New Orleans Wrap-Up

Wanted to let you guys know that Scott Zakheim will have an essay about the volunteer trip to N'Orleans in the Saturday edition of The Post. I know a lot of you guys are out of town and won't see the dead fish editions of the paper, so wanted to post it here as well to give credit where it is due. Those guys are the best. Here's how it will look in print:

Scott Zakheim is reader of the Redskins Insider blog written by Jason LaCanfora for Washington Post.com. He and other readers of the blog, who met in the chat room section that accompanies Jason's entries, decided to be more than visiting team fans at the Redskins game against the New Orleans Saints. They went down early and helped in post-Katrina cleanup efforts. He wrote this report:
I am in a special category of fans that cannot compartmentalize sports and reality. The equation is simple: a victorious Sunday equals a gratifying week, while defeat means a stupor that is only salvaged by the hope of next week's game. While I acknowledge my skewed sense of priorities, I cannot shed the trait that strikes fear in those closest to me: The Redskins are my life.
Yet as I sat at the Louisiana Superdome last Sunday, I found myself in an altered mental state: this Sunday was different.
The Saints are different. New Orleans is different.
After spending three days building and gutting homes in the greater New Orleans area with four other Redskins fans, my perspective changed. We traveled to see our team play, but more importantly, we traveled to witness devastation in the wake of our nation's greatest disaster, to comprehend the tragic reality of one of America's greatest cities, and to pick up the pieces for residents who still reel in Katrina's aftermath.
New Orleans is a disaster zone that needs help. In three days, our group made a tiny dent in the recovery efforts. Communities remain untouched, with houses completely demolished or left in ruins, and no signs of life for miles. The city's population has dipped by 40 percent, and experts predict it could shrink another 30 percent within the year.
But there is hope. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Americorps and Habitat volunteers, who have spent months leading the reconstruction, communities are beginning to re-form. This arduous process will only continue if the nation remembers what took place there, and if outsiders continue to help.
And then there are the Saints.
Not until I was in New Orleans did I truly realize how a team can affect a city. Last Friday afternoon, as we walked along the levee that failed the lower ninth ward, we met three teenagers.
As they told us their stories, which included being forced into their attics for seven days while waiting rescue, I interrupted to ask about the Saints. These three boys, who stood on the site of their worst nightmare, recalling the day they saw a tsunami of water rushing at them, paused to release the brightest smiles I had seen since my arrival. Until then, I had never witnessed such hope written across another human's face. But there, standing with those kids, discussing Reggie Bush and the Saints' Super Bowl chances, I understood how Sunday's game could change lives.
New Orleans needs hope, because in a situation so dire, only hope can spur a human to live. Last Sunday, New Orleans turned to their Saints for hope, for a victory that could help transcend another dire week. The game became an opportunity for the Redskins to accommodate a city that was ready to add another chapter to its rebuilding story.
As it was, the Redskins didn't come through - they actually won. But there was a happy ending, as the Saints still clinched their division and a home playoff game - giving New Orleans reason to party on Bourbon Street and keep hoping for another week.

Jason, Thanks for the preview. Beautiful work, Scott--both the physical effort and your account of it. Makes me especially proud to be among Redskins fans knowing you're one too, as well as all who joined you in helping a community that is still, unfortunately, very vulnerable. Thanks for making my Christmas merrier with your report.

Scott's essay is great, by the way. Front page material.

In other news, I read somewhere that this will be the Rams' first locally blacked-out game since '95 due to the number of unsold tix as of whenever they make the teevee decision. I just checked ticketbastard, and seats are still available. They are still in playoff contention (however slim their chances) and, hello, this is their home finale. How are they not sold out? Amazing. Great show of commitment, Ram Nation.

Ricky Bobby and others have documented in painful detail the easy pickings in the FedEx parking lot, but could you imagine being able to walk up to the box office on game day and buy a ticket??

Logic dictates that fewer seats occupied by Ram fans will mean lower volume in the dome to harass and distract our Skins. Keep your sweater on, SwissHam, we are SO going for it on fourth down in the red zone.

