Keydrick Vincent Visit (Updated)

You guys might remember I blogged about thsi dude when Baltimroe cut him a few weeks back and said I thought he'd be a great fit here, especially in the run game ...

Well, sources say, Vincent has a trip to visit Washington planned and is set to fly here tonight after visiting the Rams today. Losing Randy Thomas for any amount of time is huge - and he seemed to think it might the end of his season last night - and I don't think they would try to get by with Jason Fabini as a starting RG for 14 games.

Vincent is a solid starter. Not sure that he's still in perfect shape after a few weeks as a free agent, but guess we'll find out.

Now. St. Louis might be more desperate for O Line help than anyone in the league, so maybe they make it hard for him to leave there without a contract ... but he has a home nearby, was interested in the Skins from the moment he was cut, and it would make a lot of sense to get this guy.

A few personnel guys I trust told me they thought he was the best guard on the street the last few weeks, so we'll see if the Skins get it done. They have good wiggle room under the cap - $ 2 million or so - to play with and if Randy's injury is as bad as some fear, this is as good a time as any to spend it. This dude can play.

Also, I would be shocked if the Skins didn't get a call from Will Whitticker today. Whitticker was the apple of Joe Bugel's eye during OTas and was the front runner to play left guard at one point if the Todd Wade experiment failed.

His weight was an issue and he needed to play tougher, but he was a smart kid with good feet and some starting ability. Whitticker suffered a high ankle injury early in camp, though, and was cut the next day. He signed a 7 week injury settlement, according to a source, and would actually be eligible to re-sign with the Skins following this weekend.

He's been working out in Arizona and is said to be healthy. If things don't work out with Vincent he could be a possibility, because he knows the system and, with the bye, would have a few weeks to workout here and get ready for October. He loved the Skins and was hopeful of making the team before he got hurt.

Another name to watch if nothing else.
