A Burgundy-on-Burgundy Night

There are alot of Steelers fans here -- more than I have seen from an opposing team before.

Lot of rumors going around that this will be the Anchorman game - Skins in burgundy on burgundy. And indeed it's true. We will all be seeing red tonight.

To me this game will come down to protecting Jason Campbell, not getting too cute, and going with alot of heavy personnel and trying to outslug this opponent. They'll try to manage the clock, not give them kill shots for injuries and turnovers on the blitz. Running, running and running some more running. You spread the Steelers, you often pay for it.

Not sure if Chris Samuels will play, or Santana Moss for that matter. Once warmups start we will have a better idea. Should be a wild night. Stay tuned.

I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

First; Let's hope we make them see red in more ways than one.

Geez! First they go to the black freakin' shoes, then the all white uni's, NOW burgundy on burgundy. Rumor has it that Portis is the guy (probably one of several) that picks...or suggests...the uniforms for each game. If so, the dude needs to focus on running the football(which he does very well) and stay away from attempts at making a fashion statement!

I don't get the Uni obsession....who cares....I hate that the steelers fans are there but knew it would happen......F fans who sell their tix to oppossing fans. Also Snyder's hands are dirty here as well....

Oh well, lets SHUT'EM UP!!!!!

I played mid field for the Redskins back in 2004 and I can tell you, we hated the burgundy on burgundy. But every time we wore it, we would win by 4 or 7 goals. Big cheese sale tonight!

Even at 6-2 the opposing fans are running amok in our stadium. I guess it's up to the Burgundy on Burgundy unis to take out the terrible towel wavers.

I have really come to loath steelers fans.....so self important.....f'em

With the way Portis is balling, I wouldnt care if he had'em out their with pink on mauve!!!!!!

The more burgundy and gold, the better.

The white on white? No.

There's 92,000 seats at FedEx Field.

I started getting emails for availability for this game 3 weeks ago.

Then you have stub-hub and craigslist.

Not hard at all to get these tickets. Not hard at all. Can't the game......

Now, if we had a 55,000 seat stadium, that would be different.....

I DO care if we look like clowns -- not to mention that, hel-lo, the freakin' home uniform is white jerseys and burgundy pants -- but to go along with that everyone else says, as long as we play serious ball I'll be all right with it.

Come on, you Redskins!

Posted by: NateinthePDX | November 3, 2008 5:25 PM | Report abuse

I like that they are experimenting with the look. Biggest problem is that the entire uniform, no matter how you match it is 15+ years outdated. HATE the fat stripes. It is TIME for an update. I loved the throwbacks they wore last year with the thin stripes. I would like to see yellow pants again. Go with that 1969 uni with the current burgundy helmet and be done with it.

Why mess with what was working (re: unis)???

Remember the "throwback jersey" debacle last season?

Again, I ask: why mess with what was working??? *sigh*

We have traditionally done well against the Steelers and I expect a big Redskins victory tonight.

I am an old school Skins fans from North Carolina and am writing this from deep within the state. Before the Panthers, the Carolinas were the exclusive territory of the Skins. Many of us never switched over. I have seen Redskins jerseys, sweatshirts and hats throughout the day. People appear to be excited.

It's time to reclaim what is ours.

Hail to the Redskins.

The Steelers lost at home to the Giants and to the Eagles. So, they want to make this a "home game" too? Fine. Let's take their money and welcome them to DC and send them home crying in their towels. They're going down tonight.

Posted by: NateinthePDX | November 3, 2008 5:25 PM

It would be good if they could be SCARY clowns, like that one from Stephen King's "It" or John Wayne Gacy at a birthday party. Steelers would want to be wearing dark pants ... to conceal the evidence of their fear!

Only thing scarier than a clown is a mime. Just once I wish one of those things would suffocate in those glass boxes they get into.

this day is dragging.

i'm ready for:

25+ points
no offensive turnovers
few penalties
great showing from fletch and the D.

ok.

It happened once before. Now they're all working with big holes in the glass. Haven't you noticed? Sometimes their hands slip through a little bit. Look for it on replay.

Posted by: dealer1 | November 3, 2008 5:45 PM | Report abuse

I'm not superstitous. I don't care what uni's they wear, as long as JC knows which guys are on his team. Game is won in the trenches. If we hit them harder than they hit us, if we avoid turnovers & dumb penalties, if we tackle as we have this season, and avoid mistakes on special teams, we should win this game. It doesn't matter what colors they wear.

Um, I don't know how to tell you this, but the suits are now talking about taking the blog down from 11-12 tonight.....

I got my Portis jersey stolen this weekend. I am so angry that all I see is red anyhow.

HAIL

So what if there's 10,000 Steeler fans. That still leaves 80,000 Skins peeps. No problem.

Steelers have good fans like we do. I don't begrudge them taking a road trip and with the economy, I'm sure some skins fans had to sell. No big deal. This is still our house.

Now, Cindy, you're not going to let The Man dictate blog hours, are you?

I got my tie-dye T-shirt on and I am willing to lay down in front of the WaPo server if that's what it takes to protect the blog.
