Hate To Beat A Dead Horse

I know I've harped on this before, and surely will again. But what the #$%^ was Belichick thinking in that game? He completely gave up on what should have been a strong running game for no good reason. It was working (Dillon wa slike 4 for 48 in the first half), he had the lead in the second half and several drvies where he needed to move the chains, but got pass-happy.

I understand putting it in Brady's hands, but this was out of control play calling. Dillon and the rookie broke off some chunks int he first quarter and the Colts off the hook again. Instead of being worn out in the second half by a physical opponent, they faced a coach intent on dinking and dunking his way to the Super Bowl.

It just didn't work. Dungy takes away the deep stuff like no other, but to play into that by abandoning the run does not make much sense to me; not when you have a quality O line and two good backs to carry the rock for you.

Someone needs to explain this one to me. I still can't figure it out.

Anyway, the Colts are early 7 point favorites, which seems a 'lil high to me. I do think they'll win this game unless the Bears D playing like it did in the first 6 weeks of the season. Sexy Rexy winning a Super Bowl? I don't think so. He makes Dilfer look like Unitas.

J-La, you're heading to South Florida for the Big Game, right? Who else from WashPo will be heading down?

Anybody else from the blog going to the game? Diddy?

JLa,

They have a "big announcement" on the John Riggins show today.

Any chance it's hiring Scott Peoli or Russ Grimm and not "We've added 75 new seats to Fedex Field. Seats will be dangling periously off the top bleachers and not intended for fans who weigh above 100 lbs or that make sudden movements" ?

Posted by: Skinz | January 22, 2007 1:54 PM | Report abuse

Agreed, all week they were like "we wont do what the Ravens did and abandon the run" and then they abandoned the run...Dillon looked unstoppable.....

Oh well...fine by me...I was so bored of the Patriots I could puke clam chowder! No I dont have to watch the Una Bomber on the sidelines!!!

ALL BOZO SKINI FANS ARE JUST MAD BECAUSE DALLAS HAS BEEN IN THE PLAYOFFS MORE OFTEN, RECENTLY, THAN OL SKINI TEAM WITH OLD MAN GIBBY AND OLD MAN WILLIAMS AND OLD MAN SAUNDERS. MONEY-BAGS DANNY BOY CAN'T BUY HIS WAY OUT OF A PAPER BAG, LET ALONE BUY A SUPER BOWL. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. THE REAL REASON PARCELLS QUIT WAS BECAUSE HE COULDN'T PUT UP WITH THE HORRIBLE STENCH EMITTED BY SKIN FANS AT FEDEX. TAKE A BATH OR SOMETHING WHINY, STINKY SKINI FANS.

Hate to pat myself ont he back here; okay, actually I voe to pat myself on the back.
JLC = Miss Cleo (please re=read my post about Samuel being a hero today)
BBM = playoff fraud. If Billick had some stoens and stuck with the run lat week BBM would already be filming his next lame commercial right now. he really just isn't cut out for January football.

Colts are going to give up 200 rushing yards today, same as it ever was. all that hype about heir defense was a joke. they played a poor KC team and a Baltimore club hamstrung by its coach.

Hey all, I'm a little slammed at work so I haven't been able to catch up from yesterday evening yet, but I've scanned over just a bit.

I'm not ashamed to say that everything I've ever needed to know I learned from GI Joe. "Now I know. And knowing is half the battle."

Did you know that Lady Jaye was born on Martha's Vineyard? Now, unlike me, she's a real "MV Dame."

Wait...wait...everyone listen...can you hear that? That's the sound of Parcells quitting right in boofer's mouthpiece. That's what you get when you have a mercenary pig as your coach. Hope the sound bites and the ego were worth it for 4 years of no playoff wins you gigantic bama.

Skinz, how was the Burr show on Saturday? Two of my buddies opened the show. Reactions?

