McNabb unconcerned about Santana Moss's link to Galea

Washington Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb said Wednesday he's not concerned about Santana Moss's connection to Anthony Galea, the Toronto-based physician charged with unlawful distribution of human growth hormone.

McNabb tried to diffuse the situation with levity.

"I don't think he took anything to get taller, "McNabb said of his 5-foot-10-inch wide receiver, "because that didn't work."

McNabb has spoken with Moss about the allegations. McNabb said he does not view the situation as a "controversy" because "knowing him, and knowing that situation, there was nothing involved with him. His name was on the list, but there were a bunch of names on the list."

McNabb sounded excited about Moss getting healthy and joining a receivers
corps with few proven players. Moss continues to recover from a knee injury.

"The guy's got a knack for big-play ability," McNabb said. "I've seen it first hand. When he's back here healthy and ready to go, it's going to be another piece of our puzzle."

While the Redskins settle their wide receivers, they will rely on depth at running back and tight end. McNabb sounded especially encouraged by the tight ends. Both Chris Cooley and Fred Davis have been productive and the Redskins' offense has flexibility that allows the tight ends to be utilized in different ways, including playing at the same time.

"When you have a tandem like these two that you can split and try to create mismatches with, it helps your offense go a little bit easier," McNabb said. "I think I can say with confidence that this is the best tandem...in the NFC East, definitely."

I was in Best Buy this weekend while visiting the fam in Ashburn, while there I ran into BMW. I wished him luck and to keep up the hard work, but I think I caught him off guard. My wife thinks it was because he was probably surprised someone recognized him and knew who he was, I felt it was because I annoyed him.

My question, since I'm not around the area anymore being in FL, is what the protocol is when seeing guys on the 'Skins in public? Let 'em be, wish them well, what? I'm 26 by the way and was stoked to run into a Skin being back in the area for 3 days. Too old?

So who wins that division? Carolina? no. Tampa Bay? no. Atlanta? really?

The bookable one is the Colts not going to the AFC championships ... put that in your pipe and book it.

Colts not going to the AFC Champ Game is weak.....Not brazen....

Order of the NFC South in 2010:

1. Atlanta
2. New Orleans (But will not get WC berth)
3. Tampa Bay
4. Carolina (But wil win the division in 2011 once LearnedHand's boy Clausen takes over fulltime the starting QB role)

i guess it's reassuring that mcnabb isn't too worried about the HGH thing. i'm getting the vibe that no one on the team thinks it's a big deal. is it because they don't believe he was actually cheating, or because cheating in that way has just become acceptable?

it will be a lot easier on my conscience if we find out that moss really was only getting "miniscule" amounts of this stuff injected directly into his joint, as opposed to serious growth doses. i think it matters. it's still wrong (in fact, both wrong AND stupid), but i will consider it more forgiveable.

One time at was at Love Nightclub in D.C. If I'm not mistaken it was Howard Homecoming Weekend. I'm at the bar and who comes up on the side of me?

Clinton Portis. (dude is NOT 5'10")

I look over, he looked over, and simply gave each other the universal what up head nod. There was no need to blow the spot and start gushing like a little teeny bopper. I think he respected that too, cause when I went to but my drink the bartender told me it was on the house. And they never give out free drinks -- not in the club.

Anyway to answer your question, I wouldn't go out of my way to speak to an athlete. If you cross paths, give a subtle "what's up?" But I wouldn't follow one around trying to get noticed, or yell like a 13 year old girl on TRL after laying eyes on one of those boy bands from back in the day.

Using HGH to help repair joints and recuperate from injuries ISNT CHEATING...it's f'ing life and we'll all be doing it in the future...

all these athletes who abuse HGH and testosterone and steroid are giving all of these drugs a terrible name in the press...and it's really too bad, cause under the RIGHT doctors supervision and used appropriately they can do absolute wonders to alleviate pain and lower the amount of time it takes to recuperate from injuries...

was at a bar one time, and Vitaly Potapenko was there, former Celtic...he ended the night, much like his career in the Green, by puking all over the bar......

I ran into journeyman lineman Jay Leeuwenburg in the Sterling Borders shortly after the Skins picked him up, and he didn't seem to thrilled about being recognized and said hello to. (Good grief, all I wanted was a hug.)

Nowadays my approach would be very different: first showing my Redskins Insider deputy sheriff's badge, then making it clear that whatever happens in the conversation I'll be writing about it up here. (I predict a far higher success rate in getting hugs.)

You're definitely too old to ask for autographs unless it's for your child who's with you at the time you come across the person. If you're standing in line with 'em, at the bar next to 'em, or something like that, I don't think it's out of line to say hello and shake his hand if he's not with his family. I've done that once or twice. As public figures, I think they have a responsibility to the public to be okay with that kind of minimal interaction. I wouldn't go out of my way to make a beeline across the store to the guy, 'cause that just makes you look silly. While he's eating or with his family in any circumstances is out of bounds, in my opinion.

yeah, red, he was SMASHED, completely over-served...after he puked, they escorted him out....

Met Dikembe Mutumbo at a clothing store one time...he was kind of a jerk....

Also met Mark McGwire at a bar...good guy, his forearms were just absolutely stupid however...looked like my thighs....turns out there was a reason for that.....

how do you generally treat other people in public? that's the standard I would apply.

how you treat players (or fellow posters) on RI might be another matter, entirely.

My wife and I were behind Dike in line at a fast food joint a few years ago. He talked on his cell phone the entire time in one of his many languages that I didn't recognize in that sub-Barry White rumble of his. Pretty funny.

Stood next to CP at a hotel restaurant waiting for a table (didn't say anything to him) - Red, you're right - he couldn't have been 5'10" unless he was really slouching.

I ran into Joe Gibbs at Denny's in Fredericksburg when I was about 17.

He was eating with his family and he did what Red said, gave me the middle school head nod and I returned it.

I apprecaiate that he didn't make a scene.

Funny how atheletes are so insecure about their height. Decades ago, when I was in high school, I used to play pickup b-ball with one of the guys from the Terps. He was listed as 6' 4". I am 6' 4" and he was at least 3 inches shorter than me.
