they just trade with the Eagles? they have higher picks than us......

Because Andy Reid wanted to be loyal and gave McNabb his choice of teams to go to. He chose Washington over Buffalo, Oakland or St. Louis. Then we back-stab McNabb. But, before we do, Snyder makes a few $$$ off of the #5 McNabb jersey. Damn you, right-wing conspiracies!!!!!
