Meeks and Caldwell

The Redskins planned to speak with Gregg Williams for upwards of 12 hours Monday, league sources said, in a formal interview after previous meetings between the coach and front office/ownership.

Dan Snyder has told other people invovled in this process that his first meeting is usuaully to get to know a guy, see if he can work with him -- at least that's what he told Jim Schwartz according to a source. From what I gather, the meeting with Williams over the weekend was more laid-back. According to a source close to Schwartz, there would be multiple interviews if someone got close to the position.

With Ron Meeks and Jim Caldwell -- two established coordinators with the Indianapolis Colts - now are on the market, the schedule could change. TInterviewing one of them would put the Redskins in compliance with the Rooney Rule, which requires NFL teams to interview at least one minority candidate when filling head-coaching positions.

Either way the Redskins have told candidates this should be swift process. My gut is it's wrapped up by the end of the week. Just my hunch for now.
