Don't Look for Thomas until Training Camp

Guard Randy Thomas did not work out during Monday's organized team activity, and he isn't expected to reach the field until the training camp. Thomas had arthroscopic knee surgery during the offseason, and Coach Jim Zorn said Thomas's recovery is on schedule - a schedule that does not include OTAs.

Thomas "had some stuff floating around his knee," Zorn said. "We got in taken out. He's going to be out in these OTAs, but we didn't need to see what he's capable of. We know what he's capable of. So we're getting ready for him for training camp."

Thomas also had offseason surgery to repair a neck injury, although Thomas's neck is not keeping him off the field.

"I don't know if it's full go," Zorn said. "I would limit him, but we don't contact here anyway, so there's no real popping going on anyway. He'll be full-go for training camp for sure."

That cat ranked the redskins behind everyone else in the NFC East?? I mean, everyone has a right to their opinion, but that doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Sure philly has Westbrook, but then who? Dallas has Barber, but then who? And NY just lost ward, and their main guy has a hard time staying healthy, but sure, the Redskins are the worst of the lot.

I was always told to "consider the source." Who was the guy making the rankings?

Got a question: Has Randy Thomas really worked out as a quality starting guard for the Washington Redskins?

As are most FA acquisitions: yes for the first 3 or 4 years here and overpayed and injury prone since.

Philly still has McNabb and when you look at the additions to their o-line, the kids added in the draft (Maclin, Ingraham), and the fact that they made the NFC championship game, they are indeed a force.

The jints will try spreading the ball around as it's obvious that Eli isn't all that without Plax. But they have offensive and defensive lines to die for and a recent super bowl victory to stand next to.

The Cowboys bring in a healthy F Jones and T Choice to pair with Barber--two speed, shifty backs. The 'boys will run, then throw to Witten and Wiliams--a bettermix than putting up with TO's pathethic whining. Romo's maturity and leadership will be the bellwether for the team all season.

Washington improved its defense but brings back the same cast on offense--thing is, scoring was the issue, not defending. And when you consider the smallest receivers being backed up by unproven second year guys, you get most folks thinking the skins are a last place NFC East team.

And the scoring issue is the major difference between Washington and every other team in the division.

Winning 31-21 is much better than squeaking by every week 13-9: and that's just the kind of team the skins will be again this season.

From last thread:

Put MWil on Tofu and watch his man-teats expand like balloons. Do you know the amount of extra estrogen that stuff makes a man produce?! It's obscene.

It's not the RBs that are important. It's the line... (it's the economy, stoopit!)

And can you imagine, say, Sam Huff back in the day talking about going to ride a roller-coaster?! in PUBLIC?!?

Sounds like Rocky's on the tofu, too.

Our management better start figuring out how to get players on the same page. 'Cause as it stands now, we're going to get trampeled!

I second this question b/c last year I watched him get blown off the LOS quite often.

Cindy--

Love the light and frothy approach. Say what u will about Jasno, humor wasn't his forte.

Kudos to whomever wrote "eschews Tofu" slug/headline.

Alex...Keep us up to date on your beer quest. Of course, if you're doing it properly, we'll expect typos and occasional incoherence.

Rug cleaner is here. Gotta bail.

No where on that list is Yeungling's Black & Tan... And it's better than at least two on that list that I know of. Add the price point & it's near the top of my list. ($10 for 12!!)

Git yourself over to some lambics, son.

How about a nice Chimay Blue? That's a hallucinagen! And legal!

bugel says Thomas is our lineman with the best "punch". I;m going to take Buges word.

RB rankings were ok but seems like to much credit was given to incoming rooks with 0 carries, and no credit was given to Ladell Betts.

Were ranked last in the NFC East, but 11th in the league. It's all about Campbell and 11,12,86 ....still. These are the guys that can improve us from last season.

Oh yeah, and Haynesworth and Orakpo...bwooohahahahahah

Gotta agree the Skins are last place again in their division.. I am a Skins fan for life.. but, I have to be realistic. The Offense is the same, even though plenty of WR Free Agents have been available...

I'm prepared to see a redux of 08...short passes, low yardage, lower one-third of the NFL TD completions, near bottom of the NFL in points (ie. less than the 0-16 Lions)..

With the "continuing evaluation" of the picks.. it seems the "in denial" Skins are determined to prove the 2008 Draft was successful no matter how bad it really was (defense notwithstanding).
Sorta like deciding which end of a poop to pick up when you're walking your dog. Its still a no win..

It's just a neck injury, it's just a little bit of stuff floating around in his knee that was removed, it's just a little bit of the OTA's he's going to miss: it's just going to be a porous offensive line if the starters cannot stay healthy. Samuels and Thomas are still among the walking wounded. Williams is still about a skinny waitress too heavy. I sure hope there are some backup offensive linemen who are going to rise up this season or Jason Campbell is going to be running for his life and Clinton Portis won't be running anywhere.

On a different subject: any update on how Chris Wilson is doing at linebacker?

DikShuttle,

The rule I had was I had to try NEW beers, I went to college in philly I have been drinking Yeungling's Black & Tan since I was 19, prefer the Yeungling's porte.

This was no amateur hour at the improve for me, I consider myself a grizzled beer vet at my age. I did not just wander to a local 7-11 in searching for these brews and trying them out. You have beers on that list that are $20 a bottle. I will look into Chimay Blue if I can find it in the area.

yep.. commit 150 Mil to two defensive FA acquisitions.. and Zero to building some OL depth (Dockery was waived/released) which the lack of the same, is what took the team from 6-2 to 2-6.
Brilliant..

I like that everyone ranks us last in the NFC East. When it's time to tee it up and kick it for real, we'll get that straightened out.

It's all just off-season jabba anyway, so who cares.

He was one of the best guards in the NFL until he tore his triceps in the second game of the 2007 season. He hasn't been the same since and his list of injuries is right up their with Jansen's. He's likely next on the chopping block if the Skins can find a legitimate starter to replace him. Unfortunately, they don't have anyone on the roster who fits the bill.
