Haynesworth and the 'T' Word
An oddly timed Yahoo! Sports report today reiterated much of what we recently have reported about the NFL's ongoing investigation into tampering charges regarding the Redskins' signing of Pro Bowl defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.
The league, for several weeks, has been looking into allegations by the Tennessee Titans that Washington violated rules in contacting Haynesworth's representative, Chad Speck, before free agency began Feb. 27. Yahoo! Sports, per its sources, reported that at least two people have been interviewed in connection with the investigation.
If the league finds that Washington violated tampering rules in obtaining Haynesworth, who formerly played for the Titans, the team could lose draft picks. Attempts to contact Speck were unsuccessful. The NFL does not comment on investigations.

And exactly what is the news here? That Yahoo! Sports is reporting what we already know?

Jason, any updates on Mike Williams weight?
I hope the Skins have hired Jenny Craig and threatened to hire Richard Simmons to keep an eye on him...

Like the Redskins care about draft picks.
Oh no! We can't trade for TJ Duckett or Jason Taylor or Brandon Lloyd this year!

Draft picks are a nuisance to the Skins FO anyway. Now the FO has a legit excuse to go completely insane with overpriced free agent signings. In fact, team sources ("get your cold Bud Light here!") indicate that discussions focused on a plan to cut Kelly, making room for AH. We would then bring Kelly back in free agency (which is so much more fun) with a $10m signing bonus deferred over 20 years for cap purposes. Why not tamper every year?

When will we dump Cerrato? Seriously. The guy can't even sign a free agent without losing draft picks. Guess we won't be drafting any young, talented offensive linemen next year, either. I know the investigation has yet to be completed, but that there is even one to begin reveals Cerrato's sloppy, no-account cockiness and gross incompetence. Cerrato is the Jar Jar Binks of the Skins', severing my attachment to something I've loved since the '70s. He's Grease II, Blues Brothers 2000, Staying Alive & Caddyshack II, etc. When are we going to get someone with a shred of ccompetence and accountability?
