LaVarGate 2 - Electric Boogaloo
I got a handful of emails today about LaVar possibly coming back to DC. Gotta say, this would be the ultimate longshot to me. I am still waiting to hear back from a mutual friend I have with LaVar, but regardless of his thoughts I don't see this happening for myriad reasons.
The Skins don't do business with the Postons - even on vet. minimum contracts it seems - and I can't see LaVar wanting to come back here. After the clashes between him and the coaches and training staff and the owner, again, can't see it. It goes way deeper than just Dale Lindsey as well - although he was a central figure in LaVarGate - and I can't see The Snyder bringing him back.
Then there are the health issues as well. And you have to wonder about LaVar coming back here to be the No. 5 LB, even if he was scrounging for a job.
Again, I would be stunned. Nevertheless, Howard and I will sniff around in the weeks and months to come, but, LaVar Lovers, I wouldn't bank on it. As for me, I'm all for it, because I had a blast shooting the bull with the dude and he was a killer quote, but I can't see it happening.
Randoms: Chatted with Mark Brunell for a few minutes today. Will write a short brief about it in the Wed. paper, but basically he said he still has some hope that he could get a chance to compete for a starting job someplace, but knows it will be tough. Barring that, he says DC is the only place he wants to back-up and he hopes his agents can work out a new deal with the Skins in the next few weeks. He figures the process could be resolved in a fortnight or so (some Olde English for y'all) ... From what I have heard, Skins have not approached Daniels or Wynn about a restructuring to this point. Not entirely sure what to make of that, although my gut reaction is that it might not bode well for them surviving March cuts. Again, just a guess there.
