Landry Joined by Louisiana Family (Update 1)

Because of Hurricane Gustav, many of safety LaRon Landry's family members are staying with him in Virginia and at the Baltimore home of his brother, Dawan, a Ravens safety.

"A lot of my family and my relatives are at my house right now," Landry told Jason Reid. "Some came in late Thursday night, some came Friday."

Landry, who attended high school in Ama, La., has received updates from his family about Hurricane Gustav, which today hit the Louisiana coast. In an attempt to avoid the disaster that occurred when Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast in 2005, citizens were encouraged to leave southern Louisiana before Gustav hit.

Close to 20 family members are "split between me and my brother's place," Landry said. "It is kind of a hassle. You come home straight from work, and then you've got to study, then deal with your family. It's kind of hard."
...
The team is on the practice field; players are in full pads. Jason Taylor is in shorts and won't be practicing. Kareem Moore and Malcolm Kelly are not in pads.

Obviously, Landry is concerned about the situation in Louisiana, but he is "really focused on the task at hand, and that's playing football, and winning against the Giants," he said. "When I go home, I deal with that. But when I come here, it's time to work."

Landry, who sat out the preseason because of a hamstring injury, returned to practice last week and expects to start the season opener Thursday against the Giants at Giants Stadium.

"I feel great," he said. Hopefully, I come out there and make up for what I lost those five weeks in training camp [and the preseason]. I'm not thinking about anything negative. I'm just pressing forward."

I did not succumb. I deferred.

Much like the front offices of so many teams I will re-asses as the season goes on.

"Professor Zeese, is there any way I can raise my grade? Shouldn't I get partial credit on question #6? Can I do some extra credit work? What things should I emphasize in studying for the next exam? What if my girlfriend comes by your office this afternoon?"

Great, now La-La-Land-ry is hamstrung by all in the family obligations.

Does it ever end?

TE I have seen your girlfriend, you would have to give me extra credit. Snip-Snap.

I'm just glad you haven't seen my wife. Okay, I'll send my girlfriend's hot roommate. It'll cost me $750, but I think you'll be pleased.

You could just send me $750

Whoa! Did you notice "Update 1"? Somebody up here suggested that only last week and Cindy's already acted on it.

When are we acting on my suggestion? "Bloggers receive $.35 for each word of each post"? Huh? Did this one "fall between the cracks" Cindy?

And, for Greg, he says he's not asking for cash -- he'll take bonus points.

Who do you want back? Keenan McCardell? Reche Caldwell? Brandon Lloyd?
Posted by: talent evaluator | September 1, 2008 1:37 PM

Oh, let's see... how about Billy McMullen?

I already did and look what it got me. Nada. I'm sending the chick, and she's bringing me back something of yours if the grade isn't changed.

The prevailing theory is that he's coming back next week. If we sign him next week we don't have to guarantee his salary for the season. It's only a theory.

Who will be the first person replaced on the roster? I think it will be a DL myself.
