Portis Broken Right Hand

Press announcer just made it official. Got to think that might be the end of the season for Clinton, considering how beat up he is already. Can't imagine him holding the ball too well with a broken right hand.
Yikes.

can't imagine how that news will do anything but demoralize an already bruised Redskin moral.

Who's liking the TJ trade now?

Posted by: mile high | November 12, 2006 2:14 PM | Report abuse

FYI, still no sign of T.J. He and Jason Campbell are hanging out together.

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 12, 2006 2:23 PM | Report abuse

If I were an Iggles fan, I'd want my team to hit 24 points by the half. I wouldn't feel good about 17-3....

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 12, 2006 2:24 PM | Report abuse

is TJ helping JC hold the clipboard - - those suckers can get heavy!

Posted by: mile high | November 12, 2006 2:25 PM | Report abuse

TJ's job is to remove the splinters from JC's behind. It's thankless, yes, but at least he's in the NFL and isn't bagging groceries.

Too bad about 2-6. I feel for him.

Ya know, this game ain't over yet! I'm with Diddy and Bluto on that Germans and Pearl Harbor thing.

A toss on third-and-10 is the best Al Saunders can do???

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 12, 2006 2:40 PM | Report abuse

Yes. What was with that toss on 3 and 10? Has the saunders been completely castrated? There seems to be a lack of testosterone among the play callers on the skins.

Posted by: King Bonehead | November 12, 2006 2:44 PM | Report abuse

That was originally Billy Shakespeare, responding to the opening of Marlowe's Edward II.

If ever there was an indictment about the coaching staff's faith in Brunell, and admission that Campbell may never be able to play it's that Brunell is a) playing despite a lost season and b) handing off on third down and long.

Q.E.D.

Posted by: P Diddy | November 12, 2006 2:46 PM | Report abuse

i had no idea that brunell was this inept(?). my god!!! and why would you call a time out on 4th down without letting the clock run down a bit.

defense needs a turnover or two bad otherwise the dinks and dunks aren't gonna get it done.

is it just me or this game has had the most personal fouls in a half EVER?!

jason's editor, no, not best al can do but the best gibbs boy brunell can do and gibbs will allow to be done.

Posted by: dealer | November 12, 2006 2:54 PM | Report abuse

Brunell is throwing high the last few passes. What's up with that?

Posted by: disappointed | November 12, 2006 2:57 PM | Report abuse

ok i've wanted to believe that Joe Gibbs is so smart he could even run for president in 2008...
if they don't put TJ in the second half I will be beside myself. The iggles can still be beaten, We need a gut check at half time and then some Redskin football using Ladell an And TJ as a Washington Thunder and Lightning. Nothing else will do; as we have to give the Defense a break and only the run can open up our pitiful passing game.

Posted by: sspiper | November 12, 2006 2:59 PM | Report abuse

Skinz aren't out of this one yet. 'Member how the Iggles gacked against the Gints in Week 2? And, of course, the unforgettable three-game gackfest.

Posted by: Jason's editor | November 12, 2006 3:01 PM | Report abuse

Big question of the evening: Pesquera Reserva or Lo Piot. The Pesquera is an awesome Tempranillo while the Lo Piot is a Grenache. I've already had half a bottle of Cava. I'm beginning to see a couple of teeny little Slingbox windows on my laptop. Should be a fun post-game gripe session.

How come the Iggles can pick up our all-out blitz, while the 'Skins can barely pick up a hooker in a brothel?

Posted by: P Diddy | November 12, 2006 3:02 PM | Report abuse

go for the Temp/Rioja. The nuance of black cherry and spice is a metaphor for what the Redskins need to do. Spice up that offense!

QB comparison:
Brunell: 16/31 132 yards 0TD 1INT
McNabb: 11/25 215 yards 1TD 0INT

16 completions for 132 yards. And Lloyd had 43 of those yards on one play. So really 15 completions for 89 yards, or less than six yards a completion, when you take out that one pass.

The horror. The horror.

I just can't get over how two men like Gibbs and Saunders, whose past clearly shows that they are brilliant coaches, don't acknowledge that BenchMark's limitations kill this offense and let defenses play tight to cover both the run AND the pitiful dink/dunk "passing game" required because BenchMarck can't throw the ball downfield unless the WR makes a brilliant play to adjust to his woefully inadequate "long" ball.

That games sucked. If I had paid the Redskins organization any money for ANYTHING this year, I would immediately march to Redskins Park and ask for my money back.

8 yards a catch. That is flipping pathetic. My flag football team averages more than 8 yards a catch. Replace the quarterback, cut the punter, fire SOMEBODY! Earn your money!

Good night.

I liked B-Mitch's comment about how when we won last week Gibbs was eager to answer questions about all aspects of that game, but he wont answer questions about this game until he looks at the tape. He is also right about how the media takes it easy on Gibbs. They dont really seem to ask any questions to get any real answers out of him. He is right about one thing, the responsibility falls on him. So if we are to place the blame on one person, lets direct it towards Gibbs.

