Flound, we'll have to compare notes on which games our kids like.....

Posted by: BeantownGreg | December 18, 2008 10:04 AM |

No problem I started them off with a few of the Mario games and I got the Bowling game, also something called Rayman Raving Rabbids which I here is a good game.

I just see major issues with the sharing, hope I'm wrong but will see.

I see major issues when it comes time to teach your children the differences in the spellings of homophones.

not keeping up very well...

from last post...

Greg, I also got a Wii for my daughter (she's 21).

Digital Camera for my wife. Want to include Photo Shop as well, but not sure if there is something better. Any help from the hamsters is appreciated.

You are the man my dad got me some winter gloves for Christmas when I was 21.

Curzon, I can ask my brother, he's a photography major, or whatever the proper term is, and he's way into all that.

Although he doesn't use Windows or Mac, which one of those are you using?

Regarding the Running Back Guessing Game, I think Portis is still a better back than Jones because of his blocking, if nothing else.

Still, as I said before: he's just a running back.

Curz,

Photo Shop is good, I'm not a camera guy myself but some on here were talking about some other products a few weeks back.

Thanks Flounder.

also, one of the small presents I already got my 6 year old nephew is this board game "Would You Rather".

Seems like it might be fun a couple of times, and he's all into board games. From what I can gather, you have to pick a card (or something) and decide if you'd rather do choice A or choice B and explain why. Both choices are supposed to be gross kid's stuff, like pick your nose and eat it or...uhh, something else gross.

Funny part is that you have to explain your answer, and my nephew 1) loves to talk and 2) loves to talk about gross stuff, so I think this'll do good for him.

ah crap, I forgot my bro is a lazy bum and probably won't wake up until a quarter after noon.

I sent him a text though, I'll let you know.

Thanks Truth.

wii works for 3-90 year olds...

Curz, Photoshop Elements is sort of the less intense, user friendly version of Photoshop, but still does tons of stuff.

Curz,

I looked up some reviews online and looks like Photo shop is rated at the top so I think that it should be fine. It's probably even more then what she needs.

Thanks cL, user friendly is always nice or I will be spending alot of time helping (not that I mind!).

Flounder, that's what I have found, but not being a camera guy myself was not sure.

Ps, I not sure what you're talking about. CP was putting up CP-like numbers because the line was healthy.

You make it sound like leading the league in rushing is a bad thing.

CP is not the problem, was he paid too much, yeah OK. But injuries aside, he's been a pretty good back.

Like I said before Canfora was reaching on that post.

-------

I said nothing of the sort. And I don't think CP is anywhere near the problem.

Portis-esque numbers are what he's had throughout his tenure here. Good overall yards, average in YPC, above average in TDs. CP is a great back and is obviously a better player than Jones. But because Jones has a dominant o-line, he puts up extremely similar statistics.

The difference is that when the RB gets paid to be the focus, he really only produces in the running game, and only when he's the one carrying the ball. When the offensive line is the one that gets paid to be the focus, a number of RBs can step in and produce (not just 1), AND the passing game jumps dramatically because they can keep their QB upright.

Maybe JLC was actually trying to say Jones is as good as Portis. But what I actually take out of the statistics aspect is that you don't need a caliber back like CP to put up the CP-type numbers we've seen. (Or another way to look at it, imagine what CP would look like with a consistently dominant o-line in front of him)

The issue about Portis isn't value as his contract-- and the weight it places on the team--is well-known. It's the effect his 'I must not practice, but play when I'm hurt attitude' has had on the entire offense. Betts practices, but doesn't get carries when healthy. Portis doesn't practice, but gets carries when he's hurt.

And Rock Cartwright has been rendered useless whereas on most teams, he'd get five carries a game.

And here is the rub: the trend in the league now is the three-headed or two-headed running game by committee that teams like the playoff bound teams like the Giants/Panthers/Titans/Eagles/Cowboys feature. They put a healthy back with fresh legs in on every play, while Portis brags about playing tired and hurt and having had little practice at the week's game plan.

Portis must practice. He must see the value in a running back by committee approach as he'll be more effective at season's end when in the cold of Decemeber/January, he can grind out yards on fresh legs. No one team in the league depends on one back as much as the Skins do. This must change.

And who replaces Clinton? Knowshon Moreno, that's who. But without picks, and with needs, how do the Skins bring in a replacement for Portis other than signing Derrick Ward?

I guess the beep-beep machine is off today.
