Kareem Moore practices in pads, Haynesworth ailing
Free safety Kareem Moore returned to practice in pads Thursday, but defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth was unable to take any team reps.
Moore, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Aug. 23, returned to practice earlier in the week but Thursday's practice marked the first time he wore pads.
"He went through some drills. We'll just see how he does day by day," Shanahan said. "But he's getting better. Much improved."
Quarterback Donovan McNabb, running back Clinton Portis and linebacker Perry Riley practiced fully, according to the Redskins injury report.
Reed Doughty started in place of Moore last Sunday against Dallas. Shanahan has not ruled Moore out of this week's game against Houston.
"Looked pretty good, like he's getting better," Shanahan said of Moore's work Thursday. "You've got to start working out before you can start going through football related drills, but you could see his agility is coming back and hopefully it won't be long."
Haynesworth, meanwhile, was listed on the team's injury report Wednesday as having limited participation. Shanahan said Haynesworth sprained his ankle at Wednesday's practice.
"He didn't take any team reps today. It was a little sore today," Shanahan said.
"Hopefully, it's not too serious and he'll be able to practice tomorrow."
Linebacker Perry Riley also returned to practice. Shanahan said that "it looks like he's full-speed and ready to go."

I'd love to have Moore back but in all seriousness, with the offensive team coming in this week and the potentially deadly deep pass attack, I'm not sure I want Moore in there this week if he isn't 100% full go.
That said, I doughty Reid will play much better than an 80% Moore but still...I'm just sayin'.

Points were at a premium...and the Redskins were pitching a shutout...I don't care about expected points...what about expected turnovers in the red zone...or expected block field goals...take the points!

That's weak sauce. Gibbsian. Only a pansy would turn down a first and 10 on the 12 yard line with a 10-0 lead.
That's not playing to win, that's playing not to lose.
We ended up with 1st and goal on the 5 and SHOULD have ended the game there, except we called 3 dumb plays in a row and then screwed the pooch.
95% of the time, we would walk away with at least a 13-0 lead anyway, if not more.
Addendum: I'm going to start referring to Haynesworth as the "Third nipple", cause that's how useless he is.

I'm REALLY hoping Kareem Moore is "The Answer" all of us are banking on him to be.
I've seen no evidence of him being better than Doughty or Horton.
Maybe it's just wishful thinking. Let's hope not.

You can expect a number of other small-type injuries from Haynesworth this season, it's his only real way of opting out of playing the 3-4 without giving up his paycheck.
I don't doubt that he has a mild sprain, but I would wager that a guy that was 100% bought in to being here would be at practice.
Again, I hope I am wrong, but I see the signs of a guy that now realizes he isn't going to get traded so he figures he might as well sit rather than go in for 15-20 plays on Sunday.
On paper the Redskins don't have great DL depth and I know that's why they kept Haynesworth.
But games aren't played on paper.
And if Albert only goes out and gives 50% when he is out there, he really is a waste of a roster spot.

If they aren't going to trade Haynesworth, I'm just going to shut up commenting about him.
All the relentless criticism and ridicule is counter-productive and will just detract from his play. We already know the $100 mil contract was a big mistake, but it wasn't his mistake.