I'm actually relieved the colts won the game. I don't know if I could take another year of patriot front office/Belichik ballcuzzis from football writers and pundits.

They went the same way as the Ravens did: out. It's because you have to pay players. The pats should be brought up on criminal charges. They have millions in available salary cap and they were short players. The ownership should be villains. Where is all that 'organizational' philosophy talk now? Both for the Ravens and Pats. Both teams were good because they were well coached, had a couple playmakers on D, and great QB play. There is no mystery to this and they shouldn't be revered.

Sorry, I couldn't think for a sec, parcells just quit in my ear. He keeps going on and on about how it's cool to quit let people down like he has at every stop on his 'no soul tour'.

I defy anyone to come up with a worse song than the one my cubicle neighbor is playing right now. Arms of Orion, the Prince/Sheena Easton duet.

Rumor is Parcells wanted a contract extension. Jerry refused, and Parcells walked. So hopefully Jerry has somebody in mind.

This is funny -- the Hall of Fame website has Dungy listed as the winning coach and Lovie as the losing coach for the Super Bowl to be played in two weeks. No footnote, no nothin'. A bit premature, no?

AM,

Liked the MC, liked the guy who had Cerebral Palsy.

Burr was dissapointing. There was a guy near the stage who kept talking and he kept trying to shut him up by making fun of him. It kinda threw off his rythm maybe. I also like him in small doses, too much of his voice starts to grate on you.

Re: Manning being a fraud. I don't get that. I understand that when you are the best at what you do you'll gain many detractors but there is nothing about doing commercials that makes you a fraud.

I don't care who likes or dislikes Manning but give me a break. That guy hung 32 points on the best team of the Century after being way down and you don't want to give him credit?

I guarantee had he done everything the same and Brady engineered game-winning drive every one of you haters would be lambasting the guy for not being able to win the big one and down on your knees bowing down to Brady. So just say you hate him that's fine but don't act like Belicheck lost the game and Manning didn't do anything. It just comes off as petty.

Much respect for working Uncle Rico into the mix!
It's gotta kill Dallas fans to know that the ONLY NFC team to have gone longer than the gloryboys without a playoff win is DETROIT!!
Dallas sold their soul for a superbowl this year and still failed:
They hired a famous GIANTS coach to run the Joe Gibbs REDSKINS offense with their best player an EAGLES WR that desecrated the dallas star and punked down Emmit Smith all in the same game.

To top it off, New Orleans is now America's Team.

Tough year.

I'm on the blog for three reasons:

1. I enjoy it, I enjoy the off-topic conversations the most, and I enjoy the oppotunity to talk to peeps in my hometown who root for my boyhood team.

2. I am somewhat retired from work and have to find something to occupy my time. I'm about to start my own company, but want to take 6 months off to decompress first. Again, lots of free time.

3. I travel a lot and unless you're in NYC or Sydney, you get a lot of downtime on the road. I read a lot (just finished the Goodwin bio of Lincoln, as recommended by someone here). And I blog a lot.

Any other questions?

SMACK, I can see why you would say that... but I was in the single digits in the 80's rooting for my dad's Vikings. Probably the worst part about being a skins fan in that time was seeing the Cowboys so utterly useless as a football team and still managed to beat us twice a year. You don't understand Dorsett in the HOF? Dude has a lot of yards, but he has the longest run in NFL history, an unbreakable 99.5 yards. That's the kind of thing that gets you in. Good thing Darrell Green wasn't on the field that day.

That is why Tony Dorsett's record run against Minnesota in 1983 is listed as 99 yard's, end zone to end zone. From NFL.COM

Longest Run From Scrimmage
99 Tony Dorsett, Dallas vs. Minnesota, Jan. 3, 1983 (TD)

Dorsett's record can only be tied, never broken. There are no yard markers inside the end zone. The yardage starts when a player crosses the goal line.

PS...Good thing Darrell Green wasn't in Minnesota that night!

