Smoot's Status Now Questionable
Nickel cornerback Fred Smoot, who has a rib injury, was downgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams at FedEx Field, a Redskins spokesman said today.
Smoot was listed as probable Friday on the injury report. If Smoot is sidelined, second-year cornerback Justin Tryon probably would move up on the depth chart.

Justin Tryon is this year's Leigh Torrence and this could be the Blown Coverage Bowl II.

Oh man! Justin Tryon did not show he is a good nickel corner during preseason. Rams will take advantage of that.
Posted by: AllHail | September 19, 2009 1:42 PM | Report abuse
Oh man! Tyron is not a good slot corner. The Rams will target him.
Posted by: AllHail | September 19, 2009 1:43 PM | Report abuse
Nothing good will come of this. If Vinny hadn't (foolishly) drafted Tryon as high as he did, he'd have been cut already. He has no business in an NFL uniform. When we lose the game tomorrow, this will undoubtedly be a big reason why.
Posted by: wahoo2x | September 19, 2009 1:47 PM | Report abuse
Of course the Rams will target him -- they target Smoot, too.
Posted by: Samson151 | September 19, 2009 1:48 PM | Report abuse
Vinny is questionable too (unless he ducks his postgame radio show again -- then, no questions).

There better be a lot of downfield shots tomorrow. And by downfield, I mean at least 10 yards, geez.

Sounds like Palm Beach County, the difference being that here in Florida, the girls, like the hurricanes, just blow.

Shoot, seeing The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello) in concert at The Troubador for $10 is well worth living in So-Cal. Especially when at said event he has special guests:

Perry Farrell
Dave Navaro
Flea
Stuart Copeland
Travis Barker

Steve Vai
Wayne Kramer

1. so is the queen(megskin) back? if so welcome back! too bad there's nothing or no one to root for on this team anymore. aside from chris cooley.
B. CL, i second the movie thing. though i didn't think tombstone was that bad. good, bad and the ugly. end of story.
F. my posts were also held for "approval" because of my disdain for this reporting. i didn't use any f-bombs but i used the D word.
7. wtf happened to LT? did he get old that quickly? and what does that mean for portis?
J. thanks to boz (whom i like!) for providing bulletin board material to the rams! (i know you're working for us boz. you're hoping skins lose and we start tracking ***skins 1 routes midseason...love the way you think!)

I agree, but how long since we crushed someone we should've? Tired of the shoulda woulda coulda from the last 9 games. Certainly hope you're right Edvar. This team has significant talent, I've decided it's the coaching that made the Ginas loss so ugly - the O showed us almost nothing (but we have enough talent, including now at WR, despite our mediocre QB and O-line!).

"This team has significant talent,..."
Interesting and juicy debate topic, this is.
Question: if there was a redskin 'fire sale,' which players would immediately draw league interest?
My list:
Carlos Rogers
DeAngelo Hall
Santana Moss
Chris Cooley
Albert Haynesworth
Brian Orakpo
Hunter Smith
And that's about it.
We have a lot of guys with big names, but when you miss the playoffs routinely, how can you say you have a talented team?
The falcons, pats, chargers, stillers, iggles, saints, vikings, jints, colts, jets, titans, packers all have talented teams.
What redskins suppor is an underperforming team with parts that don't fit: run-blocking linemen and young pass catching wide receivers.
When we get the fit right, we'll be talented and winning team.

Yikes...
Hopefully this is Westbrook, Tryon or Barnes time to shine!
Can any of them play man-to-man in the slot or do the Skins have to use zone coverage all year?

Oh No don`t pannick , this is just the team that beat us last year when were on a roll and we never recovered from that loss! I say you better pannick and get fired up for this team any way that you can! One of the Redskins players said that the coach does not know how to give a good pregame fire me up speach. Then let someone else give the speach! PLEASE! Lets get fired up some how some way! PLEASE!

From what I've seen, K Barnes is better than J Tryon.
For that matter, an injured Smoot is better than J Tryon.
What a waste of defensive talent if we go up against the Rams with Colonel Sanders at corner.

Wow, two Comment Post lists that don't start with that "1st" crap (like anybody cares). There's is so much really good stuff on these lists by the usual suspects, likewise the crap, but can we kill the waste of e-space on being "First"? Who gives a $#!+ ? Whoever gave us the stats for JC in the shotgun vs in-the-pocket gets props from me, thats something to watch in Sunday's game...Value.

Okay, a question for the board.
I know BOTH factors contribute to the offensive woes a bit, but...
Is the problem more that Coach Zorn's play calling IS questionable, or is the problem more that Coach Zorn's play calling is limited and vanilla due to Campbell's inability to run even the simpler plays well yet (much less the more intricate and dynamic ones)?
It's kind of a which came first/the chicken or the egg type of deal when viewed in that light, isn't it?
Either way you get the same result, but the cure will only work if you diagnose and treat the correct symptom.
