alright...rams only have one TO, so we need to hold them here.

This one will go to the wire.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 3:57 PM | Report abuse

We're in serious trouble. They have 4 downs each possession and all they have to do is get 20 more yards and we're screwed.

Posted by: Thundershock | October 12, 2008 3:58 PM | Report abuse

Rams' kicker Hall has a leg... you have to figure that Haslett will want to get to at least the WAS 40 to try the game-winner. The D needs to step up and start smacking these fools.

Posted by: JinxMan | October 12, 2008 3:58 PM | Report abuse

Nice play Rogers!

Pressure, pressure, pressure!
Put on the defensive pressure!

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 12, 2008 3:59 PM | Report abuse

If I were the Skins, I'd be calling time outs here.

Posted by: Thundershock | October 12, 2008 3:59 PM | Report abuse

Ouch. That had to hurt.

Rams win :( This is devastating :(

Posted by: Lisa_R | October 12, 2008 4:01 PM | Report abuse

Game over folks. Bad clock management by the Skins and even worse defense by #29

Posted by: Thundershock | October 12, 2008 4:01 PM | Report abuse

I guess we pretty much lost it now. Too bad. Trap games are serious.

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:01 PM | Report abuse

CHOKE

Posted by: TheSuperhoo | October 12, 2008 4:01 PM | Report abuse

and that would be a wrap... when you turn the ball over, you lose games

Posted by: JinxMan | October 12, 2008 4:01 PM | Report abuse

Way to blow a game to a worthless team!

7-1 huh??

Posted by: RedskinRay1 | October 12, 2008 4:01 PM | Report abuse

Okay....like 25 seconds went off the clock. What happened?

Posted by: dlhaze1 | October 12, 2008 4:01 PM | Report abuse

Can't believe it. Can't believe it.

Posted by: patriotnumber18 | October 12, 2008 4:01 PM | Report abuse

crap whose fault was that?

Posted by: dante12 | October 12, 2008 4:02 PM | Report abuse

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Posted by: learnedhand1 | October 12, 2008 4:02 PM | Report abuse

Clock management?! Defense?! no.

Turnovers, ball mistakes (Kendall, Soup) and penalties.

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:02 PM | Report abuse

I hate the Saint Louis Rams.

Posted by: NateinthePDX | October 12, 2008 4:02 PM | Report abuse

That Kendall fumble early on is what cost us the game.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:02 PM | Report abuse

They should have called timeout the SECOND that play was over.

Posted by: dlhaze1 | October 12, 2008 4:03 PM | Report abuse

oh - and let's not forget - Punt game...

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:03 PM | Report abuse

They need to improve their special teams or bring in new punters and kickers.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:04 PM | Report abuse

We need some kind of freak turnover, or BLOCK THAT KICK!!!!

Posted by: dlhaze1 | October 12, 2008 4:04 PM | Report abuse

Check mate. Crap.

4-2.

The goal now becomes 7-2 at the bye.

Posted by: freakzilla | October 12, 2008 4:06 PM | Report abuse

lol - you TELL 'em Haze!

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:06 PM | Report abuse

OMG, what a STUPID STUPID PENALTY!!!!!!!! If they lsoe the game because of that, I wil laugh my ass off

Posted by: Thundershock | October 12, 2008 4:06 PM | Report abuse

Or a freak penalty! Man, theyve been calling that guy out all game. Way to go announcers!

Posted by: dlhaze1 | October 12, 2008 4:06 PM | Report abuse

Lol - espn gamecast says R. Incognito 100 yd. penalty. I wish!

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:07 PM | Report abuse

There's a reason they are 0-4.

Posted by: learnedhand1 | October 12, 2008 4:07 PM | Report abuse

Everybody with me:
NOOOOOOOONANNNN!!!!

Posted by: dlhaze1 | October 12, 2008 4:08 PM | Report abuse

Let us just watch the misery end finally.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:08 PM | Report abuse

why did we call a timeout... if there are really only 2 seconds left?

Posted by: dante12 | October 12, 2008 4:08 PM | Report abuse

this is too funny!

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:08 PM | Report abuse

Strike that 1-4.

Posted by: learnedhand1 | October 12, 2008 4:09 PM | Report abuse

ratz. Oh well. There's always next week.

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:09 PM | Report abuse

Wow. But they could still make this field goal.

The NFL play-by-play just updated. I'll pray as I check...

Nevermind. Damnit.

Posted by: patriotnumber18 | October 12, 2008 4:09 PM | Report abuse

I can't beleive we lost to that effin team. What a kick in the teeth. SJK! SJK! SJK! SJK!

Posted by: dlhaze1 | October 12, 2008 4:10 PM | Report abuse

Now we have to route for Arizona and SF. This is embarrassing but perhaps a loss like this was going to eventually come.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:10 PM | Report abuse

Let's go CARDINALS!!

Posted by: suzannepdc | October 12, 2008 4:10 PM | Report abuse

way to go knuckleheads. you just handed the game to a bunch who wont win another game this year. congrats. let's do it again next week.

