Could WMAL do a rebroadcast with Sonny, Sam and Frank of some of those great games of the 70s and 80s when Washington had a real football team?

"Wasn't the guy that played QB Mac Davis? Davis actually made Dandy Don out to be a real clown and the guy that plated the Roger Staubach character really did him good, too.

Posted by: Jurgensen9"

Yep, Mac Davis... love that the crucial game [spoiler alert] hinged on a gimme kick (in this case, an extra point) where the snap was fumbled by the QB holder. Which happily foreshadowed Tony Romo. Good times.

I hope Cooke gets some serious playing time. I'd really like to see what he can do. With any luck, it's one less O line spot we have to fill next year.

it's pretty weird to have this post up now...before the game...

but, i guess i'd have to say that so far, an hour before the game, the redskins haven't made any mistakes. tie game so far...

Did you all see that Jay Glazer report that Mcnabb on short leash today and Sexy Rext took half the snaps this week?

Posted by: chrislarry | December 12, 2010 12:30 PM | Report abuse

Did you see Glazer report DMac is on a "short leash"? That Grossman split the reps with the 1s this week in practice? The DMac will get pulled unless he performs well?

Posted by: swowra | December 12, 2010 12:30 PM | Report abuse

Inactive for the Skins: Defensive backs Carlos Rogers and LaRon Landry, wide receiver Terrence Austin, offensive lineman Erik Cook, defensive end Jeremy Jarmon, guard Derrick Dockery, and running back Andre Brown. John Beck is the third quarterback.

Inactive for the Bucs: safety Larry Asante, cornerback Dominique Johnson, fullback Erik Lorig, guard Brandon Carter, offensive tackle Will Barker, wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe, and defensive tackle Frank Okam.

I'm reporting that Skins are actually prepping Grossman to play today if McNabb struggles, K Shanahan informed staff. Rex & Don split reps

Posted by: chrislarry | December 12, 2010 12:35 PM | Report abuse

chrislarry, I don't see the long-term thinking with DMac on a short leash. Maybe it's motivating and keeps him accountable and whatnot, but a qb controversy with all of the other holes on this team is downright depressing.

Posted by: swowra | December 12, 2010 12:36 PM | Report abuse

If McNabb has any game in him, he needs to show it today. He's stunk lately. Today could be Grossman's day to stink.

Posted by: beep-beep | December 12, 2010 12:38 PM | Report abuse

If that happens CL there is no question in my mind we will go after a QB next year draft. So I am hoping for Cam

hey cL, nice to be sitting out an FF week with a BYE.

I just have to wonder what the he!! is going on in McNabbs brain. Third and short. He drops back, no pressure, Cooley breaks open in the flat. No INT risk. He steps up and throws it in the dirt 4 yards in front of him.

What is he targeting when he throws? Or does his brain just go blank and throws it in a direction?

WTF?

Posted by: edvar | December 12, 2010 1:16 PM | Report abuse

interesting clock management, I blame Haynesworth

Posted by: coparker5 | December 12, 2010 2:17 PM | Report abuse

This game was lost in the first quarter.

I hope Mike and Bruce really do like the performance of their 2010 second round draft pick. McNabb is a waste of time, money and that draft pick you will never ever get back.

Posted by: BigTrees | December 12, 2010 3:58 PM | Report abuse

Absolutely ridiculous. Speechless... disgusted... embarassed... not shocked.

Posted by: ChuckMann | December 12, 2010 4:03 PM | Report abuse

Gano = Guano!

McNabb = Aim for the FEET

Shanahan = Who needs clock management.

Those are the key ingredients to yet ANOTHER loss.

Posted by: mebail | December 12, 2010 4:05 PM | Report abuse

This team won it's last game against the Titans three weeks ago. The Jags will maul them, and I don't even wanna consider what the Cowboys and Giants are gonna do.

Posted by: ericenderle | December 12, 2010 4:14 PM | Report abuse

Is there anyone out there which still follows these bums? Man this stinks from the owners box to the water boys tennis shoes.

Posted by: teeballou | December 12, 2010 4:19 PM | Report abuse

LMAO!!!...Bums.

Posted by: jbworldwide | December 12, 2010 4:25 PM | Report abuse

I always assumed the lousy clock management by the Eagles over the last ten years was Andy Reid's fault.
I guess i was wrong.

Posted by: JONJJ | December 12, 2010 4:29 PM | Report abuse

WTF? WTF? WTF?

OK, let's look at the 2-minute offense at end of first half. Mike, are you gonna pull your baby boy Kyle over his ineptitude in clock management and play calling?

Posted by: pyrotech | December 12, 2010 4:32 PM | Report abuse

Redskins even cheated (extra down) and got lucky (Tampa fumble at 1) and couldn't win. Gotta think $cumbag $hyster $nyder has cursed this team.

Posted by: password11 | December 12, 2010 4:50 PM | Report abuse

this team truly stinks. i just cant figure how any team allows itself to be embarrassed and humiliated in front of their fans like this.

When a team losses like this it just ain't their season. when was the last time matter of fact? Fell sorry for the fans.

Posted by: llewis40 | December 12, 2010 5:04 PM | Report abuse

Wow, they really suck.

