My HS football coach used to push us harder in two a days than these guys. What a bunch of wusses.

Jasno,
I remember last week when camp began and you asked us all what questions we'd like answered. It mostly involved questions about who's playing well, who's playing badly, how they're playing together. I wish you'd take the list out and see if you can answer any of the questions we asked.
I feel like we've gotten mainly injury reports, weather reports, and minutiae all of which are available on the Redskins website. I don't think they are the type of stuff you do best as a Redskins Insider. They're more outsider stuff.
I realize you're shorthanded out there with Howard's sudden departure, but it would be nice to come here and read some inside stuff. What have the coaches learned so far? What are the good news stories from camp? Who's playing better than expected? Is the timing between the QB and the receivers coming along? What will they try to do against the Ravens?

The more I watch the Redskins the more I realize how these guys are bunch of big babies. My HS practices were much tougher. These guys got it easy and are getting paid millions. We had 2-a-days for a month in sweltering heat.

Is there no indoor facility available? Hot in DC in the summer, who'da thunk it?
But we should remember Korey Stringer. It's a marathon, people, not a sprint.

Yeah, I was going to mention Stringer, but then I remembered 2-a-days in 105 degree heat as well...
Maybe it was the "space cowboys" that needed to get out of the heat? I'd hate to see Buges' keel over like his buddy did back in the Civil War...

KK, injury updates are probably all there is to talk about.
Camp has been open less than a week, and you want some nuggets about who is ascending up the depth chart.....
There hasn't even been a scrimmage yet, Christ, give JLa a friggin break.
More importantly Jason, when is the Reaper going to reschedule the presser?

Brandon Lloyd's training camp journal on Redskins.com, in which he discusses his diet and workout regimen, has drawn the attention of Comcast SportsNet.
Lloyd will be interviewed about how he was able to bulk up about 10 pounds this offseason, despite eating six meals a day.
Lloyd had a disappointing season in 2006, and I initially I thought it best that he focus on football this training camp instead of publishing his training camp journal.
But Lloyd's journal entries are always engaging and informative. He has had a solid camp so far and is getting along well with everyone. Nicely done.

hey JlaC and other RI folks, just caught this update, though I know he was a major goat while he was here: Warrick Holdman seems to have been hurt pretty bad in a practice today in Denver, so I'm just asking everyone to keep him in thoughts and prayers... Never want to see a guy get hurt like that...

After reading this blog, let me give you the "truth according to SIC-WID-IT ("Sick with it" for those trying to figure it out)
1) Gibbs coached a team from a 5 and 6 start, to a 10 and 6 finish (with one receiver)and a dropped INT away from the NFC Championship. We had health on our side at the time, and that type of run doesn't happen by accident.
2) Gregg Williams deserves a pass for last season. He had tons of injuries. Top 10 defense two out of three years...I'd bet my money they're right back up there again.
3) Some of you naysayers kill me. This is pretty much the same team that went to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Didn't Snyder and Gibbs bring those people in? Weren't many of them free agents too. We ALL cheered for Portis, Moss, Daniels, Washington, but yet we kill the FO when the same group underacheived
4) You all underestimate the running game. If the running game is what is was last season and the defense plays a little better(no injuries), we'll win three or four more games. Campbell doesn't have to be the savior.
5) Didn't the same FO lock up Betts, Thomas, and Sellars to long term deals before the season started?
6) Isn't this the same coaching staff and FO that put confidence into their young, DRAFTED D-linemen in Golston and Montgomery and said hey, we're fine. Isn't that what we want is to develop young talent?
7) Gibbs' biggest sin has been his overcommittment to Brunell...not practicing JC at all at the start of last season is inexcusable.
8) On the depth issue...how many teams have Pro Bowl lineman coming off the bench. It DOESN'T HAPPEN!!! We had some nice depth on the O-Line last year...Wade and Pucillo. They stepped in admirably, that't why they're called reserves.
Now that I've got that stuff off my chest...pass the Grey Goose...
Oh...one more thing, who cares if the JC commercial was fake...it was tight...If Carmen Electra were here right now, you think I would ask her if those are fake. I wouldn't be able to talk because I'd have one in my mouth.

"Camp has been open less than a week, and you want some nuggets about who is ascending up the depth chart....."
That's easy? The next contestant in the "I want to be Joe Jacoby"
contest: Stephon Heyer. Veteran O-lineman and the coaches seem pretty high on him, well except for Jason's sources in the FO? (Who was saying the FO knew what they were doing? They're about 50-50 right now.) If he does well in the scrimmage you might see him come out in the preseason opener. Perhaps he might push Samuels and Jansen? It sounds like Wade might have been doing that last year? But we still have a long way to go.

sicwidit,
My sentiments exactly. Just to add to your comments. The skins caught some bad breaks last season but I believe they will rise to the top of the division and make the playoffs! Can I get an Amen! Hallelujah!

Guys, I'm holding off on the whole who's hot/who's not thing until at least after the scrimmage.
And, yeah, my time is super short right now. I have one more child and one fewer beat partner than a year ago, so it's tough.

Jason,
Well if that's the way it has to be...
I think that you raised our expectations so high with the excellent Insider nuggets around the draft that I expected after your vacation you'd come back and hang the moon. You'd know, and tell us, what Coach Gibbs is thinking before he thinks it, etc.
And the new kid -- isn't that what mothers are for? (Don't tell my wife I wrote this.)

Word is, the participants in the "Fantasy Files" promos are told to be coy about the commercials, but that they are digitally enhanced.
Neil Rackers was exposed by Arizona Republic columnist Bob Young when Rackers' commercial debuted last year.
Posted by: mugamack | August 2, 2007 6:20 PM | Report abuse
What makes the commercials so perfect is that they take a startling feat that the athlete can actually accomplish (Soup knocking one ball out of the air with another) and add a once-in-a-lifetime element to the scenario to leave people wondering (the two receivers running to just the right spot and catching the balls out of the air).
I just hope Soup finishes up each pregame warm-up with a knock-one-ball-out-of-the-air-with-the-other attempt.
