Odds and Ends
Figured I'd clean out my notebook now between practices and get some more odds and ends out there:
Jim Zorn, who is very much Everyman, with no pretense about him (at least that I can detect so far), lurked in the back of the media-schlub pack when Jason Campbell was doing a group session, trying to blend in before asking his starting QB a question, pretending to stammer and stumble with his words:
"How's your arm holding up?" Zorn asked.
"I don't know, Coach Zorn, I might have thrown too much," Campbell fired back, jokingly. ...
Caught up with Chris Wilson. He's an untapped gem, one of the coolest dudes out there and a great quote. The second-year end is a little bleary-eyed these days. His wife gave birth Wednesday to their first child, a daughter named Brooklynn. "I haven't had a decent meal since Monday," said Wilson, 26, who, experience tells me, had better work on his cooking skills. With the players living at the National Conference Center the next few weeks and eating together as a team, ostensibly the food should be decent. After that, he's on his own. ... Players will likely don full pads midweek, but for now were relishing being in shorts and shells as they worked back into football condition. ... The Redskins announced a crowd of 6,100 for the 8:30 session this morning. The afternoon session is closed to the public.
