No Plans to Replace S. Alexander

Jim Zorn said the team has no immediate plans to re-sign a running back after releasing Shaun Alexander earlier in the week. The Redskins signed DT Ryan Boschetti to bolster an injury-plagued defensive line, and I asked Zorn if he had plans to re-sign Alexander or another back should the D line hold up well and get healthier next week.

The situation with Clinton's Portis's health remains a concern, with him unable to practice most weeks, but reserve tailback Ladell Betts is getting healthier after his stint out with a knee injury. Betts "is starting to get his acceleration back," Zorn said, and is making cuts more like normal. Should he lose a running back, or should one of them suffer a setback, Zorn said he would look at signing a reserve, but barring that he seems okay with the way the roster is constituted right now.

With two divisional teams playing today, I wondered if this would be a big football-watching Thanksgiving at the Zorn household. He said the TV will be on, but the focus will be on family. Zorn and his 13-year-old son will be taking turns trying to get each other to "tap out," practicing their favorite wrestling moves. "He wants to get after it," Zorn said.

They will throw around the football and the lacrosse ball as well, and Zorn said he will also make sure all of his time is not monopolized by sports, taking time out for his daughters as well.

The cynic in me says NO WAY the NFL will give away Dallas's second bye week, and the advantage it gives them every year.

Remembr, they are AMERICA'S Team and deserve every advantage.

Need your career criminal PacMan back--you got it.

Need the 'skins put in a hole early with three away NFC East games in first five--you got it. (Sorry it backfired).

Need that ten days off after T-giving? You got it.

Need a patsy opponent to come to Dallas? You got it!

It's Dallas's World, the rest of the NFL just plays in it.

As a woman who still plays sports with her dad, I'm offended that Zorn's girls don't join in with the football and lacrosse!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone :)

I feel badly for Detroit - especially their coach. Does anyone agree with me?

Posted by: Lisa_R | November 27, 2008 2:52 PM | Report abuse

I feel more for their fans than anything else Lisa. To even still be a fan says a lot about them.

Cindy, is someone bringing you turkey and all the fixins'? (apologies should be vegan/vegetarian).

Let's give another shoutout to Cindy; working for the man on Turkey Day!

@Ali: My dad loves sports and my sisters have spent the last 20+ years saying no to sports other than cheerleading. Boys = girls; not everyone loves sports the way you, me and the rest of RI nation does.

JLC: Bro, you've been taking some flak. A little from me, more from others. That said, happy holidays brother. Keep bringing me your OPINION (people, its a blog.. opinions are cool here, facts are awesome too, but opinions are why blogs exist).

Go Seahawks, beat the Cowgirls.

R.I.P. ST21; HTTR!

Everyone in RI Nation: Thank you for your opinions, especially the ones I disagree with. Open discussion makes everything better.

Enjoy your families, friends, and the holidays in general. Should I be sober later, I'll post again. If not, enjoy yourselves everyone!

They need to bring 21's casket to cover on punts on Sunday. Talk about a real coffin-corner kick...

Looks like Detroit is going to go 0-16 this season. Their final games are against MN, Indy, NO, and Green Bay.

Ok, I just lost all respect for Jeff Fisher. Why challenge that catch? For starters, Johnson made the catch. The Titans have won the game anyway.

Reminds me a little of our debacle at the Patriots last season.

70chip: Really, that was necessary, today of all days? go home bro, go home....