Great essay! Happy holidays everyone!

Question for JLaC,
How often do you get the suspicion that some of the questions on your webchats and blogs are directly from player PR reps and/or agents?

Sometimes I see questions that are worded a little too carefully or come a little too far out of left field, and I think that it's just somebody fishing for recognition for one of their clients. Like Rocky McIntosh for example. Is it unrealistic that his agent has been on the chats or the Insider making noise for him? Do you avoid some of those type questions?

Similarly, you can always spot the real estate agents posing as satisfied homeowners when they post on the DC Real Estate chats and boards because of their insanely unrealistic optimism. It just sounds fake.

Great work Scott. Just remember you're still the little brother. lol

Posted by: jm220 | December 23, 2006 10:09 AM | Report abuse

LavarWalt - never really thought about that before. Guess it could be, but heck, that would be a pretty weak way to drum up support. Not exactly the most read things in the history of the world.
I just take whatever questions the screeners put through tome and pretty much go right down the list and answer them top to bottom until I run out of time.
Cheers.

J-La, just wanted to pass along my hearty thanks for continuing to rock the blog, however sporadically, in the face of a plethora of demands on your time. You are the mack daddy AND the daddy mack, not to mention the Chloe babydaddy. And that's a lot to keep up with.

Here is a question related to the pending offseason: how much time will you and Howard spend at the Park once the players clean out their lockers? Will the coverage be mostly events-driven (contract restructurings, FA pursuit/signings, draft) or will WaPo maintain a regular presence out here? Sorry if you've answered this before and I've just forgotten.

I can't wait to see the Grim Reaper blow up Steven "Action" Jackson tomorrow. My guess is that Jackson will get 80 yards and a mild concussion. He is a beast though. Should be a fun game to watch.

I hate to say this but I think we will have a bad game tomorrow and lose this one. We have not won back to back games since Houston/Jax and the Rams still have a glimmer of hope for the playoffs. Plus Marcus Washington is out.....

Even better of him and the gang to go to New Orleans. You guys do, indeed, rule.
I'll save my Christmas greetings for tomorrow, since I'll be working and will, no doubt, find my way here.

This is only the first step in widening the JLaC media empire. Soon, he'll even have his own radio show. From there he can partner with Maske on an NFL Network show where they yell at one another and countdown the top issues in the League. Heck, with a little luck, JLaC could be the Adam Schefter of American soccer.

By the way, Diddy...I'm assuming you are a big fan of Diddy's...or has he changed his name to something else?

Posted by: Lisa | December 23, 2006 9:43 PM | Report abuse

My musical taste can best be described as "non-existent". I love Diddy, but also adore The Killers, The Fray, The Doors, The Beatles, and pretty much every band wih a "The" on the front. My iPod has everything on it, from 50 Cent to Five for Fighting, Justin Timberlake to Timbaland, Frank Sinatra to Frankie Valli.

But I hate country.

Oh, by the way...make sure you get The Killers' Christmas song on iTunes. "Great Big Sled" is awesome, awesome, awesome. It's my new third-favorite Christmas carol, behind the timeless Jackson 5 version of Little Drummer Boy and John Lennon's "Happy XMas (The War is Over)" (which anyone who is anyone has at one point covered, including most recently, The Fray).

billy bob, whom i think IS attractive is good (in this movie) too. i didn't want sling blade to end neither. bad santa was hillarious...one more i can't think of...

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm skins related? ummmmmmmm i don't see the skins winning this one. i picked them to win the last one but won't this one cuz for one injuries and two, there's really no incentive to win for these guys (from top down). i'm just hoping JC has a good game. das all!

I don't know if any of the peeps are still up but had to make a post.

HaikuMan - "Poet Bard" indeed! Well done sir.

jm - glad you're back and that YOU are back. I figured NOLA was a great but difficult experience based on your absence this week. Missed you. *hug*

Country music - can grate but love the Dixie Chicks, Willie, Johnnie Cash and of course the queen Patsy Cline.

