Justin Tryin - Barely In The NFL, But Already All-Pro With The Media Schlubs
This kid is a keeper, folks, trust me. Just did our five minute conference call with the Skins most recent draft pick, and this corner is fired up and has the gift of gab. He's got All-NFL Quote Team written all over here. All the schlubs in here - well, all 8 of us who are here - were of one mind when he got off the phone - he's gotta be around here for a long time.
Tryon, who goes by JT, has no lack of confidence in his abilities as a corner, or returning kicks. "I am going to get you to the 50; anytime I catch the ball at least I'm going to get you to the 50."
Asked what the rookie will bring to the Skins, he said "I bring wisdom to the game. I bring heart to the game. I was made for this. I was made to play football. I was made for this ... This is all I can do." Despite being 5-foot-9, the brash kid said he's looking forward to playing the 6-foot-4 guys who catch balls for a living. "I love to compete, so I'm looking forward to guarding T.O. and Chad Johnson and stuff like that."
Asked if he was aware of the other corners already on the roster, Tryon said: "It really don't matter ... That's my spot to take."
This kid makes Fred Smoot look tongue-tied, and he sounds about 10-times cockier than Carlos Rogers did when he drafted three years ago (that's saying something). Will be interesting to see how he meshes with the vets, but from this brief interchange with him the kid seems like a playful dude, someone who loves life and is clearly enjoying this, one of the biggest days of his life.

Love it. He's going to be a solid addition. When Rogers gets back, Tryon at nickel (or even starting ahead of Rogers) could allow Springs to move to S.

Lots of CBs are off the board - might be a reason to take him here.

What I really like about the draft thus far is that every guy is likely to help us next year. There are no projects.
Thomas and Kelly will definitely see time at WR. Davis will be the second TE. Rinehart will be a backup lineman. Tryon will play nickel back.
Pleasantly surprised thus far. The depth we're getting will allow us to save money (rather than paying $$ for free agents) and finally develop a core of young talent.

Foxsports.com sez:
A strong cover corner who started all 26 games he played at ASU, Tryon had a great pro day in late March, solidifying himself as a second day pick. The Redskins add a guy who can likely play as soon as next year.
Nice.

If we take a saftey in this draft, Hefney would be a great pick too.

Hefney is 5'7? No thanks.

Schuening and Justice are still on the board. I know we have drafted a lot of offense today, but does think we should go after one these guys?

The key to succeeding at 5'9" is the kind of swagger that Tryon is exhibiting. You need the proper competitive attitude to keep up in this league, and it sounds like he's got it.
If this were only about height, we might as well draft Gheorghe Muresan to play corner.

I think a pass rushing threat, whether it's an OLB or a DE, has to be the next pick.
Darrell Robertson could be a nice DE pickup if he's still around. Marcus Howard at OLB would be a nice project at LB with great pass rush skills and speed.
Henderson at LB would be a solid addition.

SS Barnett, LB Erin Henderson still on the board...we could juse them.

I do like DEMETRIUS BUTLER.....with Buges to mold him for a couple years ....he will be a steal in a late round.

Tryon a Cowboys lover? He better change his favorite NFL team real quick! Check out his Q&A from the combine...
Question: "When you play Madden, what team do you use? Do you put yourself on the team?"
Tryon: "I use the Dallas Cowboys. That's my favorite team."

There's no denying that the Redskins need depth at Safety. Caleb Campbell. Obviously, in terms of character, you can't get any better. I think he has real potential as a SS as well. He's one of the "long shots" according to ESPN... but if he's still undrafted after seven rounds, that would be a shame. Especially considering the needs of a lot of teams, including the Redskins.

... and he has the size to play as a kind of auxiliary outside linebacker.

2006 proved that in this defensive sheme the CB position is essential. Rogers is the third best conerback on this team in my opinion becuase of his inconsistant play. Springs is close to the end of his career, so adressing CB is a great move. Between Tryon and Smoot we are going to have the most mouthy and annoying densive backfield in the NFL. And just when the opposing WR starts to get destracted......SMACK. Landry levels his a$$. I like it.

Come on guys! What the heck? I was all for the cereberal strategy of laying back and trading out of the first round and still getting what we wanted. But what in the world is this now? Trading away the just recently acquired 5th round pick? I hope we got something good out of it. The windbags on ESPN, though, can't find the time to stop talking about picks that happened 24 hours ago to report on the details of any trade.
