Giants Lead 10-0 after 1 Quarter
The Redskins look very flat in all aspects of play. It reminded me right away of the game last year right after Sean Taylor died - the Buffalo game. They are making mental errors and just don't seem to be there. (Special teams blunder by Justin Tryon on the punt, trying to fill Leigh Torrence's role there, bad punt by Plackemeier, Boschetti's illegal fair catch).
Surprised how easily Eli Manning is shredding the secondary (then again, with Jason Taylor running aimlessly and with no pass rush, that will happen to you). New York completed 6 passes of 13 yards or more in its first 13 plays.
Zorn is going very conservative against the pass rush, with max protection, two wide and I formation for the most part.

A hideous display. And being down 17 points is a death sentence for a team that can't score when things are going good, let alone when nothing's going right.

we brought back the same roster we had last year, we thought for some reason they would be better than 9-7. Right now it looks like the same roster from last year.

So what adjustments do you make? Play the DBs a little tighter? Less crowding the box?

Read Jasno's post above: It's Boschetti's fault and Tryon's fault.

Did they actually stop them from scoring a touchdown? No pass interference penalties? Could they actually have done something effective?
Posted by: jiacinto | November 30, 2008 1:53 PM | Report abuse
Check that, jumped the gun, but even being down 13pts isn't good against the best team in football.
Posted by: justice98 | November 30, 2008 1:54 PM | Report abuse
It's only 13-0, as I predicted it would be after the 48 yeard play. Less than 2 scores. NOW, WHEN IS THE OFFENSE GOING TO SCORE?
I'm confident the defense will hold the Gints at 24 or under. It's time for our offense to start scoring TDs once in awhile!
Posted by: Alan4 | November 30, 2008 1:54 PM | Report abuse
Jacobs has 10 yards. CP has 8 yards. Both Ds taking away the run.
The difference? Seems like Manning and receivers catching the ball versus Campbell and receivers dropping the ball.

You know, I know we're not getting anything out of our rookie pass catchers, but if Devin Thomas can do anything, it should be to run deep. He doesn't have to think or show any skill, just run. Maybe we can get something downfield that way.

Talent Evaluator--I'm just realistic. Over the last 16 years I've watched the Redskins blow games that were winnable due to penalties, fumbles, interceptions, sacks, safeties, blocked punts, blocked field goals, dropped balls, and other stupid mistakes. I'm very cynical because I've gotten my hopes up, only to watch the same old Redskin team f!ck up every time.
Posted by: jiacinto | November 30, 2008 2:08 PM | Report abuse
First quarter Zorn is calling practically the exact same game he's called in the past few weeks. Run Portis twice, throw a slant to Moss.
Now he calls a wrinkle on the reverse and it works. You're probably not going to win on a steady diet of that, but I sometimes think Zorn gets too far into the "what we do works and we have to stick with it." Because it hasn't lately and teams see it coming now. Even Seattle's less than stellar defense stopped us.
It's just time to let this team have some fun.

You guys are such fair weather fans. You go nuts over every single play. Suisham has been a solid kicker as indicated by his FG % conversion. Granted lately he has been struggling a bit but why are you so quick to say oh he sucks, we need a new kicker blah blah blah. Same thing with Thrash. You're so quick to get on anybody who makes a mistake. Unless you can do better, shut up and stop whining like the sour lot you are.

This is going to be an ugly game. The season probably ends today unless Green Bay and San Diego win.
