Eddie Johnson Just Got Cut, No Joke

They whacked Eddie Johnson after practice, his first with the team. Johnson worked out this morning, showed well, was signed, had some fatigue during practice after punting and kicking so much this morning, and got the pink slip a little while ago. What a day. Frosty lives. Frosty lives.

Maybe they are making room for NOVAK?!? ;-)

I never thought this many punters could be as bad as or worse than Frost. Wow. Cut after one practice. Shocking.

Uh, could it be because the best available kickers are already on the roster?

(Except for Novak, of course, who was already on *someone else's* roster and therefore unavailable to come to camp until...now!)

It's not like kickers grow on trees. Remember having to slog through Jess Atkinson, Max Zendejas, Ali Haji-Sheikh, et al (Obed Ariri?!?!) before finally bridging the Mosely gap with Chip Lohmiller? And even Lohmiller sucked his first year (1988), and his total shelf life was about 5 years in the end, anyway.

Folks...relax. Breathe. The show starts in less than two weeks. This whole preseason nonsense is to give the airheads on ESPN something to talk about and something for Wilbon to be grumpy and ornery about. Anyone who has ever watched St. Joe coach knows that his teams come up lame in August and show life by November and December. And if they can get that far, the only other coach I'd want in January is "New England Coach"...that dude kicks my ass in Madden every night.

Oh, and Jason...if it's true that you'll be blogging all season, that's GREAT news.

It's lonely out here on the left coast without 'Skins news. We don't have anything to talk about in LA (except Tom Cruise, which amazingly enough has something to do with the 'Skins now!) and Seattle is quite possibly the dullest and whiniest football town in America.

Okay, maybe not as dull and whiney as Dallas...

Can we get a comment from Cooley about him being put at FB in Madden 07 instead of TE?

How good is Frost that his competition was canned after just 6 hours in uniform? Did Johnson even get a uniform?

Diddy

That's why you need a slingbox! I moved to New York, and I'm having no trouble watching Skins games now. And it's basically free once you get it set up.

Jason - thanks again for doing this blog, whatever they make you call it. Re the practice squad and defensive backs, i think Reed Doughty may be there cause they wont keep 5 safeties and 5 CBs right? or if Reed is the real deal, then this new Detroit Fox guy competes with Rumph and Morton for the last DB spot?

Since you went out on a limb on the Squad, why dont you try predicting the last people cut too?

ps - why is the comments option on Madden curse post "closed"?
