A Close One at the Half
Well, we've got ourselves a ballgame now and the Skins fought back and won that quarter, but man, Suisham has to make that field goal. That's three straight games in which he has had a miss that was within range. With the offense this starved for points, that can't happen.
The Skins are selling out to stop the run, which makes sense, but with a lack of a pass rush, Eli Manning has been able to carve the secondary. I don't think you can put it on the corners, entirely, for sure. Manning has 239 yards passing in the half.
On offense, the Skins might have to keep going for reverses and the like, because I'm not sure they can beat this defense straight up.
And, special teams have been very dissapointing, from the penalties, to failing to down punts deep to the missed field. That's the biggest difference in this game right now.

Posted by: az_david | November 30, 2008 3:06 PM | Report abuse
The same old sh!t strikes again. So now I'll have to go to work and have the NYG fans rub it in. How many times in the last 16 years has this team always managed to give up winnable games? Meanwhile Carolina is winning against GB.
So yes I am cynical somewhat. I just hate watching these games, only to see the team blow winnable games.
Stupid mistakes happen over and over again. The Missed FG, the messed up INT, the failure to catch the ball, stupid penalties--these always seem to happen at the wrong time to let the other team win.
What is there to be positive about? The season will probably end today. And don't get me started about the Pete Kendall fumble earlier this year.
Same old cr!p. Doesn't anyone here ever get sick of it?

Another 3rd and short that the Giants should convert. I think I need to accept the fact that this season's shot--and that the team still sucks.

Giants just want it more...period
No heart by this team - none

boom, boom, boom, crunch, run over the d line - again....

That last INT was costly. Score there and the game is close. Now the game is slipping away. The Skins peaked too early. A loss here will really make the playoffs a long-shot. It was nice while it lasted but the NFC East will finish NYG-DAL-WSH-PHL. We still need to address the issues that have always plagued this team - lack of pass rush, inability to score. Some of the other pieces are there. Disappointing.

it needs to be said that this is getting close to embarassing and starting to look a lot like marion barber bowling over some skins en route to victory.

Landry blitzs and gets handled by the Back.
unreal.

DAL does have to play NYG, PIT, and PHL still. So I would crown with the wildcard quite yet, but it looks quite gleam.

4th quarter...down by 13. If we get a punt...there's a very small shot. Otherwise, our prayer of a season comes down to a must win next week to lead up to some weaker opponents.
Posted by: svxcountry1 | November 30, 2008 3:20 PM | Report abuse
Looks like it's going to take another 4-0 run at the end of the season. :-/

Someone needs to check "GOOSE" ACCT after this game.

For those who say Zorn doesn't go down the field, at least he's doing it today. My problem is that they've not bothered to establish the timing and chemistry needed for this earlier in the season.

Have you seen the way our O-line plays, errr doesn't play? No time for any QB to make a long throw. O-line and D-line have to be the priorities. If Thrash is still the 3rd WR next year, can we have the Government buy out the Skins from Snyder? :)
Posted by: lsskinsfan | November 30, 2008 3:21 PM | Report abuse
what a flat effort..........
Posted by: chrislarry | November 30, 2008 3:21 PM | Report abuse
If the jints score again, watch our guys just roll over. WTF!! High school kids play with more emotion.
I was hopeful Zornmeister could overcome the disfunctional FO but the '08 run looks over. Why can't Snide-rrr wake up and get a professional GM who has NFL experience?
Friggity frig frig!
Posted by: ILikeSonny | November 30, 2008 3:21 PM | Report abuse
This is pathetic; basically, we can't move the ball without the use of gadget plays.
Zorn needs to take a long, hard look at himself after this loss.
5 losses this year, FOUR of them at home.
Wait. What am I talking about? We have no HOME.
FedEx is a vacuum.
Well, there's always NEXT YEAR!

just think how this is eating the danny up? I'd hate to be in his box right now. Little man is probably just cussing up a storm. At least i get a little enjoyment thinking about how this is eating at him. This guy couldn't buy a win to save his life.

Posted by: svxcountry1 | November 30, 2008 3:22 PM | Report abuse
We've moved from controlling our own destiny to hope for low chance scenarios. It's hard to watch but makes sense that this team will suffer from the previous problems because it was built that way by the previous coach and owner. It will take time to shift.
As for heart, I don't see quitters - just a team not as good as the Giants. The Skins can't afford to make mistakes and win against a better team. Missed opportunities will hurt.

Time of Possession after 3:
Giants 29:54
'Skins 15:06
Skins D already played a full game and we are just now going into the 4th.

Time to stop with the Sean Taylor references...let's look to the future and quit living in the past. Might as well start wishing for Riggo to come back or for a Beatles Reunion...give it up. Sean's dead man....
Posted by: 70Chip | November 30, 2008 3:24 PM | Report abuse
Giants are running all over us. They can push for the extra yard and first down, yet we can't. And I totally agree with Daggarforracialjustice... Landry has been run over today. Sean Taylor NEVER got run over like that.
Posted by: rachel216 | November 30, 2008 3:24 PM | Report abuse
How can you fault the d on this? They been on the field forever and getting no help from the o.
Posted by: dealer1 | November 30, 2008 3:24 PM | Report abuse
stop blaming a loss on the FO...the players had some plays, they didn't connect. We have the talent...they just have to put it together.

Sean Taylor quit in the Rams game a few years ago. He gave up on a run by Steven Jackson and let him waltz into the end zone. The replays showed he gave up when he could have made a tackle...

True, but there sure seemed to have been a lot of emphasis placed early on on short passes. I don't know... too tired to argue the point. Sheesh... what a game.

Open your eyes SVX, we don't have the talent or else we'd be winning these close games. The Skins are my team too, but man you got to be realistic.
Posted by: lsskinsfan | November 30, 2008 3:27 PM | Report abuse
I can't watch this offense anymore. This is beyond pathetic. How many times are you going to run routes short of the first down. Time to take a nap and enjoy the rest of my Sun.,this is not even worth my time anymore.
Posted by: ga8085 | November 30, 2008 3:28 PM | Report abuse
You can complain all you want, but the defense is NOT the problem. It's all on the offense. I think Zorn is going to get better...just not this year. We need an o-line that can protect the qb and give him a little time.
Posted by: cosomfla | November 30, 2008 3:28 PM | Report abuse
stop this, this is painful to watch. STINKIN OFFENSE, stretch out Cooley, gotta give the D a rest! It's over, that was the drive we had to score on, the giants will hold the ball for 10 minutes.
Posted by: rachel216 | November 30, 2008 3:29 PM | Report abuse
Zorn had no voice in the composition of this team - he inherited the handiwork of Gibbs and Snyder (Vinny just gets pasta for Snyder). Blame goes to Snyder and his crew of sycophants.

If the D can stop on more third downs, they won't be on the field so long.

Nice punt. Maybe Vinnie will use a first round pick for a new punter next year anyway.

IF we get the ball again we can always do a "Roman Gabriel/Rams" and throw 4 long bomb, Hail Mary's in a row. Maybe the owner fellow will learn to pray?