Missed the TK announcement... all I see on the Triple X radio website is something about PTI being replayed (audio only, I assume) each night and morning. TK is going to have his own show again? Anybody found a news link on this with any details?

TK without Andy Polley would be really weird.

On a related note, I can't believe the media isn't hyping up this superbowl fun fact:

From the article

At Best Friend Espresso in Kenmore, baristas go thigh-high. An elevated service window offers customers a nearly full-length view of pretty, young baristas -- some of them high-school students -- in short skirts, tank tops and high heels.

Best Friend owner Wayne Hembree said he requires employees to dress "classy;" in dresses, skirts and a nice top.

"What I think most of them have found is that their tips are better if they wear short skirts," he said.

Diddy, as a 30something, the high school angle puts me at creeped out/repulsed.

Why in the world is Parcells considered one of the current "great" coaches?

He hasn't won a Super Bowl in his last 11 seasons. And never without Bill Belicheck as his Def Coord. His last three jobs have been mediocre at best: Pats, Jets and Cowgirls were all mediocre teams under Parcells. Only SB appearance was the 96 Pats in a horrible AFC that year. His last two playoff appearances were one-and-done.

Is he really all that special?

Jason, calling Peyton Manning a "fraud," which you did several times on Sunday, would have been ill-informed and thoughtless even if the Colts had lost. As it stands, they won, due in no small part to Manning's play.

If blogs are a way for middling beat reporters such as yourself to engage in juvenile name-calling and get away with it, then take me back to the pre-cyber age.

Here's some advice: don't put anything in the blog that you wouldn't put your name to in print. And if you're going to try to tell me that you would call Peyton Manning a fraud in the Sports section of the Washington Post, try again.

4th Floor did not post that.......

Posted by: 4th | January 22, 2007 5:13 PM | Report abuse

Whee! Yesterday was a bit of a doozy, isn't it?

As to Gut-chek's playcalling yesterday, yes, it was rather lame & illogical. I'm convinced the reason why he did so lies in the same line of why Schotty decided to pass the pigskin instead of running it during last week's game - the coach tried too hard to trickerate his way into the win, but ended up being hoisted by his own petard.

Perhaps both Schotty and Gut-chek thought that it would only be too obvious to just run the clock out. Sure, your halfback is dragging the opposing defense through the wringer - dead as Orville Redenbacher (speaking of disturbing commercials... I was watching the computer animation, and something in my head was screaming, 'Johnny 5 - Alive!' But that's another topic....) you'd expect the team to keep running. So, instead of handing off until you've ground the clock down, the coaches go, "I know, this will get 'em confused, let's pass our way into the next round! We're bound to get some points for the win that way!". And so they tried it. And, well...

Other Football Comments: Rex-N-Efx just frightens me. The way the guy swings so manically from craptacle to miracle is just befuddling. Maybe he's just not used to winning, after all of the fallow years?

And I'm thankful the Colts finally managed to put one over the Pats. I was getting tired of the constant talk about BBM choking, as well as the NE 'dynasty'. Besides, the Saints had already lost - I was halfway to not caring about the Superbowl yet again! I'm not necessarily happy for BBM, I'm just happy that I don't have to make advertisments the only reason to watch on February 4th. (Anything to avoid giving my girlfriend a reason to change to 4 hours of the Puppy Bowl....)

JMU: JMU was fun, the one weekend I visited it, so long ago. It was rather a blur, as I was a cider drink short of a full Chumbawumba, but I did have much enjoyment with some of the nubile young lovelies.

Hiding things: I think the best container I saw to smuggle things in was the one fellow at Penn State who made himself a fake leg cast with a bladder to hold the liquid of choice that day. Got him into the stadium quicker, AND held a heck of a lot of beverage.

