Andre Carter is not unhappy with situation with Redskins

There have been reports recently, including in this space, about the possibility of the Redskins trading defensive end Andre Carter. And one reporter in the market has gone as far as to include Carter on the list of "unhappy Redskins."

But that's simply not the case. I know Carter very well, he's among the most positive and truthful athletes I've covered in 15 years working major beats, and I've talked and texted with him about his situation in the last few weeks. Much of what he has told me was off the record and will stay between us. I can, however, share this: He is not unhappy and should not be lumped in with anyone who has publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the team for any reason.

My guy, Jason La Canfora, reported Thursday night Carter would be open to being traded. Obviously, I know how Jason rolls, and no national guy out there is more accurate, in my humble opinion. But being open to the possibility of being traded is not the same thing as being disgruntled and demanding a trade.

The situation is complex. Carter is coming off the best season of his career, loved playing under former defensive coordinator Greg Blache, has a good relationship with owner Daniel Snyder and enjoys the career he has made with the Redskins. The defense, however, is in the process of shifting from a base 4-3 scheme to a hybrid 3-4 alignment -- and that's the problem for Carter.

He is best as a hand-down end. Carter struggled when he had to play linebacker for one season in a 3-4 scheme with the San Francisco 49ers. He had a lot of things going on in his life at the time, he once told me, and everything combined made it a horrible year for him.

From what Carter explained to me about the Redskins' plans for him, he would not be used in single coverage as much as he was with San Francisco. And he would still be able to put his hand down, in some packages, and just go after the quarterback. Will this work?

"Man, you know me, I try my best no matter what I do," he recently said. "I'll do everything I can to work and prepare myself, and I just put it in God's hands."

Carter is preparing to play outside linebacker for defensive coordinator Jim Haslett. He plans to be present for, well, the things for which the Redskins expect him to be present. This is not about tantrums and demands. At the end of the day, though, Carter might not be on the roster this season.

As we reported earlier this week, Carter has a no-trade clause for the length of his contract. As of this week, the Redskins had not approached Carter about waiving it in an attempt to facilitate a trade, people familiar with the situation said.

But Carter also is due a $3.2 million option bonus in July, and another of $4.075 million before the 2011 season, according to league sources who have reviewed his contract. Including his base salary of $1.3 million in the 2010 season, that's a lot of money for someone who might not fit in well into the Redskins' new defensive scheme.

Perhaps the Redskins will go to Carter in an attempt to find a better situation for him and them. If that happens, though, it won't be personal. It will just be business.

yeah.. but Shanny always does better with Redskin picks..
3 picks from the Skins in 2005 for JC, netted..
Karl Paymah, Starting CB
J.Cutler, Starting QB, 1 ProBowl, 08
B.Marshall, Starting WR, 2 ProBowls, 08,09

Decent draft! Here's an update:
Paymah - signed 1 year deal with the Vikings in 2009
Cutler - whined his way to the Bears
B. Marshall - tendered with a 1st round pick, just like JC.

===================================
Yeah, and we got JC, who has led the Skins to a total of 4 NFC East victories in 5 years.. and no playoffs.
I'll take Cutler, Marshall and Paymah anytime over one JC at QB.

=====================================
correct that.. You can drop Paymah.. just read his bio..

Not surprised. JLC just can't resist trying to create controversy when it comes to the Redskins.

Which means The Danny is STILL living rent-free inside JLC's head.

One thing that bothers me:

Why are so many people are complaining about Orakpo as a LB? It is continually posted up here that he is "playing out of position". All I have to say is that there are plenty of college DEs that have been converted to OLBs in the pros... especially in the 3-4 scheme. And they do pretty damn well year in and year out.

If he was drafted by some other team that ran the 3-4 they would play him as an OLB just like we will... I don't know too much about football as I've never played, but it seems like it will work our fine to me. Why can't Rak be as nasty an OLB as Dummerville or Ware?

If we are going to be bad next year, and we will be, might as well trade the few players worth somethign and get draft picks so 2 to 3 years from now we will have something. In 3 years Moss, Carter and Portis will not be on this team anyways.

Andre's "best season" did not come because of Andre, it was because of Albert... The illusion that it was all Andre makes him perfect trade bait. He's a nice guy and a hard worker, but average... let's jump on this opportunity, for the sake of Oline or other needs.