Okay I'm going to confess to what I did today because I know there are a few fellow geeks on here based on previous posts in previous threads.

I went to the Castro theater with two friends and watched all three Lord of the Ring movies in a row - 12 hours of the best movies ever. Bear in mind I did this when the third one came out and I own the extended versions of all three and I've read the book no joking over 50 times in my youth. It makes me a colossal geek but I can't help it I LOVE the movies LOVE LOVE LOVE and Peter Jackson is a geek genius. I am full of nobility and fire right now. I want to go out and learn archery and kill orcs and be an elf. And Viggo Mortensen aka Aragorn aka "Hot Action" as we like to call him well he's just a tall drink of water and yummy with a spoon.

*sigh* It was a most excellent first day of vacation. Now all I need is a win from the Skinnies and the world will be well. If the riders of the Riddermark can beat back the Uruk-hai then surely we can be the Rams.
Hi my name is sfskin and I am a geek. I've been a geek for my whole life. I appreciate your support.

I am honored to accept my noble title from the Blog (or at least from Couch and SFSkin!) It's been amazingly fun! The irony is if you ever met me in real life and knew what I did for a living, you'd be like "THAT's HaikuMan?"

Other thoughts:

1) Happy Birthday, SFSkin! Too bad you don't live around here, you could watch and hear an Orc everyday.

His name is Steve Czaban.

Seriously looks like something that crawled out of the Mines of Moria. (Low blow! Hi Czab!)

2)"Grosse Point Blank" is one of my all time favorite movies. I'm the type who loves the "throw away" lines in a movie the best; the non-headliner quotes that you know were probably ad libbed. John Cusak has one of the funniest examples of this ever when he is yelling at his assistant (played by Joan C.) and stutters: "Look here...Sergeant Pepper...." Check out her outfit and you'll laugh your ass off.

3) Non-sappy and non-sanctimonious country music is awesome. Besides, who doens't like a hot girl in cowboy boots and hat? Even as a Skins fan I can say that I do! :)

Merry, merry and all that....

Fell asleep last night while putting the baby boy to bed (has happened at least once a week since he moved from crib to 'big boy bed') and missed a TON of blog action. A lot of my favorite peeps in the house. Good times.

8kaboveMSL, happy birthday (did you mean 12/24 or 12/25?) and hope you're ready to de-cleat that birthday cake!

sfskin, the LOTR marathon sounds awesome. I am kind of jealous. Saw each of them two or more times on the big screen and again on DVD, but never all three in a row. Wow.

0 TCCLs for getting quoted in the print WaPo again and not being able to get a copy here in the PDX. But thanks for letting me know, Lisa...

On this holiday-ish day I didn't even ask for a hall pass to go watch my Skins at a local sports bar. So I'm going to check the blog when I can to see how the game is really going. Checking the score and plain stats won't tell me important things like whether they're wearing white jerseys/burgundy pants, how many de-cleatings we get, etc.

HAIL SKINS!

On that other topic, I'm not ashamed to be a fan of some country music.

Dwight Yoakum in general and his album "This Time" in particular helped me get over a long-standing bias against country.

Lucinda Williams works in the country genre and makes some of the sweetest good-rocking music around. Try "World Without Tears".

And the Uncle Tupelo record "Anodyne" is an all-time classic; Son Volt and Wilco emerged from the wreckage of Uncle T.

I deliberately misspelled Dwight Yoakam's last name in that post because I think it looks even funnier with a 'u.

Dealer, I'm kicking JLaC to get you Biff's number. At this rate, I may have to come over and fix the broken shabingus myself.
And thanks so much for talking about movies, guys. This brings us a major sore spot. I was hoping to get "Talladega Nights" for Xmas (which was Friday and Saturday, since I'm working today and tomorrow). Did I get it? NOOOOOOOOOO. If I wanna see Ricky Bobby, I have to come to the blog. So I'm ordering it RIGHT NOW. Take that, Santa, you doofus. I was, like, good and everything.
On another matter, Billy Bob as Bad Santa totally ruled.

