Maake Kemoeatu takes it easy after heat exhaustion
A day after battling heat exhaustion, starting nose tackle Maake Kemoeatu sat out practice Wednesday at Redskins Park.
"It was just the heat, man, it was just hot," Kemoeatu said. "They gave me a break today to get ready for Friday."
The Redskins kick off their preseason schedule Friday night against the Buffalo Bills at FedEx Field. Kemoeatu expects to be in the opening lineup.
"Oh, yeah, man," he said. "That's what I've been working for."
Kemoeatu, who sat out the 2009 season because of an achilles injury, impressed team officials with his tireless work ethic while he rehabbed at the complex for most of the offseason. Ray Wright, Washington's strength and conditioning coach, went to Hawaii before training camp to continue to help Kemoeatu prepare for the season.
Although Kemoeatu, beginning his ninth season, has worked in heat often in his career, the last two days in Ashburn have been especially difficult.
"Man, it's even hotter now with the helmet and the pads," he said. "It's not just the temperature. I was feeling it a lot. Especially yesterday."
Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has praised Kemoeatu since the former Carolina Panther signed with team in March. "The kid's been fighting through it," Haslett said. "The guy missed all last year with the torn achilles. He hasn't has a day off. He's fought through it.
"He didn't want a day off. I asked him. He said, 'I don't need a day off. I need to get through this.' Cause once you get back, you're wearing helmets, shoulder pads, guys hitting. I think he's done a great job. He's a lot faster than I remember and he's a lot quicker than I remember. He's a big man in the middle."

Maybe Kemo should get on the Haynesworth conditioning program.

"MistaMoe Rogers has been playing FS. I think the DBs will end up having 11 on the active roster w/ both Westbrook and Holmes playing primarily on teams."
So CR playing over the slot, starting at corner, and learning to be a back up safety?
Whereas I like the idea of using a cover corner as FS, I look at an untested 3rd rounder in Barnes, and wonder why not train him up as a versitile d-back: safety/corner.

Carlos Rogers drops more balls than Gianna Michaels, Sasha Grey, and Jenna Jameson combined.

Has anyone heard if AH passed his conditioning test yet?
Posted by: PlayAction | August 11, 2010 3:49 PM | Report abuse
I think AH actually ate his conditioning test.
Now whether or not he's actually "passed" what he ate is another story.

I think Haslett has plans for CR22. He is the only corner that he trust to use his physicality, cant blame him after watching d.halls attempt at slowing people down with his body.

Haslett said it was because he didn't eat breakfast or lunch and he wasn't drinking enough water.
He doesn't need the conditioning test, he needs a class on how to take care of your body.

One of things I'm looking forward to this season: Bamas showing groupie-type love to Haynesworth and Rogers.

Carlos Rogers is very talented and can play lights out when his head is right.
His problem is mental toughness. He doesn't play well with a bruised ego.
Haslett has been pumping him up all off season and Rogers is responding by raising his level of play.
Not to mention that Double move is playing for a contract this season.
As long a he thinks he's the man and that he's going to get paid next year, Rogers will be a stud.
The true test of his mettle will come if and when there is a perceived threat to his status as the man (for example if K Barnes continues to improve and starts taking playing time away from him).

Not at all. It's just that a lot of posters are so extreme with their positions (one might say hysterical) that when the guys they have been hating on play well this year its going to be like a Justin Beiber/Jonas Brothers concert in a stadium filled with tween girls up here.

yes, lh, if I compliment Hands of Stone when/if he does something good this year, after 5 years of mediocre to poor play, that means I'm a groupie of his....right...

Heat exhaustion? For a dude from Hawaii?
Y'all have a team full of fat slobs with soft, ever-expanding bellies! If they're not gasping for air, they're reaching for the water bottles (or biscuits 'n gravy). Come to think of it, you don't have one player on your entire defensive line who could play for the Cowboys. And please don't mention that sloth Haynesgirth. He's semi-retired from what I hear.
Pathethic pretenders.
And one more thing. Don't flatter yourself: I am not nor will I ever be a Deadskins fan. I honestly think your cheerleaders might be better football players than the tubs of goo y'all routinely roll out on the field. One thing is for sure, the cheerleaders are every bit as beefy as the players. Again, to each his own.
Be sure and fumigate UPS Stadium before my 'Boys get to town. We're not bringing anything back to Texas except a 'W'.
Peace.