By JReid saying he won't share their convo and him consistently writing that the 3-4 won't work for Carter tells me that Carter wants to go somewhere else next year.

agree Barack, to some degree,
At 4-12 you're closer to expansion team caliber than playoff team caliber. And you cant point to the close games last year.. Many scores got close AFTER the opponents went into Prevent D, near the end of the games.
Admission to such "expansion level" logic wont sell tickets in 2010 but with a "no quick fix" personnel approach, it will build a foundation for 2011 and beyond.
Skins should grab the picks for vets when they can, for either for 2010 or 2011.
My guess, its what BA is telling Dan.. Lets clear the dead weight and cap in 2010 for the structured position slotted Contracts and tremendous cap room in 2011.

This is precisely why I ask why the flying fig are we messing up the defense. It's not like there aren't any holes on the offense. One thing is to change systems to be more effective but it's another thing to just change it because you have the authority. Now we're changing personel in the d-lines and linebackers. For what? Last year the Redskins faced a perfect storm of negative events. They performed and posted a mark record below the sum of their parts. Major injuries on the Oline, to Cooley, to Portis, major coaching deficiencies exposed on a regular basis.

We should count our blessings though, because if they had managed to keep everyone healthy and win a few more games, Dan would not have finally folded the crappy hand he has been playing with for the last several years.

Super bowl talk is silly, at least among the fan base. But, to quote old Ron Reagan, its morning again in Ashburn. Better days are ahead.

The impression I get is that he's a solid player, but considered somewhat of a bust as the 13th overall pick. He could be a Philip Daniels-type role player (albeit younger with more potential), but the Rams were counting on him as a guy to build around, and he just wasn't up to par in that respect.

bangkokben- I agree with you changing the defense seems to be opening up problems we cant afford to have right now... Opens up holes on the defensive side, which added to the holes on the offense really puts this team in an even worse position than it was after the season ended....

However, Shanny spent his year off from coaching learning all about the 3-4, its positive aspects and negative ones and he came out of it thinking that it is a superior defense, thus his desire to move towards it...

Looking at our team, we are much closer to earning the #1 overall pick than we are to competing, so if there ever was a time to change our defensive philosophy now would be that time. What do we have to lose if it takes 2 years to perfect? I mean, even with a top 10 defense next year, much like this year, were still more likely to finish 4-12 than we are to finish 10-6...

If Shanny thinks the 3-4 is a better defense, why not make the change now when our team really cannot get any worse... and build it up with our offense, in hopes of having them both gel and mesh in 2 years, making us a decent playoff, super bowl contending team...

Just a thought...

We can't not change Defensive schemes if the coaches are gone.

I agree, it would be nice to keep some version of the previous scheme and let Shannahan fix the offense, after all, it was working pretty well and could be tweaked, but that's just not possible.

I just hope that the "hybrid Redskins D" can work in the NFC East. It's actually comforting that they're going after players to help make the transition.

Bean.... my point wasn't that thats what going to happen... I was, agian PLEASE GO BACK AND READ MY POSTS, asking what people would THINK about having Ben here... it wont happen... it was a thought after i read that if Ben rapes another women (which at this point it seems likely) the Steelers will get rid of him... I was curious how people would respond to him being on our team, him being a child molestor and a rapist... at no point did i say that we were going to do it, at no point did i say we should do it... again at NO point did I EVEN SAY IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN... i was just curious as to opinions... seeing as this is a BLOG and everyone is giving their OPINIONS... i felt that, since there is a TINY possibility of it happening, I'd like to hear what people think...

Man... Bean, I held you in a little higher regard then Red... Red clearly is a repressed little boy who, clearly gets his as* kicked regularly, as he takes his anger out on people on this blog.. threatens them and asks them to "meet up with him..." You however, while not going to that level, really cannot read, or comprehend what people post. Your opinions are typically as bad as Red's.. just not as angry... please stop misquoting me... and please stop making HILARIOUS jokes about how we should trade rock for AP... you clearly do not understand much either...

"This is precisely why I ask why the flying fig are we messing up the defense. It's not like there aren't any holes on the offense. One thing is to change systems to be more effective but it's another thing to just change it because you have the authority. Now we're changing personel in the d-lines and linebackers. For what? So we can have the same crappy defenses that the Broncos had for the past whatever years!