Seems right about Posey at LB... somebody called that the other day (was it dealer?) since Posey is M.Wash's backup on the strong side. (I made a Parker Posey joke, which ruled.) Rocky waits his turn on the weak side. *sigh*

8k, I am a December 30 baby and empathize with the nearness to Xmas as a gift-minimizer. Capricorns represent! I hope we each get a Skins victory among our presents this year, to round out the season with a 3-0 run.

It all starts in the dome today... HAIL!

If you keep heading north out of that interchange, though, you hit the 110 to Pasadena, and that is a FUN FUN FUN road to drive. Sadly, I've never been able to do it in a real car, only in a rental. But if I do end up getting the Vantage, I'll get it from Aston Martin of Beverly Hills and will absolutely do the drive north on the 1, with a gratuitous detour across the 110.

i'm glad you guys feel the same way...it is really frustrating...the ignorance(to say the least)...

you know...i didn't even see the score till you mentioned it...WOO HOOOOOO 21 points!!!!

i know i haven't been giving betts that much cred...but i just saw the graphic of 5 game totals for skins...WOW!! i'm impressed mr. betts.

BUT i heard the idiot say something peculiar "if the skins knew that betts was capable of this then they wouldn't have gotten TJ for a 3rd rounder"...

Exhibit ZZZZZZ for the argument that this "front office" can't judge talent. not even when it's one of their own ...

but hey we have 21 points!!!!!! all's well that ends well!

diddy, honestly. if you don't want it i'll be more than happy to take it from you. or you could just go on line and go to that site where they exchange giftcards. but if you want to give it to me then send it over...

Um, "dumbest vegetable..." isn't that redundant?
I'm not ashamed to say that I had a great beet appetizer at Restaurant Eve last night. The bouillabaise is the best ever.

Wow, Restaurant Eve got 3.5 stars from Sietsema. Impressive. Tom's food articles are fantastic. I love his approach, his dedication, and his writing. Easily one of my favorite parts of the WashPo. His "Postcards" are also brilliant. He totally nailed a handful of my favorites in Sydney, and he actually did a great review of my favorite joint in Seattle (Veil...the chef was a sous chef at French Laundry).

As for Restaurant Eve...GREAT sample menus. I LOVE the concept of a "tasting room", too. Mmmmmmmm...

Obviously too early to tell for sure, but I think this Campbell kid is going to be a good one. His mechanics are goofy and he has a ton of work to do in that area, but we have to be encouraged by what we're seeing here.

31 points on the road. Niiiiiice.

Time to hold 'em, which from the look of the box score we haven't been able to do very much. Bulger must be very happy at the prospect of driving for a FG against our depleted secondary.

is it just me or did lamar marshall have his worst game of the year?

that is saying something considering how badly he's played all season. . .

SMACK: you could at lest post your picks every week, I thikn that would be fair retrobution for all the entertainment you've had at our expense. . .

What I've learned:

Our defense is absymal without Springs

Our special teams is the high point of the team

I'm a sick Redskins fanatic who almost had a heart attack during this game even though we have been out of playoff contention for weeks

Christmas is going to be even sadder than it originally was for me...and that is really SAD.

Posted by: Lisa | December 24, 2006 4:30 PM | Report abuse

I could have this wrong, but I think the Jints are still in the sixth NFC playoff spot (second wild card). I sure hope so. It will be nice to have 'something extra to play for', and it will feel great to play spoiler and end their season.

now for the positives. . .

draft position?

offense put up enough points to win this game. Offense is better, special teams has come a long way. If we could only play average defense we might have a shot at having a decent season next year.

so if we beat the jints next week do we avoid a last place finish? at least if we do there is no chance that players will not contiue to be fined for arriving on time to meetings in NYC - TC will be gone. . .

