Hall tops inactive list for Redskins

The Redskins list Richard Bartell, Justin Tryon, DeAngelo Hall, Clinton Portis, Edwin Williams, Alvin Bowen, Paul Fanaika and Renaldo Wynn as in active for today's game against the Saints.

That means that Edwin Williams goes from starting to inactive. Mike Williams will start in his place. Fred Smoot will start in Hall's place; the only healthy cornerbacks are Carlos Rogers, Byron Westbrook, Kevin Barnes and Smoot.

The Saints' inactives are John Carney, Lance Moore, Randall Gay, Tracy Porter, Jabari Greer, Marvin Mitchell, Scott Fujita and Jamar Nesbit. Mike McKenzie and Malcolm Jenkins will start at cornerback; Troy Evans at WLB.

So who is the #3 Conerback? Westbrook or Barnes?

Oh Great Wise Guys -

Who again are Richard Bartell, Alvin Bowen and Paul Fanaika?

Posted by: charley42 | December 6, 2009 11:42 AM | Report abuse

After the good job E Williams has done, way to reward him by making him in-active. Let's make sure that the young guys are not developed properly.

This is one lost coaching staff.

It is obvious to this hamster that Zorn still has way too much responsibilities.

Posted by: Curzon417 | December 6, 2009 11:49 AM | Report abuse

Reserve QB, LB, and OL. So many injuries, somebody has to fill the roster spots....

Posted by: Wemiss21 | December 6, 2009 11:50 AM | Report abuse

I hope these young guys step up in the secondary today, hopefully with big Al in the middle today it will help our pass D if the rush can disrupt Brees. I'm being optimistic, hope the Skins can come up with the upset! FIGHT FOR OLE DC!!!

Anything's possible in the NFL, both undefeated teams could lose today, Colts vs Titans ought to be very interesting w/Young playing winning football.

Posted by: 72Redskins | December 6, 2009 11:51 AM | Report abuse

This team has got to be the worst team in the NFL as far as putting the best players on the field to get the job done, and useage of and development of young players.

The fact that ARE is still returning punts, is all the explanation you need as to why this team is 3-8. Total idiocy.

With Edwin Williams inactive, what happens if Big Mike sucks at RG or gets hurt, or if something happens to Rabach?

If nothing else Edwin strikes me as that utility guy you turn to when something bad happens to any of the interior linemen. Who else do we have, Montgomery? Is Edwin Williams is behind Montgomery on the depth chart?

NFL cutting $100M in revenue sharing

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was fined at least $100,000 in September for violating a gag order by suggesting that revenue sharing was on its way out.

Turns out, he was only tipping the owners' hand.

In a significant move that could impact the flow of money to potential free agents and the competitive balance of teams, the NFL has notified the players' union that, effective next March, owners will pull the plug on the $100-million-per-year revenue-sharing program that has subsidized lower-revenue clubs, multiple sources said.

By Tuesday, the NFL Players Association will challenge the move with a Special Master, claiming owners can't terminate the revenue-sharing model without the union's approval because it was adopted into the 2006 labor agreement, which doesn't expire until March 2011.

Management counters that the supplemental model pertained only to salary-capped seasons; 2010 is scheduled to be uncapped.

Approximately eight to 12 lower-revenue teams have qualified on a yearly basis to draw from the supplemental pool. The $100 million fund is part of $6.5 billion in revenues shared by all clubs.

"We are simply going forward on the terms the union approved in March of 2006," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said.

According to NFLPA spokesman George Atallah, "Revenue sharing helps maintain the 'any-given Sunday' dynamic in the NFL.

"The amount of money some owners propose to pull out of the system in 2011 could mean the difference between playoffs and blackouts for many teams," he said.

Chris Mortensen is a senior NFL analyst for ESPN.

I understand wanting to see what you have in Mike Williams, but to have E Williams in-active? Just don't understand that move.

They must be using the straw system to see who is in-active.

F zorn!

I'm as equally shocked to Edwin inactive. Makes no freaking sense.

So @ practice this week did Edwin take 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team snaps? Only this mess of a team has players go from starters one week to healthy inactives the next.

well, it's clear our D has come to play today, but Blache needs to grow a pair and start blitzing from different angles. we can have all the coverage we want, but if we dont get to Brees QUICKLY he will pick apart our secondary.

Brees looks way too comfortable, and NEVER looks to his weak side in fear of pressure. we need to knock him down a few times to let him know this ain't gonna be another Miami situation.

Okay, everyone keep in mind that Cindy is reading the posts carefully. The six best will be in the print edition tomorrow and the writers will get a check for $100.

At least, that's how I understand it. I've never gotten a check because my posts have never made the print edition. I know because I'm the only one up here who actually subscribes to the print edition.

If none of my posts are in there tomorrow, then no one up here will be a subscriber.

How come no one talks about the blown call by the replay booth? It was clearly not a fumble, Sellers hand hit the ground before the ball came out. Why is the media so afraid to question the officiating? I havent given the NFL a single penny since they gave the Superbowl was "awarded" to Pittsburgh vs Seattle