Posted by: bangkokben | March 12, 2010 12:38 PM"

A couple things:

(1) The Broncos under Shanahan never ran a 3-4. They were almost always a 4-3, and switched this past season to a 3-4 under Mike Nolan with pretty amazing results.

(2) As a 4-3 defense, we were far from perfect in the front 7. We were very short-changed on LBs even last season. The transition to a 3-4 actually assisted in shoring up this position, because 2 of our top 5 LBs last season -- Orakpo and Wilson -- are MUCH better suited to play OLB in the 3-4 rather than 4-3. Fletcher and Rocky were better in a 4-3, but both of them are much better suited to transition to a 3-4 than Orakpo and Wilson were to a 4-3.

(3) We're filling our holes on the defensive front 7 via free agency and possibly trades. So why is this a big deal? Had we stayed in a 4-3, the only difference would be that we probably wouldn't have signed Kemoeatu, which would have had absolutely zero effect on our ability to rebuild the offense. I can see complaints if we were forced to use the #4 overall pick on the front 7, but that's not the case. This is not hampering our ability to build the offense in the least.

Posted by: psps23 | March 12, 2010 1:05 PM | Report abuse

Speaking of Rock Cartwright, I'm shocked...just completely shocked that he hasn't broken the bank yet in free agency. Hmmmm. Well, I'm sure PFT will be all over it when it happens.

Posted by: 4-12 | March 12, 2010 1:05 PM | Report abuse

Also, to people commenting on Denver's D when Shanny was there... they ran a 4-3. Go back, look at film. They ran a weak 4-3 with our DBS coach running the scheme. I cant remember his name. Their biggest weakness was the dline, and that is something Shanny seems to have a great interest in this offseason.

I'm not saying this will work, but I see no downside to us at least trying to adapt to where the league is going. Something like 15 teams ran a form of the 3-4 last year. Green Bay had the best D in the league, nad they moved to the 3-4 LAST YEAR. We need the personnel to run it, and at the moment we do not have it...

Clearly our D is going to struggle next year, but I am ok with that because we are going to be a bad team. But I really do not have a problem as long as we keep building towards the right personnel, and that means drafting more lbs, especially ones who can play inside... and better, stronger DBS who can play thebump and run style that the 3-4 requires.

Posted by: Oogalaboogala | March 12, 2010 12:29 PM | Report abuse

My sense of it is that Carriker has been something of a disappointment. He was taken in the top half of the first round in '07, and I don't think his play has quite measured up to that lofty draft position. That doesn't mean, though, that he can't be a useful player in the right defense, and I'm pretty sure Haslett coached him in St. Louis, so he knows what the guy can do.

Okay. This is the kiss of death. Carter will be gone before the weekend is out.

I won't dispute that Carter is a stand up guy who has some skill, but if he doesn't fit, he doesn't fit. Contrary to some of the opinions on the conversion to a 3-4, I don't believe there is such a thing as a 3.5 - 3.5: you either are a 3-4 defense or a 4-3 defense. Sure you can put a linebacker's hand in the dirt and say you're running a 4-3 sometimes, but then you're just playing with semantics. Carter doesn't fit. He may not be disgruntled, but he sure would rather play in a 4-3 than a 3-4.

Last time I checked, you're an adult at the age of 18, which would make somebody under 18 a child and a 20-year old an (say it with me now)...adult!

Age of consent in Georgia: 16

So I guess that would make Ben an adult molestEr?

flounder... thats a good point and i my initial respose was retared... 16 is actually the age of consent in maryland, and she has all the right in the world to get with whoever she wants...

However, that does not excuse Ben for going to a college bar filled with girls who are 18, 19, 20. For any of you to say that he didn't go out with the intention of getting with one of them, is stupid...seeing as he did get with one of them (possibly more, who knows.) I respectfully disagree on the 3-4.

Here is what I see:

LE Ancient but good P. Daniels
NT Achilles not healed yet giant Samoan
RE Fat Albert

Montgomery and Golston are back-ups

OLB Brian Orakpo
ILB London Fletcher (aging)
ILB H.B. Blades/Rocky Mac
OLB Somebody other than Andre Carter, Wilson, Jarmon, or Alexander

So what makes since about having no depth in d-line - let alone missing at least one starter, 5 OLBs that have minimal experience playing the position in this system and only one sure fire starter inside?

There are holes everywhere that will have to be addressed in the draft as well.

