Kelly Decision Due after Bye Week

From Jason La Canfora:

Jim Zorn said the Redskins will rest rookie wide receiver Malcolm Kelly through the bye week and then decide whether to put him on the injured-reserve list after that.

Zorn said they will push him hard in practice when he comes back to the field and are hoping for the best, but admitted, "it's heading towards ending his season."

Zorn also said tackle Cornelius Griffin would not play this week. He'll rest his shoulder and return to play Pittsburgh.

...

And then there's the matter of Jason Taylor's bloody sock...

Rest up CG.

Put the kid on IR already. He can't walk around without his knee blowing up like a balloon.

I hope Malcom can make it but don't see it happening.

"He's playing football, for gosh sakes, not walking down the street," Jim Zorn said of the bloodflow on Monday.

Man, I hope Kelly somehow heals up... it's a long season, and his athleticism could be something to aid the Skins passing game. If he can get on the field, that is... which unfortunately does seem unlikely. Hope so though. And we gotta get Thomas involved more, even if it's just to stretch the field on a couple long pass opportunities a game. Something to stretch the field more with the passing game, it's what's keeping our offense from breaking out on the scoreboard, IMO.

Put the kid on IR and let him rest the knee. Hopefully he will study hard and come back strong next year.

Hey Stumped -- Maybe the Skins should consider trading all their early draft picks for seventh rounders. That would be like 25-30 seventh rounders? If they released half of the team, then they could sign 27 of them for next year ;-> LOL...

Except for Brooks -- all the other Skins draft picks were expected to provide depth while they learn how to play in the NFL. Any production in the first year is gravy and often the result of circumstance (Horton for Doughty) or dedication (Thomas and Davis).

You have to think they are holding him off IR as long as they can so that he can get as much practice with the team, he can hang around the facility after being on IR but can't practice or be in drills.

From jackazz extraordinaire Peter King:

Washington Redskins (5-2) at Detroit Lions (0-6)
It makes no sense, picking Dan Orlovsky to win an NFL game. But I've had pretty good luck with the upset recently -- Miami over San Diego, St. Louis over Dallas -- and I've got the Washington-taking-Detroit-lightly feel here, along with the Marinelli-making-life-miserable-for-his-losers feel. Detroit will play very hard and get a few bounces, finally.

Prediction: Detroit Lions 20, Washington Redskins 17

In case you all didn't see Marley's story on the previous thread, well worth a repost:

Ladies and Gents:
I work at FedEx field, and I want to share an interesting story with all of you. A Mexican gentleman contacted our offices earlier today, and wrote us this email straight from his work office in Durango, MX:
My friends....... I have a dream....... Redskins game Monday night....... 1 ticket...... can you help me please?
The gentleman proceeded to call us, and he speaks barely any English. One of my coworkers spoke with him in Spanish and he purchased a ticket for the Monday night game against the Steelers. Yes, he is flying all the way from Mexico to see the burgundy and gold play. He had a 15 minute conversation trying to figure out how to get to the stadium and to find "will call" so that he can get his ticket on Monday night. Absolutely beautiful, what a fan!!
Hail to the Redskins!

Steinberg should just get a job working as Smoot's hype man already....

OK, I was warming to Peter King, but double F walking King's way...

Shut Kelly down, stop pushing him hard, why risk it further, red shirt the kid and bring in a healthy body!

You can't deny that Jay Tay is a mensch (i tried yesterday when I had a bad definition of the word and made an azz of myself, and good!)

By the way, you probably heard about the guy running on the field in the 2nd half...what you might not have seen unless you were at the game (since TV stations rarely show those clowns) was Santana lining up to lay him out. It was awesome. Here he is, a 5-9 WR about to return an important kickoff and he's trying to lay the wood. Love 'Tana.