Posted by: TheSuperhoo | October 12, 2008 4:11 PM | Report abuse

F Pete Kendall! You stupid F! Drop the ball! Kneel the Ball!! Stay away from the ball! You stupid ass Boston F'r!!

Posted by: skins1110 | October 12, 2008 4:11 PM | Report abuse

I guess we can't really blame Leigh Torrence for the whole loss, but damn, why wasn't Smoot in there?

Posted by: dlhaze1 | October 12, 2008 4:12 PM | Report abuse

Maybe Pete Kendall should have been covering. He has such a knack for finding the ball and such great hands!

Posted by: skins1110 | October 12, 2008 4:12 PM | Report abuse

Well, throw in turnovers plus poor field position and lousy special teams. Add no big plays and that's a prescription for a loss.

Unless your team is overwhelmingly superior to the opponent. Which, right now, the Skins' aren't.

They absolutely have to get special teams fixed.

Posted by: SteveMG | October 12, 2008 4:14 PM | Report abuse

The bright side behind this is that they will take CLE and DET more seriously. Pete Kendall is the reason why we lost this game. His fumble in the 2nd quarter cost us the game. Now we have to hope for both ARZ and SF to win their late games--or at least for ARZ to win. We also have to root for CLE on Monday night.

The worst part behind this is that they gave the game away. It's like they channeled the Redskins of old. I really also think that they need new punters and kickers. Their horrible kicks gave the Rams good field position.

There need to be swift recriminations at Redskin Park this upcoming week. But maybe this was the type of loss that they needed. But frankly this loss will force them to take future games more seriously. I don't know.

But this team gave this game away. Pete Kendall is the one who's responsible. Hopefully he will receive lots of extra help this upcoming week to not make that mistake again.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:14 PM | Report abuse

trrrrrrap game.

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:14 PM | Report abuse

Trap game my ass. It's called terrible fkn playing, terrible fkn idiot players screwing the game up.

We deserved the loss. They better pull their heads out of their asses, take games seriously, or just give up now so we can get a better draft pick.

RI is going to be ugly this week.

Posted by: learnedhand1 | October 12, 2008 4:16 PM | Report abuse

"On any given Sunday..."

The Skins just came out flat, turned the ball over and couldn't recover. Turnovers killed them. Now they go into the Cleveland game at 4-2 instead of 5-1. Maybe the Skins will be a team that plays to the level of their competition instead of putting teams away. We'll see.

Posted by: JinxMan | October 12, 2008 4:16 PM | Report abuse

That's ridiculous, jiacinto.

No one player is responsible here. There are major screwups all the way around.

And maybe it's time we stopped drinking the coolade, eh?

Posted by: DikShuttle | October 12, 2008 4:16 PM | Report abuse

On the bright side, at Arizona, the Cardinals have run the opening kickoff for a TD.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:16 PM | Report abuse

cards just scored on the kickoff!!!

Posted by: suzannepdc | October 12, 2008 4:17 PM | Report abuse

Can somebody walk me through the Pete Kendall fumble?

Posted by: NateinthePDX | October 12, 2008 4:17 PM | Report abuse

Cards scored on opening KO.

Posted by: learnedhand1 | October 12, 2008 4:17 PM | Report abuse

This is one is on Pete Kendall! He had one more catch than Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, and Fred Davis combined! And one more fumble...

Posted by: skins1110 | October 12, 2008 4:17 PM | Report abuse

F Pete Kendall! You stupid F! Drop the ball! Kneel the Ball!! Stay away from the ball! You stupid ass Boston F'r!!

Posted by: skins1110 | October 12, 2008 4:11 PM

Shut up, you moron. No wonder players go for the money with fans like you.

Without guys like Kendall, this team would NOT have been 4-1 coming into the game.

Posted by: TheCork | October 12, 2008 4:17 PM | Report abuse

It is totally Pete Kendall's fault. His fumble gave the Rams a TD that resulted in their win. I put the blame squarely with him. While other players, especially the kicker and punter, screwed up, that fumble on Pete Kendall's part is the difference between victory and defeat.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:18 PM | Report abuse

Jansen is a liability. Does Vinny plan on hosting his uber-informative radio segment tomorrow, or do believe he understands punters don't hire themselves??!!

Posted by: tony11 | October 12, 2008 4:19 PM | Report abuse

Anyone remember how last week most on here were giddy and even talking 7-1???

I warned on Sunday after the game, forget that stuff and take it one game at a time!

To be home and lose to the winless Rams is shameful!

I didnt say he had not played well before. Just that his fumble cost the game. Shove a cork up your ass

Posted by: skins1110 | October 12, 2008 4:19 PM | Report abuse

I'm sorry, did we watch the same game? Because I say that there's a lot of blame to pass along - CC fumbled,Torrence got burned on a 33 yd reception at the end of the game, etc. Everyone on the team played at less than 100% - putting it all on Kendall is stupid.

Posted by: suzannepdc | October 12, 2008 4:20 PM | Report abuse

jiacinto, this loss is not all on Kendall.....how about Leigh Torrence allowing catch at the end? Lots of blame to go around today....LOTS....