He said he came back to return the Redskins to glory. So far, he is doing a poor job. He needs to grow a pair like Parcells and do whats best for the team and put personal loyalty to the side.

Defense demonstrated no pride and passion in the fourth quarter. They let the Eagles hold hte ball for the last nine minutes. That's unheard of. Brunell should have never played in the fourth quarter. This is getting ridiculous. I don't want to question the intelligence of the coaches and playesr, but then again, I do. I mean, a 5-yard slant on third-and-nine is not smart. No bones about it. I say, don't play Portis the rest of the year and start Campbell. This thing has come to a grinding halt. Thank goodness for Gilbert.

Can't wait to hear Gibbs tomorrow...will it be his usual "....great group of guys....playing our guts out....bad call here, and there...." or will he finally step up, have some doo-dads and pull a Jim Mora? "....PLAYOFFS??? Hell, i just want to win a game...." or ...."we couldn't do diddley-poo". I think it's time to ruffle a few feathers, and embarrass some of these "so called" football players. And while he's at it, don't even bench Brunell, cut his ass!!!!

In the old days, there'd be yellng and hollering while we watched the Redskins play. Nowadays, you could hear a pin drop.

Playoffs?!? Playoffs?!? Lol.

I read often and post seldom. This was one of the worst games they played this year. The defense still can't defense long passes and the offense is throwing four yard slants on 3rd and 9. If these guys are fighting their guts out then they are the worst professional football roster in the NFL.

I don't think that just changing the quarterback will solve their problems but it is time to see what Campbell can do. At 3 and 6 there is no longer any realistic chance of making the playoffs. Maybe if we complete a pass over ten yards once and a while we can go 6 and out instead of 3 and out. That should give the defense a little extra rest.

OHH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!

i can't believe czabe did that. in the post game CSN had brunell on. and czabe asked brunell this question:

"would you go to coach gibbs and ask him to put the kid in since he's the future qb?"

czabe, what is wrong with you?

CHEAP SHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and mark's response was "i can't believe you asked that question...today..." and was visibly shaken. like Pi$$ED OFF shaken! you guys have to watch it if you can. maybe on you tube.

yes, we all want #8 out of there and yes, gibbs has lost it (in my opinion) but to do that to someone on tv 30 minutes after a loss. is just wrong.

czabe, i don't think you're going to get any interviews from skins players anytime soon. and i'm your fan. but that was way way way below the belt. just for the record if i was #8 i would never ever do that either. no competitive person would ever would do that.

Im glad Czaban asked him that question. Someone needs to let these fools know that they are fleecing millions upon millions of dollars and they should be held accountable. That's not a cheap shot or wrong. He didn't insult him personally. He asked him if he cared enough about the Redskins to do what we all can agree is the best thing for the team.

Dealer,

Czabe went for the jugular didn't he? You could see the smoke coming out of Brunell's ears.

...what we all can agree is the best thing for the team...

there! that's the problem right there. who're you? or i? we're just fans. we don't know what's going on. it's not #8's fault that his coach can't see that he can't play anymore. why put #8 in that position and take cheap shots at him? why doesn't he ask Gibbs? ohh yeah, that's right cuz gibbs refuses to talk to him or any media outlet that's affiliated with czabe.

if you as a fan want to protest the team then do so by NOT WATCHING THE TEAM. OR start up an investment group and have another team move here. a population of 7 million strong can supporta another team.

and it (what czabe did) wasn't just unprofessional but also a suicide(when it comes to skins access). i feel really bad for czabe. he let his emotions as a fan get in the way of his job as a "talking head".

Posted by: dealer | November 12, 2006 6:15 PM | Report abuse

john, he did. and i felt bad for both of them. i really hope czabe can put this behind him somehow. i'm all for badgering gibbs because he's the one that should be badgered and x-examined and put under a spotlight and chinese water torture(:)) but none of his players deserve this. it's all gibbs guys! not even snyder shares any blame for this. (well, maybe 2-5%)

Dealer, I loved the question from Czabe and the follow up. It was appropriate. Remember that Brunel went out and told the media during camp that anything short of a Superbowl would be a disappointment. He has looked like crap out there. Let's all cry for Mark Brunel getting a "tough question". I'd like to see b-mitch tell him that many fans are rooting for him to get hurt, no bad but enough so that the whole deal with him goes AWAY!

He should do as Czabe suggests and go tell the coach that Jason Campbell playing is NOW the best thing for the future. I thought it was also great to see Ken Harvey ask Brunel if his mind and ego were requesting things that his body could not perform...the QB has to be leader and noone believes in him and his short passing game and lack of arm strength or ability to step up in the pocket. Three of the four experts on Comcast think Brunel stinks, Wilbon knows it. It's time to tell the emperor that he has no clothes on.