Posted by: 44fx2901 | December 12, 2010 5:10 PM | Report abuse

No surprises here. Just more Redskins football.

Posted by: richs91 | December 12, 2010 5:36 PM | Report abuse

The Redskins stink! No if then and buts about it.

We are overhyped. And, the fans overcharged for a SUBPAR team that is bottom of the barrel!

We need to BLOW the team up. There are only a handful of players that deserve to be here ...

1/ Brian Orakpo
2/ Jeremy Jarmon
3/ Anthony Armstrong
4/ Brandon Banks
5/ London Fletcher
6/ D'Angelo Hall
7/ Laron Landry
8/ Kevin Barnes
9/ Fred Davis
10/ Chris Cooley
11/ Lorenzo Alexander

Trent William isn't Jim Lachey. He is injury prone and has yet to dominate anyone as a LT.

We need to get younger, stronger, faster ... on the O-Line, D-Line. We need TALL, physical, and talented WRs no one shorter than 6'. A shut down DB and a Sean Taylor like safety ...

The need for a FRANCHISE QB has been underscored in the past few games. Donovan is not the ANSWER.

Ryain Torrain and Keiland William are decent backs, but we need to upgrade there as well.

Posted by: mi6-007 | December 12, 2010 6:14 PM | Report abuse

Shanahan is deflecting any responsibility and blaming Haynesworth for the loss.

Posted by: omegamgt | December 12, 2010 6:27 PM | Report abuse

The Redskins should have won this game. I had a feeling that they would play better and they did until the 4th quarter. The Skins left too many points on the field. I mean 160 some yards rushing and you have only 10 points!! This is becoming too common. I'm not one of these fans who is going to just going to give up. I think it was a mistake to announce/sign McNabb to a 5 year extension. He has been a disappointment this year. I need the Skins would be better with him, but he has made them stay in neutral with his inconsistency. This is why the Eagles got rid of him. If Snyder and Allen were going to win now then they should have rebuilt the offensive line stronger, broke the bank and got someone like Randy Moss/or even Chad Johnson. They have no deep threat that can break open and catch the ball. Santana Moss is inconsistent and needs to go. Carlos Rogers needs to go. They need some mean defensive lineman and instead of crybabbies like Albert Haynesworth. 20 years of futility is enough time to get your act together as a franchise. Maybe it is the constant turnover the last 15 years with 6 head coaches.

Posted by: jharris3 | December 12, 2010 7:39 PM | Report abuse

at what point does all the BS motion penalties...awful offense, looking like they are confused even in the 1st quarter finally fall on Shanahan...noty Albert or anyone else...look at the top...so far he hs VERY poor scorecard ... VERY prro

You ask us to rate the Redskins, but by now it's just beyond words. How many different ways can you say "they suck". You can't any longer talk sensibly about hope, or promise. And rebuilding? Rebuild what? Some distant and far off memory from 25 years ago? Yeah, rebuild the Redskins, and while you're at it, rebuild my youth.

Posted by: 44fx2901 | December 13, 2010 6:31 AM | Report abuse

CHOOOOOOKEEEEE!!!! Dey suck....

Posted by: demtse | December 13, 2010 7:18 AM | Report abuse

When the train pulls out with Haynesworth on it, make sure McNab has a ticket. His performances are catching up with the smiley PR.

Posted by: jmilton1 | December 13, 2010 7:36 AM | Report abuse

DC is becoming the elephant graveyard. Old former pros come here to die...with a fat contract.

"There's a lot of quit in this team."

Posted by: theduck6 | December 13, 2010 7:55 AM | Report abuse

Get a life! The Tampa team is much better this year. The Bucs traditionally fall apart when they play a northern team outdoors in December. The weather was real nasty yesterday - ice cold, raining and windy.

Maybe it is time to build a dome stadium for the Redskins. They would probably do better if they had better fans.

Posted by: alance | December 13, 2010 8:28 AM | Report abuse

^21^

Sham-ahans' boy missed another kick. Gano has to be the nephew of the Sham-ahans. All year the fans have been asking for some competition and Coach says NO. Gano is the man and he will be great. STFU Coach

BRING BACK AL

The Redskins stink. What else can you say? Why do you bozos who go to the home games still pay those exhorbitant ticket prices, parking fees, and outrageous consession prices?

You're just encouraging incompentence.

All season ticket holders boycott Redskin games until they fire Danny boy and get an owner who knows how to run a pro football game.

The Redskins are an embarrassment!

Posted by: montana123 | December 13, 2010 8:55 AM | Report abuse

With the way they are playing, the Redskins will be lucky to win another game this season. I thought at the beginning of the season that they would go 8-8. I thought that with McNubb and Shanahan they should get at least 4 more wins. Looks like the damage that Snyder and Vinnie had brought to the team is deeper than what I had thought. I would be surprised if we make the payoffs before 2013.

Posted by: AlfromAlexandria | December 13, 2010 10:01 AM | Report abuse

...need to blow this thing up. Trade anyone over 26 for anything you can get...we won't get any better until they realize this. And I see things going on, on the field, on the sidelines, and upstairs that make me question as to whether Allen/Shanahan are the answer....
