Weather report: it's drizzling and the forecast calls for that to continue until midnight or so. Temps are in the high 30s. Very little wind.

With Stanback out, everyone might as well breathe easy. 'Skins in a cakewalk. :-)

Sportsnet just said the Jason Campbell is on the ACTIVE roster. Jason was supposed to do an interview with them but could not because he has been made active.
Posted by: Lisa_R | December 30, 2007 3:31 PM | Report abuse
hmmm. . .
just pondering the last post. . .
could mean they don't trust brunell/hollenbeck. . .
or maybe they're thinking they can get soups some snaps if the game is out of hand? not sure tha makes sense given what I've heard about the weather . . .

Sportsnet just said the Jason Campbell is on the ACTIVE roster. Jason was supposed to do an interview with them but could not because he has been made active.
Wow and hmmm?
I wonder if that has to do with any rules re post-season rosters? I.e., if he's inactive "X" games he can't be on the post-season roster?
Just a complete wild guess. Doesn't make any sense otherwise.
Posted by: SteveMG | December 30, 2007 3:42 PM | Report abuse
That report is incorrect. Campbell is inactive.
Posted by: TheCindy | December 30, 2007 3:50 PM | Report abuse
FYI - Terry Glenn is working running routes on the field with Romo so I guess he will be playing....rain or no rain.
Posted by: Lisa_R | December 30, 2007 3:51 PM | Report abuse
he must be healthy, not sure I'd have him out there with a slick track if there were any concerns . . .

It was suppose to pretty much a positive guest blog. My point was basicaly we must move forward beyond tragedies in our lives. That's actually want makes us as a peopele stronger.
In my life, Skins are my biggest diversion. So, I really don't want my diversion to end. I'm sure many on the redskins feel the same way going through their tragedy.
Like I told people at church, everyone's thoughts and prayers have actually helped me stay strong for my family. It has worked and I am doing my best to keep everyone happy....

The skins should have a signal that a player (normally a WR) can signal when they make something that's called a big catch but they know it isnt, to tell the skins to hurry up.
the skins could then use this fake hurry up to try and get the opponents to throw the challenge flag badly. :)

Posted by: spotter | December 30, 2007 5:03 PM | Report abuse
re samsung commercial: do the jets have a WR that could even pull that off? :)
Posted by: spotter | December 30, 2007 5:04 PM | Report abuse
15 yards for intentional grounding; looked to me like he was about seven yards behind the line. so he should have taken the sack except it doesn't matter because they kicked the fg.
Posted by: TheCindy | December 30, 2007 5:05 PM | Report abuse
Man they have to keep this up. Shut them down and score again.
Posted by: jm220 | December 30, 2007 5:05 PM | Report abuse

Posted by: alex35332 | December 30, 2007 5:05 PM | Report abuse
spotter,
i think the play would have had the same result. it was 3rd down. sack would have been at the 28. turned out the penalty put the ball at the 28 also.
oh well, it's a moot point now that sweeeezam made the kick.

FedEx is so big that you'll always have opponents fans there in large numbers. It's the way it is. Also, DC is a fairly transient and affluent town, so getting tickets isn't that hard. Plus, I think there's a large contingent of "contrarian" types who grew up Cowboys fans in DC just because it tweaks their 'Skins fans friends...

no first down, but that was a great catch on cooley's part.
And thrash is so great.

PDiddy, much like I'm a contrarian in NY these days (well Mets are favored over the Yankees, but boo to both), as not much to root for the Os these days (perhaps should care for the Nats, but moved to NY 10 years ago....)

daggone reviews. . .
spotter, no need to explain, when you left DC there was no baseball team and the O's were the only reason for it. . .
no real reason to root for them when even the hometown folks root for the sox . . .
I've adopted the rockies and it sure is nice to not have to be a contrarian for every sport (still can't leggo the wiz and caps). . .

Posted by: spotter | December 30, 2007 5:54 PM | Report abuse
ga, I'm not sure. A Hail Mary play from the 35 is makeable. Plus, we ALL know the history of the Cowboys/'Skins rivalry and Hail Mary plays. I think Wade gets kudos for actually knowing the rule. The refs had to huddle and figure that one out.

didn't we benefit from a similar circumstance at the end of the vikings game? we just kept the ball and ran out the clock, but I remember being a bit confused as to why we got the penalty yards w/o a re-kick . . .

