Europa RIP?? What It Means To Us

One day we shall all prosper with many free beers, merely for our bizarre attachment to Casey Bramlet alone. With all indications that NFL Europa is about to bite the dust, consider this scenario:

You're sitting in a bar in a far off time and place when some guys in the corner are talking football trivia, trying to remember who won that last World Bowl back in 2007. Immediately, your ears perk up. You go over and bet them each a beer and a shot that you can name the team, the MVP, and his stat line from the big game.

Thank you Casey Bramlet. Things are beginning to look up for us over at RI. You just made us future legends. Casey's 4-TD, 347-yard performance will (likely) go down as the last great day in NFL Europe history. And we're primed to reap all the ancillary benefits.

Everybody wins!

Well, everybody except me. My master plan of packing up the brood, shipping over to Holland and swinging a deal to cover Ajax 9 months out of the year and the Amsterdam Admirals in the spring for an English language paper is caput. The dream is over. Lauren is going to take this news really hard. But maybe now she'll finally be able to get full value on eBay for that Hamburg Sea Dogs whoopee cushion back from their inaugural season.

Seriously, folks, the NFL wants to take its primo product - real regular season games - to the European masses, and the minor league experience seems doomed. As was suggested on RI in a guest blog months ago - yeah, we're ahead of the curve people - why not move the spring developmental league to the states now? Lord knows we can't get enough football.

Other than that, not much going on. Skins on vacation and so am I. As of last evening I heard LaVar was still in the hospital. Nothing new on Keenan McCardell.

I am trying to distance myself as much as possible knowing the Skins will start ruling my life again on July 23, but still make some calls.. If anything pops up I'll post it on here, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Fear not, for we shall be overflowing with info come next month, but this is merely the calm before the storm. I may have a few guest blogs to post soon, and by all means keep them coming in if you want to get anything off your chest.

Hope you guys are having a great summer.
