Landry's Always on the Clock
"It's my time all the time," says safety LaRon Landry.
While that might not help explain Landry's 2009 expectations, at the very least, if anyone isn't sure what time it is, Landry is a good one to ask. On the field Landry wears a digital watch on his right wrist. Not because he cares about the exact time, mind you; he just appreciates a good metaphorical reminder.
"Every time I hit the field, it's my time to shine," he explained.
Landry has been wearing a wristwatch during practices and games since college, he says. Though he recently had to replace the band, the watch face itself hasn't suffered any major injuries.
The metaphor, er, symbol, er, wristwatch doesn't really serve much functional purpose during practice, the third-year safety says he does usually have it set in timer mode.
"I set an alarm every five minutes," says Landry, who's rarely short on personality. "So if we're on the field for at least five minutes, when it's starts beeping, I know that it's time to go."

Home is Colorado Springs for a week and half more... I'm heading back to the burg to finish my Masters.

Only he make about $3K and hour unlike the rest of us slobs.
I seriously hope he has a good year Im stuck living in Norther Jersey and I have to hear about Kenny Phillips and the Giants D all the time.
We need to converge on the Meadowlands on Sept 13th! Im tired of getting heckled alone!

The guy will get--and deserves--a heck of a payday when his rookie deal is up.

Redskins rookie DE Jeremy Jarmon has run around OL Mike Williams on two occasions. Williams could barely get a hand on Jarmon.

Altough we are rooting for the dude to succeed for sentimental reasons we have to be realistic. When you have been away from the game for the time he has, you lose a lot of the high twitch muscle fiber synapse action that you need to play the game full tilt and it is often not easy to recover it. It will be a headache for Michael Vick if any NFL team is going to sign him, which is getting unliklier by the hour as all camps are up and running and nothing has happened.

Excellent point.
And you have to wonder about the thinking process in the redskins' FO when it chooses to give a shot to Williams--nothing against him, mind you--and not a young drafted tackle.
You have to hope that Williams becomes a suitiable back up early on in the season.
That'll give him additional time in practice to get his game together or decide if the attempted comeback is worth effort.

I want him to succeed for run blocking and QB protecting reasons. The weight loss is a nice story, but if he doesn't cut it, we'll forget that story pretty quick.

Now that's a different approach. Most DBs in the league wait until they've stopped the offense -- this guy works by the clock like the rest of us slobs. He probably asks for overtime if he works past five -- like the rest of us slobs.
