Blache on Big Game (the Non-Steelers Type)

Dan Steinberg has more on Blachisms.

Cindy, I love all the threads, it's fast and furious, the way it oughta be at this point in the season!

And today, at least, Immovable Type appears to be holding up its end of the bargain... which certainly helps.

So home or away jerseys this weekend?

I read somewhere early in the year, maybe uniwatch, that the skins would be wearing the burgundy at the final 4 home games this year. Don't have a link to article...

From the Pitt Post:

"Add linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf) to the injury list. He did not practice yesterday, and neither did Marvel Smith (back spasms) nor nose tackle Casey Hampton (toe) among others"

Is Erasmus James going to improve into a solid contributor?

Gonna be tough sleeding for CP26 on Mon I think the steelers average like 72 yards rushing a game, thats very low, they hate giving up 100 yard rushing games. I noticed last week that one oif their lineman Willie Colon the RT was having a terrible game getting owned and flagges all over the place, granted it was against a good line but i could see Griffin and Goldston giving them some problems up front, they also have been having LT problems lately he has been injured like ours. You cant really say what your gonna get out of Willie if he will even play, looks like he is going to but you figure he will be a little rusty and often takes a while to get up to ful speed anyhows.

There D is pretty scary. They do have one of if not the best LB corps in the league. Farrior and Foote are both solid heady players that can lay the wood. Lamar Woodley is an up and coming pass rusher in the league and could be great in the future, howeva hes been hurt this week and limited in pratice. The wildcard is James Harrison, he burst onto the NFL scene last year and has to be considered on of the more versitle LB in the country. Plus there saftey which everyone know plays like a LB.
All those linebackers mean we will have to rely on our passing game more then we have in the past. I think CP26 can get close to the 100 mark if he goes over we win fo show but that a lot to ask. Unlike games in the past when we have tried to rely on the pass game we will have to rely on it this game to move the ball effectively, you cant just grind the chains against this team.

Hail!!

Sack numbers are overrated. They may have more when all is said and done but we'll have the better coverage on the back end which in turn will help win us the game.

Hail to the Redskins.

If the 'Skins lose doesn't that mean McCain will win and if the 'Skins win doesn't that mean Obama will win?

Isn't that how the election has played out in the past, who knows how long, elections?

'Skins determine who wins the POTUS.

Sacks as a stat may be over rated but the consistant pressure/pass rush is not. Its an area our D can improve in, nothing wrong with admitting that. Thats why you can be "very good" which we are, but still strive for "elite" which we are working towards.

Generally speaking, I loathe the three big Florida schools, but this weekend I'm giving 100% support to the Florida Gators. [insert whatever cheer Gators fans use]

We've already seen one of the best LB corps in the league, the Eagles', and that turned out pretty well for us. Not saying past results guarantee future success, but I have faith in Campbell, Portis, Zorn, Mighty Meidt, Stumpy -- and oh yeah, Buges and the O line -- to figure it out.

Come on, you Redskins... if this is a team that saves its best and most complete efforts for its biggest games, it will be ready for the Steelers. Only MNF appearance, huge opportunity to make a statement...

Very depressing. Wish it were the other way around.

Yeah nate;

but i worry about all this talk of tired and beat up... setting us up for an 'excuse loss'... and not that it isnt a valid one, but i just have that nagging feeling we will be talking about how we lost this game because of the need for rest etc...

That seems to have been the problem the last 3 weeks actually, maybe two weeks if you account the Rams game to having played our two division foes, and then little ol St Louis came to town,..

I agree and i think they will be able to figure it out but while both being similar good LBs they are very diffrent in style. The iglets use their LBs to disguise blitz and bring presure fom diffrent places, while Pitt does it similar they blitz a lot they are always going to end up leaving a lot of Lbs in the box to shut down the run, the iglets often deviated from leaving therees in the box in order to blitz them. It will take a lot from our Oline this game, ironically while being the oldest squad on the team i think with Samuals sitting last week they may be fresher and healthier then other parts of our team, thats not saying much considering the infirmary they running out in Ashburn.
