Edwin Mulitalo

The Ravens have officially released him now, but I imagine other teams may have already known this was imminent.
This guy has a huge frame, has put together a strong career and was hurt last year, with the Ravens undergoing a youth movement on their line.

I think he could give the Skins a good year or two and his appraoch to run blocking could be a perfect fit. Heard nothing concrete on this, but he's a name to watch.

You mentioned stop-gap in your previous update, and I'm thinking (you probably are as well) that if the Skins make the trade with Denver, a top prospect at OG could be had with the picks attained.

Mulitalo packs 350 pounds into a 6'3" body ... I hope his frame is "big".

Jason, does Mr. Hall's pick slip free up much in terms of cap space?

Posted by: dcsween | March 7, 2007 3:45 PM | Report abuse

I think we should bring in John Hall--I hear he is available

Posted by: Cheyenne, WY | March 7, 2007 3:45 PM | Report abuse

Lordy, don't sign him. Soon it'll be like the Over-the-Hill gang...again.

Good afternoon Cyn Cyty. That should have read Good News lol. OK I am out of here and going to the gym. Check back in afterwards.

how old is this dude?

JM, we report; we don't judge. Except when it comes to "24," which stinks.

Posted by: Cindy | March 7, 2007 3:48 PM | Report abuse

I have a big frame too. It has nothing to do with my affection for tiramisu and cheesecake, or better, tiramisu cheesecake.

Posted by: P Diddy | March 7, 2007 3:48 PM | Report abuse

24 sucks.

Is the John Hall relase a precursor to something happeing imminently? Hmmmmm...

Posted by: P Diddy | March 7, 2007 3:48 PM | Report abuse

No Cindy, "This Show Stinks"

Posted by: TK | March 7, 2007 3:49 PM | Report abuse

Jeff Hayes?! I have your jersey man! Actually it's a Heath Shuler #5 jersey with the "Shuler" ripped off. Unfortunately, they didn't sell Jeff Hayes jerseys.

Where is Chip Lohmiller. He's gotta be pretty well rested by now

Diddy- If you haven't had it, you MUST give it a try. I just gained 10 pounds thinking about it.

New thread! Seems that Jason has learned that they cut John Hall. See ya.

Fine. Mulitalo was an alternate Pro Bowler 3 years ago, but he's going on his tenth season. If he DOES come on board, then hopefully its only a one (or two) year contract max, planning for next year FA or high level draft. SHEESH!

Posted by: dcsween | March 7, 2007 4:14 PM | Report abuse

Edwin Mulitalo is an incredible guy, the kind of guy Gibbs used to love in the 80s. A religious guy, soft spoken, work ethic. I can't think of a better fit, and with Casey Rabach here, it's an absolute no-brainer...assuming he's healthy. One thing that Ravens line could do was run-block.

Posted by: Duke | March 7, 2007 6:08 PM | Report abuse

OK then, Duke, I retract my smack.

PLUS, these two bits sound good to me, esp. the management contract ...

1. Mulitalo, 32, was one of a handful of players remaining from the Ravens' Super Bowl championship squad of 2000.

2. Mulitalo said he hopes to keep playing. He was due $2 million in salary for 2007 and had a salary-cap figure of $2.85 million.

Posted by: dcsween | March 7, 2007 8:32 PM | Report abuse

Mulitalo if healthy is going to be a far cheaper option at OG than Leonard Davis turned out to be for the Cowboys. And, oh yeah, Mulitalo has already proven himself in big games/postseason.

Posted by: bulldog | March 7, 2007 8:51 PM | Report abuse

the only question regarding mulitalo, is how much is he asking for, and if this trade goes through which looks like it might and if they get bly, and sign him to a new contract, and along with the draft picks, are they going to have enough cap space, to sign every player since they might, get four picks and a player because 21st pick ovreall, might cost them around 8million bonus also 2nd and 3rd round picks might cost them some money along with it this is something they have to consider too.

Posted by: armen | March 7, 2007 11:44 PM | Report abuse

what you have to consider on mulitalo, at 32 is that how much does he have left and what is he's asking price from then you have to determine if he's worth say 4year conract 12miilion 8 bonus that is if he accepts that kind of contract.