Btw, Wilson being tended low and Alexander being moved to OLB pretty much informs us what they think about him.

Thats fair flounder, I agree child molestor was not the right word and was a mistake, I am sorry... my point is still the same tho, he is a sleezy man who is rapidly losing the respect of his own organization... Sportswriters in Pittsburgh are extremely tentitive of writing anything negative of the steelers, they have been for years, and none seem to be holding back when it comes to how stupid Roethlisberger has been the last 2 years... and dont let us forget his genius idea to ride his motercycle without a helmet, only to crash and break his skull and jaw bone... And I will blame him a little for going to that bar. He knew what he was doing and he knew the response he would get... right or wrong, he is also responsible as well...

I am just saying, the man is not a model citizen, and as i was asking earlier, I am curious to see what people would think of him if... now bean i want you to read this clearly, if, HE SOMEHOW is released from the Steelers (again, say he assaults another girl or something)...and he is then on the open market... would you welcome him to DC? That is all my post meant to do, ask peoples opinions on him... in a way that would make them actually think about it instead of just asking "what do you think of Ben Roethlisberger."

La Canfora detests the Redskins because of Snyder and while his fever pitch has waned with Allen and Shanahan coming on board, he is still inclined to include mostly negative tid-bits on the team when they appear or he can make them appear.

Great, so there's the possibility of the Skins getting rid of their leader in sacks, tackles for a D lineman, and tackles behind the line of scrimmage. All for the sake of this fashionable 3-4 that probably will be out of style in 3 yrs. Wonderful..And the icing on the cake: They might have a very injury prone front 3 starting next season. It makes you wonder if there's a correlation between Shanny's crappy defenses of the last couple of yrs in Denver and now basically blowing everything up on defense here too.

No, you said that , and I quote, “Ben clearly is trying to take advantage of these young girls”, and that “This girl, without a doubt wanted it. She obviously was all over him,”

Yes, he admitted to “an encounter” with the girl, everything else is stuff that you are inferring from the tiny little bit of news that has been released thus far. I’m guessing that you are watching too much TMZ.

Since you have backpedalled on the child molester comments, your getting a little bit more coherent here, but you are still just plain talking out of your azz with all of the other stuff you infer.

I just can't imagine the sheer stupidity of someone so well known as Ben or Tiger who thinks they can actually do it whereever and whenever with whoever they want... including total strangers... for free... and then remain anonymous.

Carricker(sp?) and Barron to the Skins for Campbell and Carter. This works for both teams. Takes the pressure off the Rams to have to draft a QB with 1st pick and allows them to take the sure-shot DT. Carter replaces Leonard Little. Skins acquire young linemen and Shanny is free to draft and develpe his QB.

Andra Davis would be a good linebacker pick up too.

For a guy like Big Ben, even with his lack of charisma and looks… all he needs to do walk is walk into a bar and throw a rock. I guess he needs better aim and judgment.

He’s just as much of a target as the girls he’s after. He’s shown poor judgment as he did when he was riding his crotch rocket without a helmet, let’s hope for his sake that he’s wearing a helmet during his other joy rides.

I will say this, though. It is quite common for 28 year olds and college coeds to hook up, and I rarely see it frowned upon, especially if the coed is 21 or older.

I think BR was silly to put himself in that position, but I don't view his "wants" as any different from most 28 year olds...he just needs to be much more careful than most 28 year olds.

You have to realize... he admitted there was "an encounter" but that they didn't have sex. Now what does that mean. It means, something happened, but he didn't screw her... now my point is that she wanted that something to happen and so did Ben. She is clearly a skanky little girl, and he is a sleezy 28 year old star. I blame both for this, her a little more for trying to profit from it... but still Ben needs to learn something, after this happened once you think he wouldn't go around and do it again. I really do not care if he screws every girl he sees... thats not the point.

He needs to learn from his mistakes and he doesn't seem to be doing that, both on the field and off. He is talented yet seems intent on throwing his career away for some reason.

"Btw, Wilson being tended low and Alexander being moved to OLB pretty much informs us what they think about him.

Posted by: bangkokben"

Shanahan is on record as saying he only has the game film of players for judgment purposes, and as such can't make judgments on a number of the backup players we have. Wilson fills this assumption. And they tendered Alexander low as well, but ended up resigning him anyway. The low tender on Wilson doesn't really say anything other than they aren't sure what they have.

