Redskins Lead 7-3 after One Quarter
Well, Brooks giveth and taketh away. He got a lucky roll on the first punt, which led directly to the Skins' TD. Then he shanked one, which set up the Rams' field goal.
Neither team seems that fired up to me. Kind of a weird game.
And the Skins need to respond well to the first offensive turnover of the season.
They go 345 offensive plays to start the season without one, then Cooley fumbles to kill a drive.
Could be interesting game from here on out.

Following the game online, anyone see whether our defense is getting any pressure on Bulger?

cindy, what's wrong with portis?????
Posted by: dealer1 | October 12, 2008 1:56 PM | Report abuse
Ladell seems to be getting a lot of action -- something wrong with Clinton, or just sharing the load (which is smart)?

Can you say jinxed?!?!
Posted by: dealer1 | October 12, 2008 2:01 PM | Report abuse
This is just ugly. They're literally giving this game away. What team showed up today?
Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 2:02 PM | Report abuse
Horrors! Two turnovers already! We are GIVING this game to the Rams!
I had a really bad feeling about this game....looks like I was right :(

Nothing wrong w/ Portis... but can you say TRAP GAME!
We better keep our heads on straight.
Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 2:02 PM | Report abuse
At least they're getting all of these turnovers out of their system now.

It's still early, it's still early. Just gotta stay focused.

Do I not like this..."Hit Les! Carlton! CARLTON!!...Can you tell your friend he's lost me my job?"

The is the day I've been waiting for(i.e. mutiple TO's against inferior team). I think we the skins will handle this adversity.
Posted by: TWISI | October 12, 2008 2:04 PM | Report abuse
On any given Sunday...
I don't like the tone of this game but it's still very early. The one positive is that it's not anything the Rams are doing.

How ugly was JC's fumble? I'm stuck with watching the Bears & Falcons here in Louisville.
Posted by: JinxMan | October 12, 2008 2:06 PM | Report abuse
Well they didn't get point off the turnover. WAS needs to get control of this game back--and fast.

Defense rises to the occasion!

Jinx - Redskin Radio is on. better than a game we don't give an sjk about.
I'm PO'd 'cause my local bar decided to let two games that are already on Local TV be on the Big Screens. I spend alot of $$ there and don't like gettin' dissed.
I'll be going elsewhere for a while!
Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 2:08 PM | Report abuse
they should really put rookie wrs in

God Cooley not having a good game.

Cooley needs to sit down for a while. Fumbles, penalties - he isn't in the game right now.
Posted by: stevebeagrie | October 12, 2008 2:14 PM | Report abuse
They are giving this one away.

The defense has to step up here. That being said, however, this is a key test now for WAS. If they can hold STL off, then they will eventually overtake them. But they need to stop them on this drive that is just starting.
Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 2:16 PM | Report abuse
Ok, I know everyone - including me, has been down on Brooks - but what's wrong w/ pinning the Rams inside their twenty??!!
Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 2:18 PM | Report abuse
They stopped them again. So WAS should have plenty of time to move the ball downfield--or at least end the Half.

2:00 warning.

NFL.com charged the fumble to Rabach, not Campbell
Posted by: JinxMan | October 12, 2008 2:21 PM | Report abuse
absolutely, MofSJK.
Just forced another punt. Bolger 'short-armed' it according to Sonny. Definitely a pressure reaction
Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 2:21 PM | Report abuse
Dik, his punts have looked terrible. He's been lucky today because the ball has rolled forward an additional 20 yards.
Posted by: learnedhand1 | October 12, 2008 2:23 PM | Report abuse
I can't see the game, but if Betts is in there as part of some silly platoon thing, get him out and get Portis going.
This score is just silly.
PS - Horrible regional games today. I'm getting Falcons/Bears yawnfest.

Can Jansen play LG at all? Samuels may be out for a WHILE... eeegh.
Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 2:24 PM | Report abuse
ahhh - Fabini.. that'll do, I guess.
Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 2:25 PM | Report abuse
Everyone went mad after the Gints game about how terrible the 'Skins were and we've all enjoyed the big wins since. Maybe we're not good enough to perform at a high level every week?
I think we'll win today (if only because the Rams are so bad) nut, over 5 games the points differential is only +11. I think there may be a couple of games like this coming up where Washington will struggle to put the opposition away.
Anyway, we've got a drive going. My reverse jinx is on!
Posted by: stevebeagrie | October 12, 2008 2:25 PM | Report abuse
And with that catch, Cooley is redeemed.

I really am at a loss for words here. The last turnover was admittedly a freak accident but this is just getting ugly here. I'm really at a loss for words.

Can WAS take a step back and take control of the game back in the 2nd half?

Skins announced they were first team in NFL history to go first five games without an offensive turnover.
