Kevin Mitchell Has Passed Away

Have received the news that former Redskins linebacker Kevin Mitchell has passed away today. Mitchell, who was a second round pick by San Fran in the mid 1990s and played for the Skins from 2000-2003, was just 36.

Details are still coming in and I have not heard anything official. There are some rumors that it may have been related to sleep apnea, but please, that is not confirmed and just something making the rounds. Mitchell was a star at Syracuse when I was there, and had a tremendous reputation on campus as a leader, a player and a person.

There are still several people at Redskins Park who knew him well or played with him, and from what I gather the team is trying to get more information on the tragic loss. I am sure many of you have fond memories of his play - big blocked punts or interceptions - and we'll all keep his family in our thoughts and prayers.
