LB Rob Jackson to join active roster

By Jason Reid

The Redskins are expected to promote linebacker Rob Jackson to fill an opening on the active 53-man roster, a person familiar with the situation said Monday.

Defensive lineman Phillip Daniels (abdomen injury) will miss the final two games of the season. He was assigned to the season-ending injured reserve. Washington selected Jackson in the seventh round (242 overall) of the 2008 NFL draft.

Formerly a defensive end, Jackson played in three games during his rookie season and five games last season. He has been a member of the practice squad for the entire 2010 season.

For all the Shanahan haters out there, this should tell you a little something about the organization he's trying to fix.

I would like to identify myself as a Shanahan skeptic. He hasn't proven himself in B&G at all, and frankly didn't prove much in his last few years in Mile High. So far, he's achieved Zorn-like results on the field.

I'll give him next year to win more than 6 games, before I become a hater. And I'll say he's worse than Zorn if he gets less, because he's not being hamstrung by Vinny like Zorn was.

I hate hate hate our Dline. This will continue to be a major problem for YEARS to come.

So let me get this straight, Grossman plays ok in the fourth quarter (Not the 1st, 2nd & 3rd) and now there are folks claiming a victory and Shanahan was right!?!?
WE LOST THE GAME.
Rex did good against a prevent D. But come'on with the propoganda about how Shanahan proved everyone wrong. If my Skins won, he would have proved everyone wrong. Until then an L is still an L....

Oh, please Alan, he is being hamstrung by MS the GM. Same difference!

But in all seriousness, you may have to make room for a bunch of us if he continues to make the same types of mistakes he made this season.

LB Rob Jackson to join active roster

Kirk: Our roster?

Spock: Yes, Captain Kirk.

Kirk: Our roster has been active?

Spock: It has been for various times this past inglorious season.

But my tri-corder readings suggest that sometime soon, the Klingon Shanahan will press a 'destruct' bottom and blow it to pieces.

And from where I sit, that's a very logical thing to do.

Rob F___g Jackson? That's the best you got? Let's hope he looks better than he did in the preseason. I will say the linebacker play against Dallas was sucky, so I understand the activation... but Rob F___g Jackson???

One massive stud of a DT, through the draft or FA, could change that picture in a big hurry. Imagine a guy who gets real push in the interior and elevates the play of the guys around him, without the whiny prima donna distractions and self importance.

I'd like to see them get that from the draft though, rather than overpay for a guy with more mileage like Ngata.

Jackson is in the Grossman role ... needs to show something to keep his job ... can't be a draft pick and wait around on the practice squad forever.

Beeps.