Seahawks are a weak team in a weak division. Their stars are shells of their former selves. That said, big players come up big in the playoffs, and the Seahawks have a squad that has been there and done it.
EVERYONE in the NFC is beatable. Every single team. This tournament is WIDE OPEN. Win and you have a legitimate shot. And as Jasno wrote, this 'Skins squad is a dangerous opponent for anyone in the NFC.
AFC is another story. Whoever wins the AFC (and by "whoever" I mean Indianapolis or New England) will win the Super Bowl.

after today, we will have played 6 games against the 5 other NFC playoff teams. the only team we would not have played against will be the Seahawks, who we have the privilege of visiting next weekend.
@ Dallas L 28-23
vs Dallas W 27-?
@ GB L 17-14
@ TB L 13-19
vs NYG L 24-17
@ NYG W 22-10
collective record of 2-4 (shoulda won all 4 of those losses).
biggest loss = 7 pts @ TB
biggest win = TODAY
I think we have a great shot at beating seattle next week.

wow! What a comeback by the Vikes!

Wade Phillips sort of reminds me of Elmer Fudd

Anyone notice that the technology for the yellow line has improved so much that it's present on almost all camera angles? Very cool.
Posted by: PDiddy | December 30, 2007 7:04 PM | Report abuse
I actually like Wade. He's an old timer who has paid his dues and finally has a shot at a title.
Posted by: PDiddy | December 30, 2007 7:06 PM | Report abuse
ok, safe to start looking ahead, no?
Let's say we go to seattle and get some revenge. . .
we get to play in Big d. . .
let's say GB beats whoever wins that thriller in TB . . .
we get a chance to get some more revenge. . .
now back to the regularly scheduled programming . . .

not taking a shot at him, just that's what it reminded me of.
Posted by: spotter | December 30, 2007 7:07 PM | Report abuse
Oh, and dallas is now back to 0 yards of total rushing. They were up to 1 :)

BTW I took down my Xmas tree today. You may (probably not) recall that I put it up at the beginning of our winning streak.
So now I have to find something for the playoffs. I still haven't decided if I should come back to RI for fear of jinxes.
Decisions decisons.
GO DEFENSE!!

sfskin, I think you and Lisa should huddle and come up with a list of superstitions for all the hamsters.
Posted by: PDiddy | December 30, 2007 7:10 PM | Report abuse
I'm sure this has been said in the last few weeks but to all the Santana haters out there . . . quote a 12 year old
"EAT IT you BAMFs!"
Posted by: sfskin | December 30, 2007 7:11 PM | Report abuse
that shot of JC bothered me, he seemed so uniterested in what he was being shown.
Posted by: spotter | December 30, 2007 7:11 PM | Report abuse
JC is looking at Sam Hollenbach write on a clipboard. For all we know, it's a recipe for prime rib.
Posted by: PDiddy | December 30, 2007 7:13 PM | Report abuse
Diddy - that would be a very looooongg list.
I think Lisa and I have a novel length list of superstitions.
Plus coming up with a list is probably bad luck. . . . .
: )

Yeah that shot at JC was not called for. How many of you are looking forward to the Lisa/RB date? lol

PDiddy: and missing out on a good recipe for prime rib isn't a horrible offense?
Posted by: spotter | December 30, 2007 7:14 PM | Report abuse
Come on don't people get that Toddball is working because TC has been in this offense for 7 years? That going to another team just ain't gonna be the same?
What a TODDTASTIC game!
Posted by: sfskin | December 30, 2007 7:15 PM | Report abuse

seems like a pretty big collapse. . .

so giants @ TB on sunday 1pm usually should mean the skins will play saturday in the night game (8pm?)
if i recall correctly, the conference that gets the late game saturday gets the early game sunday, which would give us the late game. however, i think it's quite unfair that the giants get 8 days between games. not cool.

they announced, skins have afternoon game on sat. sad for me, but oh well.

"P:
BJ brought out his old skins jersey to show the fans when he was in DC to open the season w/ the vikes last year, totally unnecessary and classless . . .
Posted by: skinsfan8KaboveMSL | December 30, 2007 06:52 PM"
That's alright. We showed BJ "what time it is" tonight. He's wiping his tears with that jersey wishing he was still in DC.

Me, too. They showed what they are really made of tonight against Dallas. It's like they were saying, "Dallas Cowgirls ... you are not TAKING anything from us!"

They did it WITH Sean. He was there in every one of our guys and coaches...even today. Especially today.
Can't think of a team in the current me-first era of professional sports that is more admirable than this one. What an amazing story. What a perfect coach!

Forgot to mention how perfect the final margin of victory is. Yes, Sean was there and will live on in the "21" point win forever!

HTTR!
Impressive win both offensively and defensively.
Anyone know why NYGiants played Sat but get to wait until Sun for their playoff game, While we played Sunday and get scheduled to go all the way out there to play on Saturday?

For all of you who were whining about Gibbs and everything else 4 weeks ago, take a look at the link below. Skins had the second most difficult schedule in the NFL.