Posted by: skinsfan@8KaboveMSL | December 24, 2006 4:36 PM | Report abuse

Lisa, your post and P. Diddy's above ("To recap, this season...") really tell the story. What a heartbreaking season. You'd think we'd be well past any deep reactions at this point, but the agony persists.

Springs is our #1 defender but is too fragile. We were awful without him this year. But we already knew we were going to pursue a top CB FA, so no surprise there. Just hope we get better depth in the defensive backfield for what seems like the inevitable injury.

And Betts has a fumble problem. Not news but I want to keep saying it, since until last week I had forgotten about it. Hold on to the damn ball, dude!

Our record is 5-10. 5-10! Oh my.

FYI, the Giants have everything to play for next Saturday.

Posted by: Jason's editor | December 24, 2006 4:41 PM | Report abuse

Sadly, no chance we finish above the cellar in the NFC East. We'll be one game behind the Jints after we take out the frustration of the entire season on them by whipping their butts at FedEx on Saturday.

jm, was the Reaper a total no-show today? Did ANYBODY on our D come up with a de-cleating?

When it's week 16 and we have the same record as Houston, we have a problem.

Posted by: Nate in the PDX | December 24, 2006 4:41 PM | Report abuse

579 net yards for the Rams
Bulger passes for 388.
Rams rush for 197.
Rams -- 7.4-yard average gain per offensive play

Posted by: Jason's editor | December 24, 2006 4:48 PM | Report abuse

Nate I don't know where in the hell the Reaper was today. Rocky Mac seemed to have a good game. Campbell didn't have a great game but not bad either.

Ugh this was brutal, and our best player going in for the win loses it,,,and one of the best skins ever who spurrier/snyder wacked and embarressed scores against us...those type of guys always get the last laugh...

Wow what a nightmare...

Did anybody get a glimpse of the Jints-Saints today? Was it a combination of the Jints folding and the Saints roaring back to life (reinforcing the notion that our upset of them was a fluke)? It sure looks like the Jints gave up. And if they have given up, it should be an awfully fun game for us on Saturday.

It would be really cool for the NFC East to be the first divison to send three teams to the playoffs in one season. Even in a weak conference, that would be impressive. But I'd hate for our Skins to be the ones on the outside looking in. And Saturday is my birthday. I'm not trolling for presents, I just want to make it clear (I know you're reading this, Coach Joe) how super important it is for us to win this last game.

I LOVE Shawn Springs....man the guy is some kinda hot! I'm really angry right now because Kelli Johnson just asked him about being here next season....and then that idiot Czabe wanted to elaborate on his comments. Can't they wait until the offseason before they start that crap???

As to what was wrong with the Reaper, the problem was Springs being out of the game. Look at the games he has played this season with Springs and those without him and you can tell that having Springs in there definitely helps the Reaper.

I saw some of the Gints, during commercials on Skins-Rams. My God, it was unbelievably horrific. The QB whose name shall not pass my lips was 9 of 25 for 74 yards, one INT. Two fumbles lost, Gints had the ball for all of 19:26.

Posted by: Jason's editor | December 24, 2006 4:58 PM | Report abuse

Let's also not underestimate the value or Marcus Washington. Huge loss, makes it tougher on all the defenders.

Posted by: Jason's editor | December 24, 2006 5:00 PM | Report abuse

I have been saying for years that LBM is a average QB. One of my co-workers who is a big G-men fan finally agreed with me.

Posted by: jm220 | December 24, 2006 5:01 PM | Report abuse

The Defense just mailed it in after the half...what did the Rams have like 600 yards of offense?

Someone tell Warrick Holdman that this is AMERICAN football - he is allowed to use his hands and arms to tackle. How can GW watch these films and keep playing him every week?

Which brings me to AA. What awful thing did he do to get benched - he couldn't be any worse than Holdman or Rogers. Does Williams have any teenage daughters? That is my best guess.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all on this blog...I have been an infrequent poster but a longtime reader. There are some good souls on board here who deserve more than this team has been giving us for the last 10 years.

HOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO

Posted by: marksmen99 | December 24, 2006 5:03 PM | Report abuse

While the one QB in that family is the face of the NFL, he hasn't exactly won, has he? I thought LBM would be the one to step up and be a winner...Summer before last they stripped him back to the basics and I thought that would turn him around. Instead, he makes fundamental mistakes of the sort I would make if I were a QB.
If I were the Gints, I'd be looking for a loophole to negate that draft-day deal.

Posted by: Jason's editor | December 24, 2006 5:05 PM | Report abuse

Lisa, I love Shawn Springs, too, though maybe not in entirely the same way as you do. It's utterly foolish for anyone to consider not having him here when he is if not the top defender on the team, at least in the top three, when 80% healthy or better.

Next season we should have FA-CB-TBA and Springs as the top two plus Rogers as the third CB. I think we'd feel pretty darn good about that, going into the season.

Feeling better and better about a Saturday Night Massacre at FedEx to end the season.

The Jints love to play an ugly football game when the opportunity arises. Weren't they in the game with the most punts ever?

Alas, we've proven we can lose to them. They have found some creative ways to beat us over the years. But I have a feeling we're going to take care of business on Saturday. We seem to be 'trending up' over the past few weeks -- final scores notwithstanding -- while the Jints are definitely in a tailspin.

Did Strahan play for the Giants today?

I am worried about next week (can you guys tell I am a worrier?) as we will be again be missing M Washington and will be without Springs as well. Having those two in the game really makes a difference.

By the way, jm220, your boy (Rocky) played today....what did you think of his "performance"?

Lisa I thought Rocky had a good game. Love the one where Sam said he ran in from the side line to make the 11th man and made the tackle. Don't understand why double G takes him out after making a play. Big smack in the back of double G head.

The guys on Comcast were speculating that since Williams uses "packages" and Rocky is new he did not realize he was in on that package....so was not on the field...but he came in and made an impact on that play!

Well, our 5 and 10 defense lost another game. Gibbs' philosophy in the old days was to always hold the other team to under 20 points to insure victory. Wonder what Grilliams' philosophy is . . .

Forced to watch the Saints-Jints game, it seemed obvious that the Saints either took the Skins too lightly last week or they were looking ahead to the Jints game. Meanwhile, the Jints looked just awful. Late in the game, our former middle linebacker seemed very frustrated - looked like he was ready to fight a Saint after every play. (I guess passion for the game isn't a key criteria of the Skins FO in retaining players.) And LBM had that scared look in his eyes again, as he did earlier in the losing streak. Hard to believe that the Jints are still in the running for a playoff spot, or that they believe they can sneak in.

With next week's game on Saturday, most of the playoff puzzle should be up in the air, so the Jints seem like they have a reason to play hard. Meanwhile, the Skins seem to have little reason to do anything other than mail it in. With Springs and Washington probably out for the defense, it should be a really ugly game. Skins mostly will be playing to keep their jobs for next year - Gibbs was always big on evaluating players based on their efforts in final game of the season. My best guess is that we will se another game similar to today, with lots of offense and suspect defense.

Prediction: Redskins 31, Jints 28 . . . winning field goal with 2 seconds left by Ham&Swiss.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all who post here, and especially to JLaC and Cindy and the dedicated bloggers who make this a fun read daily . . .

We are SO breaking 20k entries this week. We're gonna blow right past it. On top of all the usual intrigue and angst, we have two major defensive injuries to deal with.

Just need J-La to feed the beast with a few insider posts. If he can prime the pump -- and if the Keystone Kops out at the Park come through with some typically silly statements and moves -- we'll be golden.

On the Post Game Show (did any of you see it?) an emailer wrote that Betts lost the game today....mentioned that the guys always went off on Brunell when we lost but that they were not saying anything bad about Betts. Betts did not lose the game today - the defense did- but if he had not fumbled, we would have WON.

