Are people really wearing black to the game Sunday?

I bought tickets for my brother's birthday...or else I would not be going at all.

I really don't want to give Danny any more money while VC is being his yes-man.

I hope the Redskins are able to beat the Chiefs. This might be the last chance Zorn has to win a game as a head coach.

On the Lewis front: has Sherm Lewis made his presence felt, yet?

On the Portis front: how many injuries does Portis have and how much did he practice this week?

On the Daniels front: is he ready to play and will he be effective?

On the Samuels front: has it been determined if Samuels will play again? It would be sad to see such a great player go down this way, but I certainly understand the decision to pull the plug if you are in danger of seriously messing up your body.

From ESPN: "Quick, name the Saints' starting left tackle. Unless you follow this team on a weekly basis, you'll have a hard time coming up with Jermon Bushrod and his understudy Zach Strief. The Saints lost Pro Bowl left tackle Jammal Brown for the season -- and it hasn't mattered. Brees is one of the best quarterbacks in the league at getting the ball out quickly."

WTF? The Skins lost their PB left tackle and Campbell gets the ball out just as quickly as Brees and yet losing Samuels has really mattered for them. How can that be?

No, no he doesn't....

Good piece on Jarmon, however I don't get the mentality of not expecting much from rookies, that just blows my mind, why not expect a lot from them, and then...wait for it...put them in a position to produce....

I think you meant to say, "Campbell gets the ball out just as quickly as any quarterback who doesn't know where the heck he is going with the football".

To Brees' credit, he does make quick decisions and gets the ball out fast. After getting so disrespected in San Diego, I am glad things have worked out so well for him in New Orleans.

Posted by: RedSkinHead | October 16, 2009 8:12 AM | Report abuse

To think that SD drafted Bree's, then let him go getting nothing in return...pretty sweet deal for NO.

I'd like to see Jarmon get the start this weekend...I'm really excited about his potential...he and rak at ends...thats something to look forward to...

Cornfucius say, "A QB with a good head on his shoulders is usually better than a QB with a good arm attached to one of his shoulders".

When Brees left San Diego he was coming off of a serious shoulder injury that required surgery. It was a risky signing by New Orleans that worked out well.

Campbell is at best a career backup.

Eagles guard Stacy Andrews was recently involved in a domestic dispute in which his girlfriend told police that Andrews punched her in the face, according to a report filed by police officers in Lumberton Township, Burlington County. Andrews denied the accusation yesterday.

The NFL really needs to step up and start suspending players for this madness.

From the Times:

Defensive end Phillip Daniels, who tore his right bicep at Carolina, sat out again on Thursday but plans to practice on Friday in hopes of playing on Sunday.

"I can't be as physical as I want to be, but at the same time, I know that what I give on Sundays could be a lot more than a young guy who might not know the defense as well as I do," said Daniels, who's in his 10th year playing for defensive coordinator Greg Blache. "Some people say I'm crazy, but I know my team needs me."

Offensive tackle Chris Samuels (neck) and punter Hunter Smith (groin) remained sidelined althiugh Smith could return on Friday. Defensive tackles Albert Haynesworth (ankle), Cornelius Griffin (elbow) and Anthony Montgomery (knee) were limited. Running back Clinton Portis (calf) took short yardage and goal line work.

"It's getting better every day," said Griffin, who didn't play last Sunday but said he's more likely than not to return against the Chiefs.

And linebacker Chris Wilson did practice. Just couldn't find him in the rain

Landry the menace Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe can't forget his four years as a teammate of Redskins safety LaRon Landry at LSU.

"He's a pretty mean guy on and off the field," Bowe said. "He'd hit you in walkthrough."

Told what Bowe had said, Landry smiled and agreed, "I used to do all kinds of crazy stuff."

I'd like to see Landry do something crazy, like intercept a ball, or cause a fumble...

I would agree with you if he really did do it, but something doesn't sound right. This is a really big guy. If he hit her out of anger, it would be ugly. They don't really get into that. Yes, if the guy is guilty, then they should throw the book at him, but in light of some of the scams perpetrated by young ladies seeking "just go away" money from players, I reserve judgement until all of the facts are known.

I agree that these guys do get away with stuff from time to time, but when you hear about the details of this Rothliesberger fiasco, you realize it works both ways. These football players have a lot of money, are really young, and many are not the sharpest tools in the shed. It is really easy for them to get into a bad situation. I'm not saying that was the case with Andrews, but I would like to know all of the facts.

Sorry Drano, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.

The incident with Merriman? I don't know, in some cases the dude in the situation is already guilty in the public view based on who he is and what he is.

I think the chick Tila is sort of, um... sick in the head? Just my opinion, but I think she began to wild out a little (she did have a few right?), Merriman tried to calm her ass down, she still was wildin', so he did whatever he did in an attempt to calm her down.

Not saying it's cool, but it goes back to what I was saying about how sometimes women sort of "promote the drama".

Last year it was Colt Brennan. Now the cry is “Start Todd Collins.” Granted, Collins looked good when Campbell went down two years ago, but that’s because Collins had been playing in Al Saunders’ offense for a decade (and Campbell was still learning Al’s infamous 800-page playbook). How has Collins looked in Zorn’s offense the last two pre-seasons? Definitely not better than Campbell. Folks, there’s a reason Collins has spent his career on the bench. Putting him in for Campbell is like urinating in your pants. You’ll get a nice, warm feeling and some relief, but you’ll still be sitting in a mess.

Did you ever hear of the Hawthorne effect? Put Collins in to show the fans and players that you are at least trying to fix the problem. If nothing else it sends a message to the players about accountability, which Zorn ahs done a poor job with to date, and it tells the fans that something is being done. It might not work, but it at least answers the plea of "For gosh sakes, do something!"

Vinny neglected the receivers for years.

Vinny decided to switch to a WCO scheme which the personnel doesn't fit.

Vinny neglected the oline for half a decade.

Vinny traded away good draft picks that could have been used to bolster the offense.

Yes, it is Vinny's fault. It's ultimately Danny's fault for not firing Vinny after the 2000 season.

As long as the Skins fight and claw their way into the ranks of the average-to-mediocre, Snerratto will continue to indulge the delusion that the Skins are "close" and that they are one mega-rich FA away from real contention.

Enough already.

We have a very good to potentially-great defense in place.

We need to redo the offense. The sooner we start, the better. Otherwise by the time our offense catches up with our D, the window of opportunity for this D might have closed.

I Agree with Doc Walker when he says that with this offense, the defense and special teams have to score. Still, the Redskins have no dynamic returners, other than the occasional Santana Moss return. Off season we brought in speed guys, Dorsey - Alridge. When the season rolls around we're still stuck with Randle El and the plodding Cartwright as returners.