Follow up on Howard Bryant's article -

"Rob Pegoraro: I wish I could have talked to the writer about that--it sounds like his DVD player and his HDTV aren't talking properly. The DVD player should be able to send a widescreen picture that fits the HDTV's wide screen... but some HDTVs don't sense inputs properly. The story mentioned that this was a Philips set, and I know that the Philips plasma I tried out last year had an annoying habit of switching screen aspect ratios automatically, and sometimes incorrectly. The fix probably involves changing the TV's settings."

Howard's article is interesting. The choices all suck, they're all "almost there".

Cable companies are the bane of my existence, and DirecTV isn't much better. I'm a 12 years DirecTV subscriber to the top-tier package and all the sports add-ons. I'm what they call an "A-1" customer, so when my satellite dish blew off my roof in Seattle's "Storm of the Century" (Part 2), I was able to get my dish replaced within a week. Even then, I was treated like steak sauce.

TiVo ToGo is a great idea with shoddy execution. TiVo Series 3 is out now, but I'm not a cable customer so haven't tried it yet.

I have the DirecTV HR-20 DVR. The HR-20 has been prone to MANY annoying bugs, but they seem to have most of them worked out. Sadly, despite having an Ethernet port on the back, the HR-20 has NO Slingbox-like capabilities, so I had to get a Slingbox. Despite having a USB cable, it has no TiVo ToGo capabilities, and I wish I could take my programs with me on the plane. Lots of "I wish it had..." moments with this stuff.

My advice on all of this is if you're an early adopter and love to tinker with this, take the plunge now. Otherwise, wait a couple of years for it all to come together. It really is all very, very close. We need a few acquisitions of the smaller, more innovative players, and we need a stronger focus on the end-user scenario. I think by next CES, you should see some traction on that front.

BTW, one of my favorite online blogs and forums for this is www.dbstalk.com.

CMoney,

Bill Parcells is a media fav because he is so quoteable and a product of the new york area (read media) winning two bowls in New York established him as alltimer but his record overall and no championships post LT and belicheck has dimished (Somewhat) his status. his personality, press conferences and being from jersey still make him bigger than he should be.

Interseting side note. When he left NE and belicheck first won the bowl up here a few years latter it was Belicheck who could not get out from under parcells considerable (at the time ) shawdow the boston media still talked as if it was parcells team. As time has moved along and Belicheck has won 3 with out Parcells and parcells has won o without belicheck it is apparent who the real genius was and now on occasion you here that up here. I think that bothers Parcells that he is diminished and he couldn't win it again in any of his next stops withot belicheck. Thats why I think he may want to become a GM and have the power to '"shop for groceries" and a big part of that if it happens is parcells ego and selfish interest in restablishing himself as a football icon.

just one man's opinion

Well guys, I went down to my local t-shirt shop to price out a few t-shirts. She does have a website (that you can't order from but she does have an 800 number.)

Unfortunately, there's a minimum order of 50 t-shirts (which I would have to personally order/pay for) along with the silk screening set-up, etc. It would have come up about 500 bucks that I would have to put out, with no idea how many of these things I would have been stuck with. I live in a small tourist town and since it is the low season, the lady is leaving for three weeks. So I've decided that I won't risk it. (I'm working at Wal-Mart wages here - not that I would ever work at Wal-Mart!) Oh well.

Anyway, it would have been a burgundy t-shirt with gold lettering. The front would have been -

Old School, I'm pretty sure the only things that bother Parcells are that his two Super Bowl rings are too heavy and gaudy to wear everyday, and that he had to give his ex-wife half his stuff.

Other than that, let's not get into this silly game of who is the bigger genius. Parcells was a great coach, and let's not forget it. Belicheck IS a great coach, and that team will be back.

Don't mean to be the school teacher here except that I do. . . . high school girls dressing up like street walkers is not okay and to sell coffee and get higher tips is not okay. . .

I can't tell you the number of converstaions I've had with my female students trying to explain to them why their choice of dress is inappropriate for a school environment and isn't going to do much for them beyond it either.