Speaking of my man Brunell, the season is over....most of you have been hating on him all season....and teasing me because I took up for him. Well, I want to do it one last time. Renaldo Wynn and a few Skins players took some kids and their families to the toy store for Christmas and brought gifts for them. I know a lot of other NFL teams do this also. Brunell was one of the guys buying toys for the kids. No matter what you all think of him as a player, he has been a stand up classy guy all season and I just wanted to give him a shout out.

Lisa, it will be someone young, obscure, and who will instantly win a Division Championship, help establish a long-term vision for the franchise, and rein in out of control players.

Basically, everything the 'Skins are not.

What totally sucks is that mediocre teams are on the playoff bubble....and some of them will make it. I see both the Eagles and Giants making it in the NFC East...and the Giants have been horrible. I can only ask....what if?????

Posted by: Lisa | December 24, 2006 7:45 PM | Report abuse

What if: (with answers)

- The 'Skins had shown restraint in not signing Adam Archuleta and Brandon Lloyd? (I wouldn't be suffering through the Adam Archuleta workout, and Taylor Jacobs would still be around)

- The "core Redskins", Smoot, Pierce, Clark, and Harris, were still here? (11-5 and a Division title perhaps)

- The 'Skins hadn't laid eggs against Minnesota, Tennessee, and Tampa Bay? (8-7, in the thick of the playoff hunt...though, in hindsight, 'Skins vs. Titans marked the beginning of the Vince Young Era)

- "Mr." Snyder hadn't bought the team and instead Howard Milstein had won his bid to own the team (No idea)

Local teevee in Seattle is running the age-old "last minute shopping" story. Gag me.

diddy, i feel the same way too about age old stories but you know i live an area and i think you do too where there's a lot of new comers. why just today i forgot the stroller at home and some nice lady helped me with my "parcels" at the mall while trying to carry a toddler and 6 shopping bags.

re: the skins...what we gonna do. i still think they're going to draft a QB if saunders is around.

btw, lisa next week tune into 980. rick doc walker is much better. he makes good points by someone who's played important. i had never thought of this but he was explaining why JC's passes are always errant to moss on the sidelines, medium routes. because he said JC is 6'4 and moss is 5'9 and that's a big adjustment for someone that size and for a rookie QB...and that's why he likes cooley...who doesn't!

well looks like they'll be 6-10 guaranteed unless the giants decide they need to send tiki and TC on a winning note (my bet is on tiki)...the only reason i think gibbs is going to go all out is cuz he doesn't want the fans chanting "GM GM GM GM GM GM GM GM"...if they lose...

True story:

Skins are up in the 2nd half, but I think Rams had just scored to pull within 7.

I say "Aw, f*kc" as I see Saunders call an-end-around-reverse-something-or-other-gimicky play to ARE. My buddy looks over from the Pats game and sees that the play goes for about 5 yards or so after looking like ARE was going to barely get back to the line.

He goes "Not so bad, turned out well."

Me: "Doesn't matter. Skins just lost this game. Everytime they run the reverse, it sucks the life out of them and it gaining some yards is actually WORSE because it only encourages Al Saunders."

Him (not paying attention anymore): "Wow, big speech."

Me: -toasts a season lost and a soon-to-be-lost game, drains beer-

Waitress: "Want another?"

Me: "Why yes. Yes, I would."

My mother is from S. America so we do Christmas latin style i.e. we celebrate Christmas eve except my dad is in very poor health so we now do Christmas Eve as a lunch rather than late dinner. Anyhoo I dropped out after 3rd quarter to go do fam celebrations.

So I just finished watching the game. I had to do the ffwd on Tivo for the OT cause I couldn't take it. I could not take it. I can't believe we tied and then of course we effin LOSE. Stupid stupid stupid defense. What happened to the Reaper on that TD - I guess he got juked but it looked like he was faking motions.

Mmmkay - Ladell buddy pal bra friend . . .watch Cooley when he is getting tackled he hugs the ball like a suicide bomber howze about you try it ding dong. Nice game key fumble arghghghghghghgh.