Posted by: Lisa_R | October 12, 2008 4:20 PM | Report abuse

The Redskins lost this game because they fell into the trap they started to believe their own press. they didn't take the Rams seriously & it was reflected in their play too many turnovers & drive killing penaltys. they should be embarrassed to loose this game

Posted by: KillinTyme05 | October 12, 2008 4:21 PM | Report abuse

It had to happen, we have been sooooo close now for all four wins, but why the Rams?

No one person lost it. However, if Brooks still has a job come Monday then there is no justice.

Posted by: driley | October 12, 2008 4:21 PM | Report abuse

Yeah, okay, so this team has seen what can happen -- everything possible went wrong, and we lost to a bad team on a last-second FG.

Two very close losses are nothing to panic about, given how good we looked in the four wins that came in between. But they absolutely do need to focus on this next game and win it solidly.

(Also, I think we can stop worrying about being overrated for the rest of the season.)

Posted by: NateinthePDX | October 12, 2008 4:21 PM | Report abuse

Kendall should have known better than to catch the ball much less advance it. OL are taught to bat the ball down in that situation.

Posted by: learnedhand1 | October 12, 2008 4:21 PM | Report abuse

And I am sure Pete Kendall will read that comment and decide to play some where else for the money! Well dude, get your head and that cork out of your ass! The players do not give a F about what we think.

Posted by: skins1110 | October 12, 2008 4:22 PM | Report abuse

Sure rip kendall. He caught more balls than the entire redskin draft class, plus defensive backfield which reverted to form and could not hold on to an interception.

Here's what's a disgrace. Draft three receivers in the 2nd round and the Redskins can't go four wide to trump the three remaining CBs the Rams hah left, because none of them is smart enough ready enough or healthy enough to play worth a damn.

Posted by: TheCork | October 12, 2008 4:23 PM | Report abuse

It's a team loss but ST was a big problem today and pass protection was spotty - led to TOs, including Kendall's.

Posted by: learnedhand1 | October 12, 2008 4:24 PM | Report abuse

Agreed.

How did our WR do so badly in this game? Not torching a defense with essentially no corners is playing badly. What happened mentally to this team is my question. Unless they all decided to have a bad game at once so it won't happen again this season, lol.

Posted by: JesusFreakKaren | October 12, 2008 4:27 PM | Report abuse

First of all, while the loss stings, I wouldn't act like it was the end of the world either.

Several takeaways--no pun intended:

1. The team let their first four wins get to their head. They assumed that they would win this game without a problem. STL has brought them back to the ground.

2. They turned over the ball too much. The Kendall fumble was probably a freak accident, although I still blame him for the loss. He should have just laid on the ground. The result was the difference between victory and defeat. In the coming week it might make sense for Zorn and the O-Line coach to help Kendall out and provide him with extra coaching to improve his skills.

3. The special teams are a disaster. Suisham and the punter are horrible. I'm not a football expert by far, but I think that Zorn's special teams coach probably should consider providing them both with extra coaching and help this upcoming week. Or they should start looking for replacements. I'm not sure what the best course of action (COA) is. However, whatever COA they choose, they need to get on it.

4. The Rams, Lions, and Browns can win games. Each of them is bound to get a win at some point. It just happened that the Rams got their first win against Washington. The Rams's Offensive Coordinator is Al Saunders, so he knew how to beat WAS. That being said, though, WAS should use this game as evidence to take CLE, DET, and CIN seriously. I've seen CIN play NYG and DAL. In both games they were able to hold their own until miscues kept them from winning. DET is just pathetic but they should be able to beat HOU, although they might be winless when WAS comes to see them. CLE is playing NYG tomorrow night.

5. Even though they lost the WAS offense was able to be productive even though they turned the ball over three times. Portis ran for more than 100 yards. The receivers did catch the balls more often than not. But the turnovers are what cost them.

The loss stings a lot, and it is humiliating. But I wouldn't act like it was the end of the world either. This upcoming week should tell us whether Zorn can make the adjustments to get the team past this loss.

Pete kendall blah blah blah, you lost to the worst team in the league, surprise your september trophy is on the way, back to reality!!!

Posted by: Dfan | October 12, 2008 4:29 PM | Report abuse

I do blame Kendall because he should have laid on the ground and not given up it to the Rams. He's not a running back. He should have known better. He made a rookie mistake.

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:29 PM | Report abuse

Whenever you lose at home to arguably the worst team in the league, by definition it can't be one person. That's simplistic in the extreme.

Posted by: messykat | October 12, 2008 4:29 PM | Report abuse

DAL is playing horrible at ARZ so far, so this loss might not be as bad as it could be. Any word on SF/PHL?

Posted by: jiacinto | October 12, 2008 4:35 PM | Report abuse

Wow. Two minutes into the game and the refs have already blown a whistle too soon, negating a Romo fumble.

I cannot believe the bias among these officials. I see all Cowboy games, and it's beyond belief.

Posted by: messykat | October 12, 2008 4:39 PM | Report abuse

This is the roller coaster...it has wilder swings that I imagined.

We may see Miami in the playoffs the way this season is going.
