Betts Takes It Easy (Updated)
Ladell Betts is not participating in this morning's full-pads practice. He's in shorts and is working with athletic trainers. Betts, you'll recall, took a helmet to or was kicked in the thigh last week and, according to Jim Zorn, has taken multiple shots to the thigh. We'll update you when we know if that is what is ailing him today.
Cornerback Cedric Holt went down at the end of a drill and was evaluated by trainers. He's walking on his own and appears to be fine -- or least to not have a significant injury.
Speaking of ailing...Jason Fabini is back today after being sick to his stomach yesterday.
Jasno isn't certain how much Malcolm Kelly will do, but reports that he is on the field. We'll update you. Anthony Montgomery, who had surgery for a broken bone in his hand Monday, is back on the field, riding a stationary bike. Missing from the morning work are the usual suspects: Devin Thomas, Anthony Mix, LaRon Landry, Eric Shelton, H.B. Blades (who had arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday), Rian Wallace, Erasmus James and Chris Wilson.
And let's try this one again. TE Chris Cooley, in collaboration with Children's Hospital, brought a group of sick children to training camp Tuesday to meet the team. They had the chance to take pictures and get autographs as players came off the field. Anyone interested in helping that charity, which aims to benefit teenagers with cancer, can find T-shirts and other gear at www.cafepress.com/trishhamilton. (For mysterious reasons known only to the guy who invented Loseable Type, I cannot link to this, so I had spell it out like somebody who failed Internets 101. How I do luv Loseable Type. If one of you could drop off a polo mallet at The Post, I'd be ever so grateful and I could fix this in no time.) All proceeds go to the hospital.
