And now we exhale ...

Beginning today, I'll be on vacation for a bit. And with things expected to be quiet around Redskins Park for a least a few seconds, Rick Maese will focus on a few writing projects he shelved the last few weeks for obvious reasons and Barry Svrluga is all about the Capitals.

We'll continue to post on the blog, just not as frequently as we have throughout the "offseason." And we'll roll as usual when the next three-day voluntary minicamp begins May 7. Thanks for all of your comments, suggestions and feedback in the weeks leading to the draft. It has definitely been a wild ride to this point with the new regime, and things figure to get even more interesting. Peace.

Vacation? I don't recall a RI user poll to determine whether this is approved.

Landry is the worst safety in the league the last 25 years. I have no proof to back that up, I just want him gone so that we can get to the REAL root of the problem on our defense: London Fletcher. I mean, the only reason that loser got to the Pro Bowl was because someone else was still playing. I mean, way to tank a season, London, so that you can get your own personal accolades!

What's your idea of "official tally"? You would find the official tally on Redskins.com, but they haven't put one up yet. The Post did put up an unofficial tally on Sunday and there was a lot of excitement about one or two of the names plus a lot of complaints that we hadn't signed LeGarrette Blount.

I'm all about being confident, but comon D. Hall, we will dominate the division. Now your quotes will be locker room fodder for the NFC East and they will be trying very hard to make you eat those words. Way to jinx us big mouth. How about snatching 7-10 picks and returning 2 for TD's before you run your mouth off.

Wow, After reading some of these comments its no wonder we redskin fans are looked at as jokes throughout the NFL.

Jason Dont let these idiots get to you, people who post this crap ARE NOT FANS
just TROLLERS.

I hope they pay you alot to put up with sensless comments from "so called fans like bsilvanus and frmi.

Have a good vacation, you deserve it if for nothing else then to get away from the abuse

Keiland Williams might be Shanny's pet project RB who could also play a part as a 3rd down back with his receiving skills.

Hopefully Carriker can play better in his more natural 3-4 end position as part of the Skins D line rotation.

Where are we looked at as jokes? EVERY fanbase has a few d-bags; I've always seen us as pretty well-respected in most circles, actually.

Love that breakdown of Carriker...sounds like he's got potential to be REALLY good at DE in the 3-4.

That because the better part of the last nearly 20 years the Redskins have been the lovable losers.

Everyone likes the lovable loder.

Wait until they start winning again year in year out... they'll be all kinds of folks hating on the 'skins.

Never one to shy away from competition or the spotlight cornerback DeAngelo Hall tells the Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg that the Redskins will be a force to reckon with in 2010.

"It’s based on the talent we feel like we’ve got. It’s based on the improvements I feel like we’ve made. It’s based on the scheme. The scheme alone is gonna give us four or five more wins. The games we lost by two, three points, we’ll win those games, easy.

"We’ll dominate our division, off of bringing Donovan McNabb in here, a guy who’s dominated the division in the past. So that’s just an educated guess. That’s an educated guess, and I stand behind. I’ll stand behind that. I’ll fight and claw to try to make that happen.”

Hall, 26, enters his seventh season as a NFL pro and has been with the Redskins since November 2008.

A player who seemed to go backwards a bit as he got older. LSU had offensive problems all season and both Williams and Scott (who went in the 6th) underwhelmed. Big backs fell in this draft, except for Matthews and Gerhart, so it's not that surprising he wasn't drafted. In an ordinary season he might have gone in Round 5.

His big game was the '07 bowl victory over Notre Dame.

I assume we are going to try and avoid politics, but we all know that after a few days of no new posting that stuff starts to come up. When it does I will try my best not to use any out-dated ethnic slurs towards anyone and avoid death threats.

SO WHOS GOT A JIB JAB TOPIC?

I would like to propose we bring back the discussions on building a new stadium in DC at some point. Maybe we can talk about nicknames for some of the new players? Or anyone got any neat current events or want to make up a new fake handle for some fun posts? What ever happened to Skippy?

Our old pal Mark Schlereth says the best fit for Alan Faneca is Pittsburgh and...you guessed it...Washington. Since Pittsburgh doesn't want him, AF might give us a look if Stink is even close to right.

I don't know how you measure fan 'respect' around the League. Back in the first Gibbs era, Washington lived and died with the team; Monday after a loss was always the worst day of the week. Most of that enthusiasm seems to be gone.

For sheer craziness, it's hard to match fans in Buffalo, Green Bay, or Oakland. Bronco fans are devoted beyond reason. But to me, the capital of NFL fandom is Chicago.

Those people are actively psychotic.

Brown,
Brought forward. Sorry actually had to work this morning. You're right you said three wins in the division I quoted

I just feel that the McNabb/Shanahan upgrade alone wins us an additional 4 games.

Posted by: gregblanchsucks | April 27, 2010 9:36 AM

Not surprising. The Skins (4-12) and Raiders (5-11), unfortunately, have much in common lately. These storied franchises are eaily the two most dysfunctional in the NFL.

Now, we have the Raiders former starting cornerback and GM.

The Raiders have our former starting QB, and now Rock.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more interaction with the Raiders as Bruce Campbell surely has connections with his former team.

These teams are almost mirror images of each other, from the overbearing owner down.

As far as Blount or any undrafted free agent is concerned, they're going to want to go where they think they have a chance to stick and/or feel comfortable with the scheme/coaching staff. That's why Blount signed with the Titans - they just shipped out LenDale White and needed another big back to pair w/ speedster Chris Johnson.
