Campbell, It Turns Out, Is Clairvoyant

Former Redskins cornerback Shawn Springs is not expected to play for the New England Patriots. When asked earlier this week if he would enjoy seeing Springs tonight, quarterback Jason Campbell said, "Springs? Let me see if he's going to play first."

The response elicited a roar from the press corps.

REPOST:

Can't wait to see RB Anthony Alridge tonite.

He's the fastast guy on our training camp roster period Well maybe 2nd cuz Santana is a burner.

Anthony was recommended to vinnie and danny by a future HC candidate: Mike Shanahan; and we all know Shanahans track record for choosing running backs.

You're right, my apologies, I digressed momentarily as I just couldn't tolerate those absurd comments going unanswered.

Now I want to see the Skins tell TBrady, at the line of scrimmage before the first snap, "I drink YOUR milkshake!"... followed by a long, loud, slurping sound... and then give him a vicious high/low sack (causing fumble, touchdown, glory, etc.)...

If predicting that Springs won't play makes you a clairvoyant then half the posters on this blog are gypsy fortune tellers. And the other half are looking for Marty's EM ADD.

Pass rush didn't look good there. And it seems the secondary could be a big concern this season. I don't really trust Rogers, and Hall will have to prove himself. The safeties are more run stuffers than pass defenders. We'll see. (Would've been nice to see a solid pass rush, though.)

This secondary is going to be a problem, especially if Hall continues to play scared. He is not reacting. He's just trying to protect the long ball, which hasn't worked because he's already been scored on.

Second string d line is bringing some heat. That depth may pay off in the 4th quarter of some games during the season.

Posted by: 20yrskinfan | August 28, 2009 10:34 PM | Report abuse

Bummer of an ending, but still a great game for us. We held our own with the Pats. Good sign on all counts. Wish we could have had more stability overall. But I thought we made good adjustments on both sides of the ball. Saw some good guys who should make the practice squad. Alridge is one. Marko Mitchell never fails to impress. He's gotta be the #5, especially since Campbell tends to throw high more often than low. Tall receivers are also tough to cover. Colt is wishy washy. Win big or lose big with him. I wanna see Chase Daniels and find out if he's more stable with a decent upside. A good night all around.
