A league source said Meangelo wasn't fined because after watching 8 weeks of tape they realized it was completely implausible that Meangelo would actually hit anyone anywhere anytime. Testimony from Jake Delhome revealed that at worst Hall is only capable of shirt grabbing and Mario Manningham testified that slapboxing was the extent of Hall's ferocity...this was later confirmed in the very game the incident occurred in by Michael Turner. Thus, the league concluded that Meangelo Hall presents no credible threat to the safety of grown men making his threats and trash talking meaningless and all players in the league already know it.

I could be wrong as well, but shouldn't a 3rd round pick pretty much be a starter by now?
Posted by: ksquare | November 12, 2009 1:55 PM
How many third rounders from that draft are now starters?
Posted by: League-Source | November 12, 2009 2:22 PM | Report abuse
Jeezus, I thought you'd know this with your moniker.
Current starters -- all 3rd round picks:
Kevin Smith RB Lions
Mario Manningham WR Gints
Andre Caldwell WR Bengals
Steve Slaton RB Texans
Jamaal Charles RB Chiefs
Earl Bennett WR Bears
Jeremy Zuttah OG Bucs
Only 4 O linemen were taken in the 3rd round...Cousins (OG Ravens), Zuttah (OG Bucs), John Greco (OT Rams) and good ol' CR.

even though they are terrible at football it's good to see they can get some things right.

Does anyone else think Kyle Orton could be a stand-in for the Geico "So Easy A Caveman Could Do It" commercials?

Going back to the Jerry Grey comments, in the Army we had a saying "Train as you Fight, Fight as you Train." This team plays like it practices. Key players don't practice, they don't tackle, can't practice in the rain. They are soft.

Victory! We were fined less!
Posted by: daggar | November 12, 2009 2:52 PM
Maybe this is your idea of victory. The way I see it, once again, we're losers. They outscored us in fines. We can't even put up more fight than them in a fight.

Falcons fans are outraged about this fine thing if you read the blogs.

Thanks for doing my work for me. But doesn't that answer the question? 36 guys were taken in the third round of that draft (4 were compensatory picks) and seven are starting. So, it's less than one in five.

What is the update on Kevin Barnes?
Why is our third round draft pick (CB) not even dressing for games yet? Can't he even get in on our dime packages?
Anything?
Or are we afraid he'll get burned for a long TD on a double move? or drop an easy interception? or blow a tackle that might cost us a game? - being that we're SO competitive these days...

I read that some of them were trying to collect donations to pay Mike Smith's fine.

As far as the non-'Skins fans all I have is this to say:
"Yeah, I don't give a hell. It's about the 'skins, man. I don't give a flyin' you-know-what about a Falcon. I don't give a damn! They would've done the same thing. It's war. They don't give a freakin' you-know-what about you. They will kill you. They're out there to kill you. So I'm 'a kill 'em. You write that in the paper. You write that. You make money off that. No, man, I'm pissed. All y'all take this down. I'm pissed, man. We don't care about nobody except these 'Skins. We don't. If he didn't hurt him, they'd tried to hurt them. They were gunnin' for CP's head. I'm 'a come right back at 'em. I'm a fuc**n' soldier!"

Yeah, Mike Smith was so courageous the way he confronted DeAngelo on the sidelines when Hall was all by himself surrounded by 10 Falcon players.

I think one of the big problems with having a coach who is always on the hot seat is that he is afraid to play any of the untested guys, e.g Barnes. He's so worried about winning two or three games to save his job that he will only put out vets. If the coach was confident he would be returning next year, he could accept that this is a transition year and start DT and MK at wideouts and puts Barnes in their too, maybe HB Blades at linebacker and Jarmon and Orakpo at ends.
Snyder is worst thing to happen to DC since the War of 1812.

ls, you're welcome and I think that did answer your question....7 starters out of 32 teams right?
My point....I think CR was a reach. During draft coverage, he wasn't rated that high by Kiper or Mayock.
Time will tell.....

He's like Rinehart last year, He isn't even playing special teams.
He's not only not starting, he's not playing at all, near as I can tell. And all he's have to beat out are Smoot and Tryon.
I could be wrong on PT, but I've never heard Barnes name called since pre-season.
Shall we discuss the fine careers of recent Redskin 2nd rounders."
Redskin drafts under Snyderatto are inarguably gawdawful, I was just wondering if Barnes is yet the latest example.