And I'm not quite following your assessment of how the 3-4 is creating more needs. You have 5 out of 7 players on the roster slotted as starters already. And that's assuming that none of Rocky Mac, Chris Wilson, Lorenzo Alexander, Jeremy Jarmon, or Andre Carter can start.

Daniels may be ancient, but he doesn't magically get younger in the 4-3. Same with Fletcher. If they constitute a "need" in the 3-4, the also do the same in a 4-3. And Golston and Montgomery were backups in the 4-3 anyway, so nothing changed there.

The strength of this defense, personnel-wise, is its versatility. We have a number of players that can, have, and will move around to a number of different positions. That's no secret, and has been echoed several times by Shanahan himself.

Here's what I see:

LE/RE: Haynesworth, Daniels, Golston, Jarmon, Alexander

NT: Kemoeatu, Haynesworth, Golston, Montgomery

OLB: Orakpo, Wilson, Carter, Alexander, Jarmon, McIntosh

ILB: Fletcher, McIntosh, Blades, Henson

That's 14 players in the front 7, with each single position at least 4 players deep. This is assuming no further free agent acquisitions, and no draft picks allotted to this area of the team. Defenses usually eat up 25 roster spots. Say we pick up one extra lineman in FA, and one extra LB. That gives us 16 players in the front seven and 9 players in the secondary (5 corners, 4 safeties -- or vice versa).

Seems to me that there are plenty of options for this defense.

Paul Burmeister, NFL Network:

Love that question. One that I asked on Path to the Draft last night. It's been just a given in draft conversations that Detroit will take McCoy or Suh, but given the investment they've made in Stafford, and the incredibly high rankings of Okung...why not the left tackle? I think it'd make perfect sense.

The thing here isn't that Ben can't get with 20 year olds... go ahead. Im sure he has in the past and will continue to in the future. The thing here is, that he has been accused of sexual assault before. He has been through this and seems content on putting himself in the same situation again and again, that to me is sleezy. Also, using his millions of dollars to influence young 20 year olds, to me is sleezy (mainly becaue I do not have millions of dollars, and would really love to them).

Either way, he needs to make better decisions. Women now see him as a target, and they will take advantage of this. Once is a mistake, twice is a trend, and three times is a pattern. The man has made 3 fairly large mistakes, first almost killing himself by crasching his motorcycle while not wearing a helmet, and now twice getting with skanky girls looking for money...

The man clearly has poor taste in women, which is sad because with his stature he could get almost anyone he wanted...

I agree that he is putting himself in positions that he shouldn’t and should have learned from past mistakes. Let’s just say that you should have led with your closing statement to have avoided all of this back and forth. My point was that you are inferring/assuming much of your argument and calling it fact. You even did it again above saying that “She is clearly a skanky little girl, and he is a sleezy 28 year old star”…..when no real facts have been released, and you don’t know who she is or what really happened. Maybe you are just trying to grandstand, I don’t know (Let’s not forget that you actually called Ray Lewis a Murderer in your original; post on this topic).

"Of course it doesn’t matter how many women Ben or Tiger sleep with as long as those losers Campbell and Portis are on the Redskins. Trade them now!"

Dhaze1 -- Pleased to see you're finally coming aboard with your thinking.

Truth is, this team will never win so long as these losers are with the Redskins -- but we can understand why so many are reticent to change.

For instance and based on performance to date, we gotta figure that winning don't much matters to Little Danny either -- who really only worries about putting butts in (premium) seats and taking his share of the revenue from concessions, parking, souvenirs, television licensing fees, etc.

The long and short of it -- and for as long as he owns the team, the Little Czar in elevator shoes is going to pay for 53 players and a dozen coaches or so to put on a show. And win, lose or draw -- it don't make much difference, just so long as the golden goose keeps laying her little eggs.

So Little Danny can put up with a few ass clowns like CP26 and JC17, especially since he has already paid for them.

Besides, gettign rid of them would only require another (possibly higher) expenditure, and what's the return on investment in any of that?

Why was it when that cumbag in Denver made up the story about her being raped by Kobe, everyone and their Mama knew without a shred of doubt that he was guilty?

But with Ben, even with one situation hanging over his head STILL, he gets the benefit of the doubt.

See my people, today's word is: Inconsistency.

Again.