The mainstreaming of the porn star fashion is not a good thing. It isn't empowering and unfortunately it gives too many young girls even greater body image issues. It's just another side of the coin that includes 11 year old girls who think that giving a boy a BJ is fine and not sex. The boys aren't doing any reciprocating mind you besides the fact that it is basically sexual abuse.

I know I sound like the wet blanket and I'm standing on my soap box but it is truly horrifying to see what some of my students are wearing and the complete emotional wrecks they are because they don't understand why the boys treat them like objects. .. . ugh.

That's the end of my finger wagging.

Posted by: P Diddy | January 22, 2007 8:45 PM | Report abuse

Nothing called the Redskins anything should be questioning anything that happens in the playoffs...especially not this early after the season ended so pathetically for the skin's.
The only thing any Redskins' anything should be doing is asking what was Gibbs thinking and why did such a talented team play so horrible.
No one or thing associated with the Redskins has any business questioning anything outside the beltway about football

Take a walk down memory lane with me... I was about 12, living in San Diego and my father (who we call the Captain) signed my bro and I up for the inter-military base flag football league. We were on the Miramar Packers and probably one of the better teams in the league... but the best team, ironically, was the Point Loma Cowboys... we hated those guys. They were bigger, stronger, faster than anyone else... and that would have been fine, but they had the swagger too. That probably fed into my hatred for the cowboys and bred me to be a Redskins fan when the Captain got orders to the Pentagon.

Monday night TV = TV for rest of the week except I'm lying cause I TiVo like a millin other things.

Okay here is a link to what I can only describe as the nerd who has too much time on his hands greatest achievement that the rest of us must be in awe of . . . if you are a big LOTR fan/geek like me it helps to truly appreciate this:

Norv Turner has HC of Paddies - how many HC shots does a guy get before they realize he ain't quite it. Skins, Raiders, who else?

Heroes: awesome.
24: awesome.
Studio 60: cued up.

I. Love. Monday. TeeVee. Perfect for sitting on the couch, with my dog next to me, remote control in hand, vegging out.

24 was significantly less ridiculous tonight. Though the revelation about BluetoothGuy was a bit of a surprise to me. Did they reveal that last season, or was that new? James Cromwell sighting! Chloe had nothing stupid to say today. Love Dr. Bashir as a Not-So-Evil-Terr'ist-Mastermind. Abu Fayed reminds me of a dude who used to beat the crap out of me in hockey. The Secret Service Agent needs to put a big piece of Duck Tape on the President's Sister (BTW, Sis is exactly like my sister). Love the debate between Ally McBeal and BrideOfBill; those who think this show is conservative propoganda are insane. That debate is one we as a country should be having in public. Thought PresidentObama (LBP) seemed like he was going to cry during his address. Bah.

Heroes continues to get better. Nice to see Dr. Who on board. I'm not supposed to lust after the cheerleader, so I won't, even though if I were able to, I would not feel so guilty about it. Happy her little gay friend is back, though.

BTW, for those watch it, Battlestar Galactica is still, hands down, the best written show on television.

Okay, I need to feel smart about myself. What book should I read next?

Chris Mortensen of ESPN:

• Even in defeat, it was very difficult not to admire the Patriots on Sunday and my thoughts could not have been more definitive -- Bill Belichick ranks with Vince Lombardi, Don Shula, Tom Landry and Joe Gibbs as the greatest coaches who ever walked an NFL sideline.

Belicheck is getting lots of heat up here for his deploreable post game conduct. he comes across as a poor sport and a sore loser. Same mo he had in Cleveland (when he was a loser) and his first year in NE (when he was a loser). His act plays ok when he wins, but even for the Pats as good as they are it's fine line from being on top to slipping to the next level of close but no cigar.

Posted by: Old School | January 23, 2007 9:33 AM | Report abuse

Jason, understand your issues w/ Belichik play calling.

I have issues w/ his post-game behavior. Quick brush-by of Manning and that sour pus during interviews afterwards.

