Where's the "All of the above except C." button?

I'm dripping with anticipation of more Haynesworth news.

C'mon, mannn. I need a fix, mannn. Just a taste!

Talk about irony. A guy who posts on RI all day, e'ry day is mocking government workers.

brownwood26, you're leaving out the fact that he is elite at his position... not just average, even if he shouldn't be out there every down.

Posted by: Alan4 | December 7, 2010 10:43 AM

People need to stop with this assumption...he's about as elite as Jay Cutler is at QB...which is to say, he's not.

Having talent doesn't make you elite. It makes you talented. What separates the elite from the good is work ethic...which AH clearly doesn't have. Show me his best season when he's NOT playing for a contract and get back to me...

Somehow all of them...

These poll choices are worse than usual. P

"Clean house and declare multi-year rebuilding effort" - This already underway, no team in their right mind is going to publicly tell fans it will be 5 yrs until they are competitive, they still have tickets to sell.

"Continue to try to win now" - have to balance winning now and winning in future. No sure anyone would tolerate a 0-16 season just for the possibility of one day being good. And I'm sure no coach would survive if they tried this plan.

Repost for TWISI-

Here is a guy on a practice squad worth raiding and adding to the 53 man roster.

Shawn Crable 3-4 OLB

Drafted in the 3rd RD in 2008 out of Michigan by NE. Suffered a Shin injury his rookie YR and was put the IR. His 2nd season he had a groin injury and was again put on the IR. He's now healthy and on the Jet's practice squad.

He'd be a good get because of his upside and his experience playing in the 3-4 as an OLB. Easily would be an upgrade to LoA.

For a team lacking talent this would be a NO risk and potentially high reward move.

Posted by: Diesel44 | December 7, 2010 9:09 AM

Also add these guys to the FA wsh list instead of overpaying for the "big name" guys. These are young guys that would be perfect for our system.

C Ryan Kalil (25)
RT Ryan Harris (25)
RB Jamaal Charles (23)
OG Carl Nicks (25)
3-4 OLB Tamba Hali (27)
NT Aubrayo Franklin (30 but a legit NT)
NT/3-4 DE Gabe Watson (27)
NT/3-4 DE Alan Branch (25)

I voted "Clean house and declare a multi-year rebuilding effort". REBUILT, REBUILT, REBUILT, darn, it! Seriously, I bet you guys if we had an American Idol - like system where everyone from this post can vote who'll be the GM, Coach, and who should be drafted, the skins would be 5 times better than they are today. Don't you dare say we're just fans and not experts. Look what those expects done for us for 11 years.

dies, I was a big nicks fan a few years back when he available in the draft. he went in the 6th round or something like that. We had a shot at him, however took someone whom is probably out of football by now....sigh...

Its helpless Alan. Peeps hate the dude. They cant even admit that he is elite at his position. They dont understand that hs is literally the ONLY player on our D that other teams have to change their game plan for. But this has been the same for a while now.
People love to hate a guy like this and AH does nothing to help himself. Unlike most people that just want to spit venom at AH i want to know whats up with Shanny, dude is out of control.

Posted by: Stu27 | December 7, 2010 10:58 AM | Report abuse

... so, why don't you make like a tree, and get outta here...

Me, I'm sort of numb to the whole Haynesworth drama, so at this point I say either inactivate him for the rest of the season or play him, and hope in the off-season you can get at least a 5th for the dude.

People, rational people, aren't saying that Shanahan should be fired over the Haynesworth debacle.

People are saying that he should be HEAVILY scrutinized over his handling of the roster, coach & player management, and his [and Kyle's] decision making on gameday. It's the Shanahan apologist who seem to think that the guy is above questioning and can't do ANY wrong in ANY facet of football or probably life in general...based on his success PRIOR to coming here... like, 10,15 years ago...

* Tank the REst of the season to get in the Cam Cameron Bowl.

* Trade HAynesworth for a 7th Rounder

* Draft Best Available in 'OLine/DLine/LB' in all rounds save for 1st if we can get Cam.

* Sign qaulity FAs who had to sign those 1yr RFA tenders last year. Those are all 4th - 7th year players and were @ about 200+ last year to fill the rest of your LB/OLine/DLine void

* Sit C. C. down all year 1 and let McNAbb try to do his thing and see if he's willing to take a back up role the year after or cut/trade him.....

OLine/DLine/LB Priority:

1. NT
2. LG/RG
3. OLB opposite O'Sack'po
4. ILB (Perry Riley is one but we need another to replace LFB)
5. DE

With little chance of making the playoffs this year, what should be the Redskins' top priority for the future?

The team needs to rebuild the old-fashioned way: depend on the draft and low-cost Free Agents.

We have to admit that we are not just 'one player away' and devote the next draft to adding a young quarterback and offensive AND defensive linemen.

I'd take on a few 3-13 seasons and quality drafting as the childish tactic of 'win-now' with name FA's hasn't worked--and won't.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the middle of the kind of rebuilding we need to engage in.

The have young studs at quarterback, receiver, the O and D lines, and are well-coached.

Watch the carefully this weekend.

If we are to improve, we might have to take the path they are already walkin'.

You need to include an "All of the above" option on this poll.

Maybe their motto should be -

Back to the future is now!

Stu, I agree with you. When I learned on Sunday that Shanahan was deactivating Haynesworth, I was so angry I could not see straight. Knew it was gonna be a long day.

Like Doc Walker said yesterday - who does Shanahan hate more - Haynesworth of the Giants (our division RIVAL). I think we got the answer to that question.

And don't even get me started on the McNabb benching debacle and lies Shanahan told after that happened.

So... has the team reached rock bottom yet?

20 years of rebuilding... and counting!!!

BTW... why were our players wearing Jets uniforms last night?

Posted by: Redskinrex | December 7, 2010 11:47 AM | Report abuse

All these options are dumb.

No organization has ever admitted to rebuilding, every team and player believes they can win every game, why play them if you think otherwise?

giving up donavon is dumb and for what young qb? Like there jus giving those talented ones away for older qb's, pipe dream. Listen whoever thought this one up, quarterbacks have to fit a system you can jus magically pluck one off the tree. When they find a good young qb they'll get him. Till further notice no point in just getting a young qb to get one is dumb and would the franchise for another 5 years...Great option though.

Where not winning now....period.

Weither we where 10-6 or 6-10 we where going to work on the o and d line this offseason...this is an acquisition question, EVERY TEAM tries to better their team every year. This is like saying will the skins try to fix the obvious or not? They got trent williams and will get others, this isn't an option, every team does it. The real question is how it'll work out.

Skill position- check o and d line.

Get better options or don't do this survey at all, honestly. And you guys are lying saying you would take a few 3-13 seasons, your complaining now and were 5-7. Get real, its been only 12 games into his first year and your already calling for a new coaches job. And you think this town can stand a few 3-13 seasons? Get real.

You want to know what the problem with Dan Synder really is? He thinks like a fan. You makes the same illogical decisions you guys would make if you guys owned the team. Mike Shannahan is the second highest winningest coach in the league right now besides Bill Beilichik. And rebuilt a franchise in the raiders before getting fired and won superbowls with the broncos. The man knows what hes doing. So what you guys need to do is own up to your own words and have patience. For the first time next year we will actually have cap space and 7 picks in the draft.... this is sad but its been like 8 years since we've had either. This team is moving in the right direction, and all you guys have to do is do what you said you where going to do and...have patience.

You'd have a point had we had experts in the FO for the past eleven years.