---------------

I can only answer for me. I never presumed Kobe was guilty of rape, just of being a d!ck. Now I pretty much feel the same way about BR. My feelings about Kobe may have developed more quickly because A.) I never really liked him before (based on very little, I admit, but athletes are in the public eye and even though I don't "know" any of them they do make impressions on me, both positive and negative.) and my opinion of Ben R. has always been pretty indifferent; and B.) Kobe's married, which is his business, but cheaters typically don't gain my sympathy.

That's what I don't get.

The way kids 'grind on' and grab and feel each other up in clubs makes you wonder how any of them could claim they were assaulted.

But Ben gots loot, so even a hoe will claim she wasn't paid enough.

Fred, i dont know, because its a boring question... its way more fun to do it this way haha...

By the way, Ray Lewis is a murder. If you followed the case, it was clear he beat the shi^ out of the man. No question about it, Ray lewis's actions killed that man. My point with this girl, and Ben are that to me, thats sleezy. A girl going out to get with a star... simply to get with him. I'm not saying I don't go out looking for asz, hey everyone does... but when its a 20 year old going to a bar to bang a super star thats skanky to me... sorry... not saying i wouldn't take part of i was a star but its still skanky to me...

Either way, Red aside, my point about Ben is that he is not a good person (this one act does not make him a bad person... its his personality and all the other things hes done that do) and that to be he does not deserve the benefit of the doubt. A man who is honest and lives his life the right way, earns benefit of the doubt... a man who is a dbag to everyone, acts like a spoiled super star and is accused of assaulting women not once but twice... im sorry loses that right to assumed innocence... not in the eyes of the law, but in the eyes of the public.

i did read the other day on a plane that a statement on a blog, was used in a defamation suit...I pretty sure it was used against a rambler for calling Rush Limbaugh a racist and he won, might have the actual star wrong, but I just read the article and it actually held up in court, strange.

In a move that is sending shock-waves through out the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers have begun the process of distancing themselves from their qb Ben Rothlisburger, and are on the verge of cutting him outright. Embroiled in another case where a woman is accusing him of sexual assault, the Rooney Family is said to have tired of waiting for Ben to grow up, and are looking into recouping some of the money from Bens contract. The Steelers have called a press conference for 4pm, today. Stay tuned.

If it was up tome I'd try to trade both Carter and Cooley for draft picks -- 4th round and below. These guys can play but their best years are behind them and Colley is coming off an injury.

It might hurt next year but in the long run it would be greatly beneficial assuming the Redskins are competent at drafting now. Not sure I know the answer to that.

In any case, it 's time to keep Danny to his word about changing things. That starts with means building a whole team with many draft picks over several seasons.

You just did it again with the quote “a man who is a dbag to everyone, acts like a spoiled super star and is accused of assaulting women not once but twice...” He’s a dbag to everyone all of a sudden and is a spoiled superstar? “A girl going out to get with a star... simply to get with him “ You apparently “know” that she heard he would be there and went out with the sole purpose to get with him? You can’t back up half the stuff you say with facts. I don’t even want to get started on how wrong you are with Ray Lewis. You’re just making shti up, so I’m done. Nevermind.

In Maryland, the 4 year age difference matters if she/he is under 14. If the child is 14 or 15, it's a crime if the other person is 21 or older. Once they hit 16, they can lawfully consent.

Mike, PA2:37 PM ET
Would the logical pick for the Lions be Okung?

Paul Burmeister, NFL Network:

Love that question. One that I asked on Path to the Draft last night. It's been just a given in draft conversations that Detroit will take McCoy or Suh, but given the investment they've made in Stafford, and the incredibly high rankings of Okung...why not the left tackle? I think it'd make perfect sense.

Posted by: 4thFloor | March 12, 2010 2:17 PM | Report abuse

Supposedly the Lions actually like their left tackle. They blame their sacks on the RB, TE, RT, and interior line. They claim Backus is doing his job. I don't see them taking a LT. I mean they could but it just seems odd. That would be like us taking a left guard. It's probably the one spot on the line they don't need to fix. I'd be more worried about Tampa taking a Okung. Tampa was ok in pass pro but completely god awful in run blocking. I think they'd take Okung just for the boost it would add in the run game. Both teams were close to last in stopping the run and the 2 best propsects in the draft are DTs. I think the only way one picks Okung is if the Rams take one of the DTs.