Yeah, I know he just lost a big game, but how about showing some sportsmanship and giving Dungy and Peyton their due? That's 3 in a row now that the Colts have come out ahead.

Don't expect me to feel sorry for Belichick (#$#$#@ homewrecker) :

Grimm as HC of Dallas - The Dallas fans wouldn't accept it. Like Aikmen becoming HC of Skins

Turner - Makes sense. Makes sense he should have never became a Redskins' HC in the 1st Place.

24 (Skip Dorf) - Why they have to kill Curtis?!?!?!?! (Reliving memories from the summary at the begining of the show) 24 is starting to get lame. They are running out of twist and turns. Everybody is connected. How is JAck's Bro the evil doer. What happened in the past? Jack wasn't aware his bro was a terriost, was he? How many broads JAck been with? and, Jack's bro son looks like Jack, did anyone else think that?

What about the Anacostia Detention Center? That was cool and uncool. They must be on Bolling AFB. Why did JAck have ti=o kill Curtis? This show is getting weak. Or is it because I can't watch all 24 episodes back to back times 12?

Posted by: Redcoat | January 23, 2007 10:35 AM | Report abuse

Manning is the guy most of us love to hate. I odn't know who created that, maybe from all the glory they were giving him of how he was gonna be the nesxt Montana/Elway/MArino, yada yada.

Then, you get this 7th round draft pick who wins the SB outta nowhere. Then 2 more. Alegend is made, while you have this former 1st round pick of the draft having won nothing. Makes you think why take a QB early in the 1st the 1st place....

Posted by: 4th | January 23, 2007 10:40 AM | Report abuse

There is still a ton of pressure for Manning to win it all. Getting there is the first big step, winning it shuts up every critic for ever.

On the subject of QB's who never won the big one, a company I worked for bought Fran Tarkenton's company, so he was at our company conference. The man is a Grade-A a**hole! I was there when someone walked up to him at a party and gave a speech about how much joy they had gotten from watching him play and asked if they could shake his hand. His reply? "F*ck off".

Posted by: Redcoat | January 23, 2007 10:53 AM | Report abuse

Unfortunetley he is the poster boy for stats and no ring. Just shows you how it takes a complete team to win a championship in the NFL. If you have flaws you can still win lots regular season games, but in the post season the most compelete team almost all the time becomes champion.

Brings me full circle back to Gibbs. You can see how the other Alltime Great coaches each had a franchise QB linked directly to their success, absent the QB they all failed to win a superbowl.

Another QB list

Lombardi/Star
Landry/Staubach
Noll/Bradshaw
Parcells/Simms
Walsh/Montanna/young (seifert in here too)
Johson/Aikman
Belicheck/Brady

Gibbs wins three without the Marquee QB, This along with his teamfirst self-deprcating attitude has kept him out of the front of the line discussion, his name is not left out entirely, but usually he is mentioned as almost "oh yeah don't forget about Joe Gibbs"

He deserves to better, automatic entry in any discussion about who the greatest coaches are in NFL history. This is probbally why I hate the Pats so much another Belicheck win and I am afraid Gibbs is out of the duiscuusion all together, its then belicheck/lombardi and the rest.

charlie, I set up a store at cafepress for this but haven't yet had time to create some shirts. I was going this route because it avoids any messy pre-ordering, money collection by you, etc. Cafepress as a store takes care of it all.

And you can put pretty much anything you want on the shirts, and have a few different designs, which I think trumps getting burgundy and gold colors on the shirt fabric itself (just my opinion).

Let's chat via the e-mail if you want to take this off the blog. Write me: nateinthepdx at gmail dot com.

Diddy, that up-down thing by the Cowboys O-line before the snap count always made me so mad. They were the only team that did it. I think it had something to do with confusing the D-line.

"Hey, we're not just sending our receivers in motion, and moving our tight end from one side to the other, we're going to have our entire line stand up and then get back into their stances! That'll really throw 'em for a loop!"

