Redskins Lead 7-0 after a Quarter

Great response by the defense to cause a fumble at the end of the quarter.

Greg Blache began the game playing more two deep safeties and the Cards ran the ball well, so he adjusted, went to his Cobra package - with a safety in the slot and three safeties on the field in all - and things clogged up. Skins in Cobra again on the fumble.

Jason Campbell was throwing the ball all over the place - 8 for 10 for 58 yards - and was rolling until that sack.

Stephone Heyer's injury is a concern (Cooley was quickly stationed next to Jon Jansen when he came on) and Durant Brooks had another poor punt, and was booed heartily. Heyer went in for X-rays.

Skins lead 7-0 and held the ball nearly 11 minutes of the opening quarter for the second straight week.

Good start to the game, agreed Thomas needs to get himself right.

Honey, when you're done playing on the computer in the basement can you come upstairs and fix the garbage disposal?

Time now for a furious Cardinal comeback or else King Card needs to dip into his private stock of rum rather early today...

Ok if you can read most the text on the ground take a knee redshirt.

This is Thomas's pre-season. Dude is so far behind.

Posted by: talent evaluator | September 21, 2008 1:47 PM | Report abuse

Why did he run that out of the end zone???? He was five yards into the end zone. (It isn't easy being a fubball purist.)

Posted by: Cindy | September 21, 2008 1:47 PM | Report abuse

You gotta figure that Brooks is way to far in his head. He needs to just receive, drop, kick, rinse and repeat . . . well hopefully not too often as we want to score.

Cards first turnover this season! (Right?) Go Skins!

Anon,
Thomas is pushing off every time the ball comes at him.

Honey, also don't worry about this morning. Plenty of guys "erupt" rather quickly while trying to please their wife.

However, since we married this has become an all-to-often occurance.

EL, JUST RUN FORWARD, YOU COULD HAVE GOT TO THE 35 RATHER THAN THE 28 IF U JUST HIT THE FIRST HOLE AVAILABLE.

Posted by: Alex35332 | September 21, 2008 1:51 PM | Report abuse

On that third down before the FG, Thomas was wide open... I think JC may be able to exploit that since he's now got a rep for staring down the receiver and telegraphing his throw... stare at Moss until the back releases, and go to the upman who is wide open.

Look for something along those lines in the second half after the team reviews that.

Randle El with another 20 yard punt return that only went 6 yards forward.

Posted by: talent evaluator | September 21, 2008 1:52 PM | Report abuse

Nice D! ARE out for punt return? Do you think they put Oye Como out first to show ARE what it's supposed to look like? See Antwaan RUN FORWARD . . . . no RUN FORWARD!

Posted by: sfskin | September 21, 2008 1:52 PM | Report abuse

What time does the game start today?

Posted by: Anonymous | September 21, 2008 1:53 PM | Report abuse

Can someone please explain to me why ARE does not run forward, but choses to run sideways? Seriously?!!?

Posted by: suzannepdc | September 21, 2008 1:53 PM | Report abuse

Miami 13
New England 3

I noted the same thing as Anonymous. Thomas was WIDE the f*ck open on that 3rd. That drive should have been a touchdown. I even mentioned to another Airman (a Cowboy phool) that Campbell stares down his primaries.

Umm what happened to the run game? Little more running perhaps?

Because he thinks he can make guys miss him and run past him.

following the game on nfl.com, so curious if thomas is really pushing off or if these are pretty ticky tacky calls?

also, how crazy is it that thrash is playing after suffering what amounts to a high ankle sprain last week ?!

Posted by: hailbg | September 21, 2008 1:57 PM | Report abuse

On that 1st down play, I was watching, did we only have 10 men?

Posted by: Alex35332 | September 21, 2008 1:57 PM | Report abuse

Too much passing. CP has it going. Let's ride him next offensive drive.

Gotta give it up for out DB's... Props to smoot, laundry, springs, CR, and the others... Came across some good videos of Smoot at http://jocklife.com/eng/video/redirect.cfm?sectionID=/video/videoGallery.cfm
you may need to scrool down the videos to find smoot...I know all us skins fans love listning to Smoot... lets keep it up next week vs. Dallas. I think if we can limit LF and AB we should be able limit TO
