Zorn Ruling Only Washington Out

Jim Zorn said the Redskins are ruling out only linebacker Marcus Washington ahead of Sunday's game against the New York Giants, although a bevy of players were unable to participate fully in practice today.

The defensive front seven has been the most affected, with middle linebacker London Fletcher the biggest concern. Fletcher still has a walking boot on his sprained foot and is getting treatment. "If we can't get him on the field by Friday, then I think that would be a problem," Zorn said.

DT Kedric Golston (bone spurs) and DE Andre Carter (foot) remain in walking boots as well. DT Cornelius Griffin (shoulder) did not take part in all of practice although he is likely to gut it out again this weekend. The Giants are a dominant rushing team and Zorn knows this could be a difficult match-up.

"It's very scary with our front four, and I don't know who is going to make it back," Zorn said.

On offense, guard Pete Kendall was given Wednesday off to rest his knees, which is normal. Running back Clinton Portis, who added a rib muscle strain to his array of injuries, also sat out, but overall is feeling "a little bit better," Zorn said, with the rib muscle problem not severe, the coach said.

Left tackle Chris Samuels rested his sore knee as well, but he is scheduled to play. Tailback Ladell Betts continues to look better after suffering a knee injury and Zorn said he looked "very good" at practice today.

Looks like the backup front seven will be playing this game. Need the fans for them. Better not be a bunch of Giants yahoos waving towels.

freak, isn't it illegal to own a gun out where you live?

Posted by: dealer1 | November 26, 2008 3:25 PM

No. Not yet, anyway. This is my first purchase, but there will probably be more in short order, while it's still legal. Sadly the New Guy heading to DC has a history of opposing one's right to defend oneself.

Also, F injuries. Except for the Giants' injuries.

F the Giants.

OK guys, important stuff. I got to decide on my flex guy in FF.

Fred Jackson of Buffalo vs SF. He gets a good number of touches for a backup, but he's a backup

Deion Branch vs dal. Hasselback has to throw it to someone, right? Branch is his #1 guy? Sort of.

Brandon Jones vs Det. Tenn's #2 WR, but I expect Tenn to run the ball vs Det.

Chester Taylor vs Chi. Another backup who gets touches, had a good game vs Chi in the first meeting

Devery Henderson vs TB. Brees throws it to everyone, so Henderson has been pretty quiet past few weeks with Colston back. Just 23 catches for the season, but nearly 25 yards a catch

--- little help ----

Second verse, same as the first:

F Eli Manning.

F Tom Coughlin.

F Brandon Jacobs & Plaxico Burress, whether they play or sit.

F the Giants.

F waiting another four days for this game to kick off.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving, RI!

Nate, fyi, the ESPN projection thing has JohnD and me at 111-111.

They've got you winning.
The other game is 4th vs MOO, they both need the W and the projection is 100-98.

Might come down to the 4th quarter on Monday ... which haven't been that kind to you

So far this season, I've been able to see 4 Skins games on TV. New York Giants, Dallas x 2, and Pittsburgh. So that makes us 1-3 in games that are on TV down here.

I'm hoping that I'm not a jinx, since our next two games, Giants and Ravens, are both going to be televised here!

'After being elected as President, Obama announced that he favors measures that respect Second Amendment rights, while at the same time keeping guns away from children and criminals. He further stated that he wants to close the gun-show loophole and make guns childproof, and that he supports reinstating the expired Assault Weapons Ban.'

freak- Come on're better than that. That's something Hannity or Rush would's catchy, but not the truth. Same as much of the crap out of Olbermans mouth.

Oops. I didn't add your post in there, freakzilla. Don't mean to imply that you're saying those good things about the Pres-Elect... :)

Z, my take on football is that anyone who doesn't play for the Skins sucks. :-)

That said, I'd go with Chester Taylor. Vikings are at home. Bears will be keying on Adrian Peterson in the run, and will be focused on Berrian in passing situations. Taylor can fly below the radar to contribute in both scenarios.

I don't think you're a jinx, but what about that swill you're drinking? Could that be the problem? Last week you tried for burgundy and gold by drinking red ale and yellow beer.

This week maybe you can drink burgundy (the wine) and goldwasser? Even if the 'Skins lose, you won't remember it in the morning.

You could try marroon and black (stout), although I think Zorn's moved beyond that so we can too.

And thankfully a *beep beep* to quickly move away from politics and back to the Redskins...

Fletcher is the only guy that scares me being out, Washington has been out most of the year again and our front four has been playing like backups all year anyway so why not give the real backups a shot. I actually hope our front four is a rotation of Griff, Monte, Boschetti at tackle and Alexander, Evans and Gholston at ends. We don't get a pass rush anyway so why play the little guys at end? Play Taylor and Wilson at the rush linebacker spots, and blitz a lot. With Burress hurt or out, our secondary can man up against them easy, play beef on the line and stop the run, make them test our strength.