I got the impression it was a tactic Landry learned back in the '20s when he played for the Duluth Eskimos. He probably noticed that ONE time it caused a particularly stupid D-lineman to jump offsides, so for the rest of his illustrious, 72-year coaching career he insisted that his lineman do it before every snap.

Yeah, Jack's brother (aka Bluetooth Guy) was the Evil Terr'ist Mastermind last season. I thought that was an interesting, if not cliched, twist.

Could you guys imagine if Russ Grimm became the HC of the Cowboys. That would be sweet revenge for us taking Norvell Turner from the Cowpukes back in, what was it , 94-95. And doesnt it always seem like players who thrive in other places suck here, and that players who suck here then go on to thrive in other places. I mean oh my god. Let's see, Rich Gannon, Frank Wychek, Larry Centers, Dana Stubblefield, Big Daddy Wilkerson, Deon Sanders, James Thrash, Bruce Smith, Jeremiah Trotter, Jesse Armstead. And now more recently, you got Walt Harris plus the whole 2006 free agent class and you could throw Michael Barrow into that as well. I mean, this is ridiculous. This town must be haunted or cursed or just impossible for one time good players to come here and be successful. BTW, we should have never let Trent Green leave town because he would have been a bonafied franchise quarterback. I realy don't think that, save for Steve Spurrier, coaching has been the big problem here in Washington. We have had some very good ones, like Norv (not given enough credit) and Marty (he should still be here as our coach). And if only Joe Gibbs would get back to coaching, we wouldn't have to worry these days. The problem here has clearly been the personell directors amd decisions. We either bring the wrong players in or we let the wrong players go. I am so sick of people blaming the coaches all the time, because I think we have some pretty good ones here in town. They may be very stubborn at times, but what coaches aren't, you know? We have it lucky, Skins fans. We could have a coaching staff like Arizona used to or Green Bay or San F, but we don't. the blame here is on the players and on the people making personell decisions. That means Gibbs, go back to coaching, hire a real GM, and only worry about signing checks Mr. Snyder. Macaca, out!

Sorry JM220 - I meant to say 217, which i saw while browsing through yesterday, so I assume you lost some weight. I was bloging my guts out too fast...

LH - Never watched ER, and I was starting to belive he was the guy from HAppy Days (witch was in syndication in the 80s, which I vagely remember). Also, I am young compared to most of you, but I was an avid reader of SBs and redskins history during my Junior/Senior High School years to relive all the glory that I JUST missed due to my youth (sae for the '89 and '92 SB witch I def remember. '88-89 for Doug and 91-92 for the 14-2 run). I was playing Youth/High School Football at the time and wanted to digest everything football from redskins to NFL history. That's why the Norv years are some of my most memorable (sadly, ofcourse).

24 - This is the 1st time I haven't liked Regina King in a role. I sure hope she dosen't mess up that sting operation. If I was that SS agent, I would be tempted to knock her the --ck out. She shouldn't even be at the Anacostia Detention Center (or whateva they called it) They should have made her Boyfriend the Pres. LBP looks disastiorous. He was aboutto cry at the end. The nerd guy from last year is just putting up a front so he can stab LBP in the back about 6-8 hours from now..........

Ummm, Macaca (can I call you that and still be 'electable'?), when you say 'We have had some very good ones, like Norv (not given enough credit)...' is that because he wasn't given emough time? We had the manchurian coach in our midst for seven years. He was awful. Did not get it done on any level. I'm not a big 'fire the coach' type, but the boot was not fast enough kicking his a$$ out the door.

He's Dr. Romano from ER, or if you flash back to the late 80's, he's the bad guy on Clarence Boddicker's (Kurtwood "Red Forman" Smith) crew who is turned into toxic waste at the end of Robocop. The actor's name is Paul McCrane, and he plays baddies especially well.
