Final Post on Big Ben, Promise

Wanted to follow up on this one last time, because I really do think it could be the key factor in the game. Ben Roethlisberger has the size and ability to overcome a shaky offensive line and win this game with his arm. And the Redskins know it.

They have watched film of teams like Baltimore and Cleveland try to knock his head off, only to be burned downfield, and the coaches are preaching sound fundamentals. You can't get too jacked up (as young guys like Horton and Landry sometimes do when being called on to blitz), overshoot and leave your feet trying to crush the QB, and get away with it against this dude.

I think that defensive tackles Cornelius Griffin and Kedric Golston are going to be essential to containing the passer and keeping him from stepping up into his throws. So what do you do when you get No. 7 in your sights?

"He has a knack for extending the play and you've got to take your hat off to him," Golston said. "That's how he makes big plays down the field. For us, we've got to really try to wrap his arms up when we hit him, and not really try to go for the kill shot. We've got to try to get up under his arms and hold him up and allow other people to come to get him down.

"He's 6-5, 240. He's a real big guy, real strong. Strong arm. If you just run in there and don't wrap him up, you'll bounce off of him. He kind of waits for the hit, and braces for it. It's kind of like, he's prepared for the hit and keeps his eyes downfield and makes plays."

I don't get why some of you can't admit that teams/players we face might actually be good? Its not insulting to the skins to look analytically at an opponents strengths/weaknesses and match them to ours.

Big Ben is beast, who presents a lot of problems. Then when we beat the snot out of him it makes it so much sweeter. Brees is the best QB in the league and we tamed his azz. That doesn't mean he sucks, it means we met him on the field of battle and were victorious...

I swear some of you guys get offended/upset/confused by the lamest stuff....like some one insulted your Webkinz or something...

I mean with all this talk of "positivity" and "no negativity" did you all just read The Secret or something.

Okay, Big Ben, pretend like you're back on your motorcycle... Okay, Skins D-line, pretend you are that bridge abutment he ran into.

Lol. Jasno, like most Baltimorons, worships the false god of pittsburgh football.

I'm not saying they can't come down here and win. That could happen with any team (except Detroit). But they are vastly overrated, especially on defense, from getting to play six games every year against Baltimore, Cleveland, and Cincinnati offenses that are usually terrible. This year's Skins would easily be 13+ win team in the AFC North.

I agree with LiberalMike on the overrated thing. They got outplayed by the Ravens and thoroughly dominated by the Giants and somehow managed to win those games. Our close wins should have been by more; their close wins should have been losses.

With how beat up our team looks and considering what a physical oppenent Pittsburgh is this will be the hardest game we have played yet. People were talking about how we would have to raise the level of physicality in the Dal and Philly games. Well this game will be the one that is decidedly won up front in the trenches. We have the advantage in the RB department, you really cant say what willie will do after an absence like this.

Really hope to see their punter out there as well, there using a long snapper that has more sacks then snaps in his carrear, very unusual.

The way I look at the Big Ben situation is this:

Is he a better passer than Brees or Warner or McNabb or Romo or Manning? No, he isn't better.

So, why would he be able to beat our secondary consistently when none of the above have this season? Aside from being hard to tackle (which shouldn't make a difference since the Skins rarely touch the QB anyway), what does he possess that those other QBs don't?

Nothing. He'll be throwing against the same stingy secondary that all of the other QBs that have faced the Redskins this year have had to deal with.

Deny. It is unlikly Lebron stays in Cleveland because...well, it's Cleveland. He wants to win championships and won't likely do that in Cleveland.

The rumor I have heard is that Lebron ends up with the NJ Nets based on his friendship with Jay-Z who is a part owner in the Nets. Makes sense since Vince Carter will be retired by then.

The Bobcats are more of a disaster with MJ than the Wizards were.

I'd like to hear again how Blatche is the best quote in the building. It's been about 24 hours since JLC mentioned it.
