Mason Joins Jets

Marcus Mason, former Redskin preseason sensation and Georgetown Prep grad, was signed off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad yesterday by the New York Jets.

Mason, who drove from Baltimore to Long Island yesterday, has joined the Jets as their third-string running back and expects to be active for his first NFL game this weekend. He might wind up playing only special teams as he tries to become acclimated with their playbook, but is very excited to be in New York.

The Jets nearly signed him two weeks ago and watched him closely when he was on the Redskins practice squad last season. Mason is hopeful that his stay with the Jets will be for more than just a few weeks.

Meanwhile, quarterback Sam Hollenbach (Maryland) worked out for the Ravens for a second time yesterday but has yet to be signed, according to a source. Their third-string quarterback is journeyman Todd Bauman.

They are 2 behind us against the run and 6 better than us against the pass, they have one more takeaway than us, and 2 less giveaways, overall they have given up 30 less points than we have, and 325 less yards, they have 26 sacks to our 10, 8 interceptions to our 5, and 1 fumble recovery to our 3. Mind you they have already had their bye so their yardage is lower then it should be but we have had an extra game for sacks takeaways.

Good for Mason. Hopefully he'll have great success in the league as long as it's not against us.

4th, I was actually seconding your assertion that it would be bogus to reward the MVP to a guy who had a statistically eye-popping/record-breaking/all-time-greatest season on a mediocre team instead of a guy who had a statistically great season on a successful team.

I was trying to point out the absurdity of the opposite argument...

"No need to apologize for being 6-2" London Fletcher on the Jim Rome show.

" We're a good football team, that has a long way to go before we're a great football team. We have to play better, can't make the mistakes as we get into the second half of the season, especially in the late stretch run of trying to make it to the playoffs and beat the better teams. If we continue to make the make the mistakes that we've made, we will be upset with ourselves.

Also spoke some about Zorn...

oh crap, poolman - most white males that I know of in the D.C. area are voting for Senator Obama - and how on earth do you think he's polling with such high numbers in Northern Virgina, if he's not pulling some white voters?

I don't know what you are basing your premise on - there are those that, in fact, won't vote for Senator Obama because he is a black man, I know that, you know that, everyone knows that.

But, if white people did NOT vote for Senator Obama, he wouldn't have won the nomination. It's a silly question you ask.

Poolman,

Your remark implies that white men are too stupid to vote for the better man -- that they're governed by racism and bigotry. As a white man, I resent your vile attempts to bring down my race.

Brees is the MVP of one of my fantasy teams, we are 7-1....so no complaints there!

I agree with you 4th, but I do love Brees as a QB....dude can ball. there record aint his fault, unless you mean the wins...

But Portis MVP def!

You mean swap Cartwright for Mason? LOL Don't think so... the Skins already cut him twice, because he's not refined enough to contribute on special teams and in pass blocking.

Well I actually meant Alexander for Mason. Anyway, I still contend that Mason wasn't cut for any reason other than we had 2 proven studs at RB, a proven stud team leader and special teamer, and too many questions at other positions to keep 4 RBs on the roster.

Redskins 15-1 in choosing the President!

Redskins vs Steelers is their last home game before the election.

Will it happen this year?

So as legend would have it...

Redskins Win = Incumbent Party Victory

Redskin Loss = Non-Incumbent Party Victory

2004 was the first time they got it wrong but I challenge that in that particular game the 'Skins were robbed by the refs(who were clearly liberal trial lawyers with a political agenda to dupe the voters with a Redskin loss) :-)

---ESPN Game summary from 2004 game

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- Clinton Portis celebrated the apparent winning touchdown with a leap into the end zone, capping a 43-yard reception that gave the Redskins a one-point lead with 2:35 to play.

Oops. Scratch that. Flag on the play.

Receiver James Thrash was whistled for illegal motion, a call Thrash didn't understand and one that Washington coach Joe Gibbs called "an absolute mystery."

roge, your joints are the ish...

1) "I Sick of this S**T Every Night"- Forgot his name but the manager of the Cubs---His name is Hal McRae... Best. Rant. Ever. Him throwing the phone is straight priceless.
"No sh*t from you, no sh*t from you... now put that in your F'n pipe and smoke it".--LMAO

2) "They Are Who We Thought They Were"- Dennis Green--He was so calm when he started to answer the question... "Who comes out and play the third preseason game like it's bullsh*t, bullsh*t. We played three quarters, everybody played three quarters, THE BEARS..."

3) "We Talkin Bout' Practice"- Allen Iverson-- A.I. wasn't ranting to try and make a point like most coaches do. He was really baffled about the media's attention to his practice habits... "How the hell me practicing goin' make my teammates better?"

4) "Playoffs?....Playoffs"- Jim Mora--His stammer before uttering "Playoffs" is what maskes this so damn funny to me. "What was that? Ah, ah, playoffs?"

5) "You Play to Win the Game"- Herm Edwards--Herm had a look on his face like he couldn't believe that questions was asked... "When you tell me it don't matter no more, get out. Retire."

6) "I'll Kill You"- John Cheyney--To me John Calipari makes this rant funny. I think John Chaney is at least 15-20 years his senior. But you couldn't tell me that Chaney wouldn't have beat his @ss. "You son of a b*tch, I kill you."

7) "Larry Bird Ain't Walkin Through That Door...Kevin McCale ain't walkin through that door"...Rick Pitino-- While funny also, I'd rank this one last because it looks like Rick Pitino was crying out for support from the fans. "The negativity in this town sucks."

Keep it up, roge.

I likes Zorn, I think he's going to be around for awhile. I don't think his so-called rant is being close to such. Mike Singletary's rant is the best since Dennis Green. "... Cannot play with them, cannot win with them, cannot coach with them. Can't do it."

I guess it just isn't feasible.

WINSTON-SALEM N.C. -- Golfer John Daly was taken into custody Sunday morning by Winston-Salem police after he was found drunk outside an area Hooters restaurant.

Police said in a statement Wednesday that said officers went to the restaurant on a medical call. When they arrived, Daly was being treated by emergency workers after losing consciousness.

While at the restaurant, police said Daly "appeared extremely intoxicated and uncooperative," refused repeatedly to be taken to the hospital and was asked to leave the restaurant by several workers.

Daly was taken to the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center for a 24-hour stay, until he was sober.

Are you guys familiar with Accuscore? Very interesting.

The combination of Ben Roethlisberger taking a ton of sacks and the Giants defense leading the league in sacks come to head in the Steelers collapsing against the Giants. They are forecasted to bounce back this week with a big upset win largely because the Redskins defense has just 10 sacks in 8 games this year. There is only a 43 percent chance the Redskins sack Ben 3 or more times. If they do, the Redskins do win nearly 60 percent of simulations. There is a 50 percent chance than Jason Campbell throws his first interception. If he has no interceptions the Redskins win 57 percent of the time according to the Custom Game Simulator. It will not be easy, but Clinton Portis has a 40 percent chance of another 100 yard rushing game and the Redskins win over 70 percent of these simulations.

So glad the WS is over, congrats to the Phillys and their fans, but I'm glad it's over. It bugs every year when we have to give up a Sunday Night game for it and makes me that much happier when its over.

The Steelers are gonna bring a big time fight, they don't want to lose a second in a row, their defense is gonna feel challenged to stop Portis, pick of JC, show they beat an NFC East team, prove that our pass rush really does suck, and ruin our entry into the bye week.

Big Ben not practicing is a huge story, HUGE. The Giants beat him up pretty good, I'm hoping that Blache reviews the Philly/Pitt game tape, they got him 8 times...

Oh and Marcus Mason=power rankings...
