Good to hear, but why was it kept quiet until today, and only now confirmed by a "league source" ?

Good for Sellers, well deserved, I might add.

4th, you see my question about the T. McBride?

Been along time since I've posted ... have a feeling I've seen this movie before (groundhog day?) ... No idenity and lack of playmaking are still our biggest problems ... look all QB's make bad or dumb plays /decisions, but the good ones make a higher % of smart and good decisions ... Jc doesn't make a ton of bad plays ... He just doesn't make much happen ... so we kind have a take whats there kind of offense (no play making no improv) thats where things happen in this league ... I'll bet over 50% of the plays are made when things breakdown and the play thats called is covered or the hole is not there ... thats on the players playmakers are going to find away to make a play ... those guys ... your QB, your feature back and your WR's need to break a tackle cut back, make someone miss you know make abig out nothing once in a while and of course the coach needs to call a play once in awhile that leads to a big play ...

One of the long time yodas up here speaks and you guys just keep blathering through the chatter. Old School is the man.

[That said, I still say that problem starts and stops with the offensive line and the pocket that collapsed too quickly to step up into.]

A good move to keep a veteran team player. Now he needs to earn it this Sunday by knocking Chris Long on his butt when we run off tackle.

Why didn't we run screens, slants, draws, delays to slow the blitz? Did we, what happened?

Where are the vet OT's that should be crawling all over Redskins Park this week? That practice squad signing isn't what I'm talking about.

Turk is worth a look, but I don't think we are in dire need of Olineman.....

" ... Sellers's new contract, ... , runs through 2014. ..."

Five years for a 34 year old full back? I love Mike Sellers as much as the next guy, but long term contracts for guys on the other side of their primes is what gets the Skins in trouble. He just had an on-field, out-cold concussion last year.

p.s. Please don't tell Sellers that I'm suggesting his new contract might not be a good idea. I value my own life.

Remember that NFL years on a contract is rather meaningless. Only the signing bonus is guaranteed. So Sellers could have signed for 20 years, same thing.

Curious timing...coming off a game where the lead RB averaged something like 1.9 yards per carry.

Maybe he'll block better with a new deal?

Posted by: McMetal | September 16, 2009 4:02 PM | Report abuse

Mike Sellers to me is nothing but a big fullback who will miss a lot more blocks than he actually delivers.

This is the same guy who couldn't get in the end zone against the Bengals last year people from the 1 yard line.......

Good for Mike. Now if they could sign a running back that does`nt have the owner of the team in his back pocket they might be able to win!

Posted by: vexed50verizonnet | September 16, 2009 4:40 PM | Report abuse

Mike Sellers needs to be cut, not re-signed.

He can't read his blocks, has bricks for hands, and can't like up in the right spot.

Whatever. The Redskins will never get any better with the front office they have.

Good move Hes the 2nd or 3rd best blocking fullback in the NFL. Now we need to do something about our Quarterback, o-line, and secondary.

I can't forgive him for a few very bone headed plays. Not a smart player, and is a prime example of what is wrong with the Skins. To many dumb dumbs.

Us savage Redskins give heap wampum for old running paleface. We have too much firewater. Me go to squaw now.

Zorn, when your averageing 34 yards per carry after 1 play, RUN IT AGAIN

Posted by: pabrian2003 | September 16, 2009 7:17 PM | Report abuse

so much talk about rhythm and the Zorny KILLS the rhythm on play 2.

2 ...1st play awesome, 2nd play horrible, game over.
