Ryan and Clausen both played 7 teams in the regular season with winning records and two of Ryan's were UMass and Bowling Green. The only quality opponents were VA Tech and Wake. Clausen you could argue had 3 Pitt, Navy, and USC. I'm not saying he's better than Matt Ryan, I'm just saying numbers wise he compares very favorable and he was on a worse team with a very comparable schedule. Everyone says Jake Locker is the best QB coming out next year and he guided a 5-7 team in the pac-10. Everything I've read on Clausen says his ability to read defenses, toughness, and accuracy are excellent, he played in a pro style offense, and has an above average arm. The only real knocks on him have been questions of maturity/leadership. I don't know if he's going to be great or not, but nobody on here does either and to pretend that as long as we also address our oline that its a bad pick if they take clausen or bradford is silly. I have no idea if either are going to be great, but I do know that if Shanahan thinks Campbell isn't and gets rid of him and drafts one of the two that he has a lot more knowledge, experience, and insight into good QB's (coached Elway, Young, and Montanna) than we do and he's had two losing seasons in the last 14 he's coached, has two super bowls, and will be in the HOF. I'll trust his opinion of the ones on here and support it instead of pretending I know more than him and that my opinion of next years potential QBs is more valid.

He doesn't know?
Sounds like he is extremely dependent upon his agent.

Do you think he'll bother to ask before he signs the tender?

Could they have had less to report?

I hope someone is dumb enough to pursue Rogers and we get a number one pick for that loser!

Posted by: Sports_Guru | March 4, 2010 12:40 PM | Report abuse

I think the FO wants to get these guys into the OTAs and see how they practice and fit into their schemes. They might work out, if not you release them at a later date.

Posted by: TWISI | March 4, 2010 12:42 PM | Report abuse

Be thankful of this uncapped year. Half these guys would not be with the Redskins if there had been a salary cap.

And half the guys about to get cut would have been essentially forced to stay Redskins.

This is a good year to rebuild the roster. Under the former CBA, it might have taken us 2 or 3 years to accomplish what we're able to do in 1 this offseason.

Real knocks on Clausen are also he's kinda short for an NFL QB. And his arm is probably closer to "average" than "above average" in the NFL.

That said, D. Brees and Philip Rivers don't have great arms either, nor are they tall guys.

In terms of measurables, Clausen doesn't come off that well. However Zeke makes a good case that the guy is a winner and performs in pressure situations. If he can convince a head coach that he reads defenses well, is accurate, and can throw with timing, he'll go high in the draft.

I hope Jessica Biel is laying naked on my bed when I get home, I think that is more realistic then a team giving up a 1st rounder for CR22

Whoops -- Rivers is tall 6'5" but the arm still ain't that strong. Farve has a cannon but isn't tall...

WAS: Veteran Center to Visit
by Adam Caplan of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, March 4, 2010 at 11:57am ET

Casey Wiegmann Profile

Veteran C Casey Wiegmann, who was released by the Denver Broncos last week, is expected to visit the Washington Redskins on Thursday, a league source told Scout.com.

Wiegmann played for new Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan for one season (2008) during Shanahan's final season as the head coach of the Broncos.

With starting C Casey Rabach unsigned, the Redskins could be starting to look for his possible replacement.

Dude, if Jessica Biel is lying naked on your bed when you get home, chances are that there's a naked guy on top of her.

If you stay away long enough you have to change your handle on RI...I was Oldschool then OriginalOldschool, now OriginalOldschool1 anyway, I hope to contribute more often or else next time you hear from me I will be OOS2010.....

Warren could rotate in at NT

@Adam_Schefter Look for Raiders to release RB Justin Fargas and DT Gerard Warren before they have to pay their roster bonuses in the coming days. about 2 hours ago

---------

Also keep an eye out for Shaun Rogers, he has a sizable roster bonus coming up.

Redskins | May have interest if A. Rolle released

They won't cut Rogers. Perhaps we could work out a Rogers for a Rogers deal and send Carlos over to the rust belt for a true NT. The league would have to ban the combo of Rogers/Haynesowrth before they ranout of healthy QBs. That would be too nasty.

So midnight tonight is the deadline to get the CBA ratified, or else face an uncapped 2010 and potential work stoppage in 2011…..are the 2 sides even speaking at this point? I know it is obviously prudent to be making free agency plans based upon the CBA not getting ratified by tonight, but it sounds to me like they gave up on this without really trying. You have to wonder what kind of negotiation efforts will be put forth to get a new agreement in place at all. One year and counting………

Pro Football Talk thinks that Rogers will attract some teams. (I am referring to an actual PFT post and I've attached a link to prove that I'm not just making this stuff up like some other unprincipled posters up here.)

"1. Carlos Rogers, Redskins CB: He's had an up-and-down career, but the former top-ten pick would certainly garner interest if made available."

Posted by: Veretax | March 4, 2010 1:28 PM | Report abuse

Who cares about Will Montgomery? I want to know where is Redskin 1? Is it gassed up and ready to go? Have flight plans to N. Carolina been filed with the FAA?
