Sproles no longer a free-agent possibility for Redskins

It should be an interesting 24 hours for the Washington Redskins.

General Bruce Allen is scheduled to meet with reporters at 7 p.m. We'll tell you later what exactly he has to say, but we expect to see the team's list of tendered offers, which we've tried to document here, and also some possible roster cuts.

It's doubtful that Allen will lay out the Redskins' exact free agency plans, but we can scratch one name off the team's presumed wish list: running back Darren Sproles.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chargers have had a change of heart and will keep Sproles on their roster. They've decided to place a first- and third-round tender on Sproles, who becomes a restricted free agent at 12:01 a.m., and that should be enough to scare off any suitors.

The Chargers had initially announced that they would not tender Sproles, which would've made him an unrestricted free agent, and it was believed the Redskins might pursue him. Washington was one of four teams Sproles had planned to visit this weekend, according to the Union-Tribune. The others were Kansas City, St. Louis and Philadelphia.

More from Rogers

Carlos Rogers continued his critique of the Redskins on the LaVar Arrington show with Chad Dukes on 106.7. JReid had his earlier comments.

Well...that should save us from making an expensive mistake.

I wasn't sold on Sproles anyway,

Stay classy San Diego. Since the skins dont have to worry about Sproles, they should be looking at McKnight,Holiday, and hopefully McCluster's draft stock continues to fall

Is there an echo in here?

So it turns out, the Chargers finally noticed that Tomlinson wasn't on the roster?

Meh, no big loss fom where I sit.
There'll be other Sproles-like running backs around. And they will probably come cheaper than the original.

Just get players with a hunger for winning, then coach'em up. Thats half the battle there.

From the Rogers comments:

"Coming off injury, when you think I'm not gonna be in there, and I go out the first game and I'm your starter....I'm on y'all number one receivers, shutting them down. So it's like, through all the stuff that you do, how you all show that y'all appreciate them? By tendering them? That's your way? There's so much negative stuff you think, but at the end of the day I guess you can't control it."

Shutting them down?? Who did he shut down?? He nearly shut down my TV every time I threw the remote at it for his boneheaded play.

"Carlos Rogers continued his critique of the Redskins on the LaVar Arrington show with Chad Dukes on 106.7...."

If 'Los was this persistent in his tip drill efforts, maybe he'd be better at hanging onto some of those passes that keep hitting him in the hands and chest.

Too bad NFL Europe no longer exist- would be the perfect place to ship CR until he learns how to be a CB.

Well, he found the perfect show to b!tch and moan on. Of course I'm talking about the Lavar show of course, where Dan Snyder/Redskins bashing is taken to a higher art form.

Once again I wish someone would ask Carlos if he felt he has lived up to the number 9 overall pick. If he answers truthfully, then he already knows why he got tendered, because it sure is clear to the rest of us

REPOSTED FROM PREVIOUS THREAD:

According to the mayor, "The Redskins do not want to pay Portis almost $7 million to sit at home. That's why he wasn't on our list of potential cuts."

-- All well and good, I guess, but I also wonder whether Little Danny worries much about losing a "measley" $7 MILLION minor cog, particularly when said minor cog might be adversely affecting so many other aspects of his much larger enterprise, valued by some as worth more than $2 BILLION in revenue per year.

And if as some allege it is true as that Little Danny wants to win in the worst possible way, some might also suggest that it could begin with the pruning of some deadwood that is just taking up roster space.

pred, agreed, he's a fraud...ship his backside out for a 4th round pick....you can't fix stupid, nor can you fix suck....and Carlos has them both...

Wow, SD may have just gotten themselves the most disgruntled man in the league. If RM and CR think they got it bad, just look west. Ouch for DS. Am glad 4 'skins missing that though.

Can we send CR to the D League?

Insofar as Rogers critiqueing the Redskins, it's one thing to talk when your play backs it up but another to talk when you are a corner who has gotten beaten like a drum for all but a 6 game stretch over the last 4 years.
Heres hopeing he isn't a Redskin next year but don't expect to get much of anything for a goat.
